I am shopping around for car insurance because my son is driving now and it is real expensive to add him so I am looking for best deal. I got a pretty good qoute from Geico. Does anyone use them and do you like them?

Or any other companies I should look at?

I'm wary of geico, they're really predjudiced against cavemen.

Geico quoted me $300 more per 6 months than I am currently paying at Safeco, and $200 more than what Allstate quoted me, so def shop around!  (and we both have perfect driving records)

If you were ever in the military (or your parents were) then USAA is awesome.  They are non-profit, so you can get very good rates from them.

YES absolutely amazing coverage and service. Not sure how their rates compare because we will not go elsewhere.

Hey I need to check allstate I don't know about Safeco never heard of it State Farm is who we have now and they want to raise it $400 a month more to add him. Which is crazy the Geico qoute wasn't even that much for everyone.

My husband got on under his dad's policy when he started driving, then we got married and I got on it, then we got the house and put that on it.

Now he gets regular mail from AARP though. And the new medicare part B instructions. hahahahaa

i switched 2 geico

me and my little pile of money are very happy together

i was paying a fortune for myself and my teen son and daughter b4 i switched

I had Progressive before I moved to Korea. I was in an accident 1 week before I left and had no problems with them. My sister has them now on her new car and has had a few problems with them raising the rates but she's gotten them to fix it.

I have Progressive insurance as well.  I got into an accident and they were great.  They have a concierge that takes care of everything.  They will even find you the closest repair shop that they recommend, have it towed there, and gettig a rental from them was no problem.  My car ended up being totaled and they gave me a very fair market value for it.

Jeeze....Reading back on this, I kinda sound like a spammer for Progressive or something.  Tongue out

I had Geico, then I turned 25 (which supposedly makes me less of a liability) and moved closer to work which cut 1/3 off of my commute, and they rewarded me with a $300/year rate increase.  I stuck with Geico for about 2 hours after that.  Now with Progressive for half the price.

The only insurance company I've ever had to deal with after an accident was MetLife (who insured the guy who hit me).  They were aweful. Stay away from them.

If I understand their rules, then I think your dad would have to be on USAA and then you could get on.  And your kids could as well.

My mom and dad were both in the military  and they got on USAA.  Now I'm on it and my kids are on it (none of us have been in the military).

Thanks everyone for your replies. I got a qoute from Farmers they said that they could match Geico but with a $1250 ded. I said no thanks. Allstate qouted me $703 a month. That's crazy. Actually the Farmers agent told me that for young drivers Geico is going to be the better price.

go to esurance.com......i have had them for a few years, the are cheap and very dependable....i got into a pretty bad accident a few years ago and they never delayed just took charge of things quickly......
