Can't Work Out WIth a Heart Problem
I love to work out....it keeps my energy up and gives me a positive attitude on my dieting. But I have a heart problem, and just recently got sent to the emergency room by ambulance because of it, and while I was working out. I'm 10 pounds from my goal weight and I want to know what things I can do, with light exercise at the gym, in order to keep my diet the way it is. I went to the gym yesterday, but was too scared to fully exert myself in the event that my heart will freak out again. Any suggestions to exercises that don't raise your heart rate as much, but still help you lose weight??
This seems like something you'd really need to discuss with your cardiologist. Heart problems are nothing to screw around with. If it's tied to heart rate, as in there's some maximum HR that you aren't supposed to exceed, maybe you could invest in a good heart monitor (heck, insurance might even cover it if your doctor says it's something that could help) and do whatever exercises you prefer lightly enough not to overwork your heart. However, I wouldn't rely on the HRMs on the gym cardio machines - I'd get a good one that you can trust. Regardless, you should clear any exercise with your doctor. Exercise should make you healthier, not put your life at risk, and in your case, the balance may be different than someone without your condition.
Good luck, and take care of yourself.
Agreed with the above - you definitely need to ask your cardiologist about this one. What if you listen to someone's advice on the internet, it turns out they're wrong, and you end up back in the ER? Better safe than sorry here, the risks are just too great to mess with.
If you keep your food about the way it is, you'll probably continue to lose (though a bit slower) or maintain until you get a chance to talk to your doctor.
Where can I see 1/8th or 1/6th of a pie or angel food cake?
This is the best way to picture a portion of pie or cake: Draw a circle to represent the circumference of the cake or pie (9" pie? 10" cake?... Read more
