Are they really THAT bad for you? I've been reading magazines where they show us the diet celebrities went on to lose weight, and they all said that they cut carbs out of their diet.
Carbs are in fact great for you. Carbs are the main source of energy for your body. You need to eat carbs. Just don't overload on carbs and you'll be fine.
To lose weight you need to consume slightly fewer calories than you burn up. If you remove the refined sugary, processed, high-calorie carbohydrates from your diet... cakes, biscuits, sweets.... and replace them with small amounts of unrefined, unprocessed, wholegrains and other complex carbohydrates... wholemeal bread, legumes/pulses, oats, fruit, vegetables .... then you can enjoy a healthier diet and weight-control at the same time.

carbs as in grains or fruits and veggies?
Grains: bread, pasta, etc.
Fruits and whole grain breads, whole grain pastas are great for the digestion. They also seem to metabolize differently than the refined carbs (white flour, refined white sugar etc.).
Good carbs make me feel full. Refined carbs make me feel hungry.
Good carbs: fruits, vegetables, whole grains, etc. These are great for energy, taste pretty good, and keep you running.
Bad carbs: chips, cookies, white sugar, high fructose corn syrup, white flour, regular white pasta... These can taste good, but are not that good for your body and are the main reason I've got T2 diabetes right now.
So, I'd say, limit your amount of bad carbs, and don't go TOO crazy with your good ones, and you should be fine. And honestly, it should fit into your fiet plan easily, whatever that might be. What sort of diet suggests that you eat chips and cookies and sugar anyway?
