I have tried to follow the carb diet for diabetes but don't have a lot of info. on it. I was wondering if anyone else has tried it and if so, could you explain it. Haven't had much luck finding info. I know 15 carbs= 1point but could use some guidance. Thanx.
I know at least 2 type 2 diabetics that could stop taking insulin after just a few (3-4) weeks off carbs. It's probably impossible to get off 100%, but with the Low Carb High Fat diet they aim for GI=0. At first people on LCHF might find it hard to stay away from fruits, but in the long run it's worth not having to take medication. This is how diabetics lived 40 years ago, before it struck the big pharmaceutical companies how much money they could make off sick people...
And about the amounts of fat, my mother lost 20 pounds and her husband 50 on this diet, and they are healthier than they've ever been!
I don't know much about this myself, and my instinct is to tell you to go to a nutritionist who can teach you how to do this correctly if you have diabetes (as opposed to prediabetes, or just trying the diet or whatever). However, I did find a couple of links that I'm going to message you :)
