Even with the restricted calories, what percentage of carbs is everyone eating? I feel that I should keep the carb intake low, and alway use complex carbs such as potatoes, brown rice, etc. But even with that, what percentage of carbs should you eat or not go over in order to lose weight/fat?

I would like to know the answer to this question. It seem like just about everything I eat has a lot of carbs in it. I'm talking about breakfast bars, snack bars, etc. I'm keeping within my calorie range but I think I'm eating too many carbs.
I try to aim for around 50%
The RDA for Protein is 12-15% and it's recommended that your fat intake not go over a third of your daily calories... So that leaves 50% for Carbs...

About 42% of my intake is carbs and then the rest is split between fat and protein. I always have in my mind that protein is wayyy better than carbs. Maybe because my parents were HUGE Atkins fanatics a few years ago?
I try to stay between 40-45% carbs..that leaves approx 25-30% fat and 25-30% protein. It varies between the fat and protein.
Hello,
When I found out I had diabetes I went to a nutrionalist. she told me this:
For Breakfast:
45g
Midmorning snack:
15g
Lunch:
45g
Midafternoon snack
15g
Dinner:
45g
Snack:
15g
I dont know if this is just for people who have diabetes but i always thought it was a good guide to follow.

I eat as much as 65% carbs and have had no trouble losing weight. Total calories and getting exercise seem to be the most important things for me.
I had no idea that virtually everything I ate had so many carbs. I am on the South Beach Diet and I can't even have my orange juice in the morning! From what I have read in the book. Counting calories and exercise alone will help you to lose weight, but if you want to get rid of stomach fat (like me) you should eat no more than 40 g of "good carbs" a day. Eating to many carbs can also lead to many other health problems.
I am a guy and in the past I have usually lost weight easily when I decided to. Since starting here at cc a short time ago I am actually deliberately aiming for high carbs! I want a minimum of 60% of quality complex carbs. in as close to a natural state as possible.
I am reading a book called " The China Study" and it suggests that humans should not be eating high fat or high protein diets and that animal proteiin is in large part a cause of most of our seriious health concerns. IE: Heart Disease and Cancer among others. I am losing weight consistently on my diet and it is over 50% carbs. I don't always reach my goal of 60%. It works so far for me. I may have to adjust things as my diet progresses but this is where I am right now and losing about 2 lbs a week on average.

I haven't been watching my carbs very much but looks like my break down is:
24.7% Protein
20.4% Fat
54.9% Carbs
I don't really like to think about carbs at all I just try to keep my sugars low. The fat doesn't bother me unless it's trans or sat. I just try to keep sugar 9g or less per meal. I started excersising and watching what I ate since Feb 27th and I was at 204 and I weighed myself this morning and I'm at 180. So I guess this combination is working for me.

I think it may vary per person and according to your health needs. Not a simple answer, but probably so . . . :D
For a year, while trying to lower cholesterol, I ate about 65-80% carbs and low fat, and it helped me lose 60+ pounds and have the best darn cholesterol levels ever (like 146 as opposed to 240). As a result of this way of eating, though, my blood sugar went up, though, and now I'm supposed to aim closer to 45-50% carbs, with a little more protein and fat (good ones like olive oil, avocados, and nuts) than before. Now, my carbs come mostly from low glycemic fruits, veggies, and whole grain carbs. I've lost another 14 pounds with this new breakdown, so it must be working!
Good luck, whatever you and your healthcare professional decide is right for you! :)

I am a vegetarian and very active and I get 65- 70% carbs, which I find works nicely for me.
I just started this analysis thing so I don't know how helpful I will be. Yesterday I was at 48% carbs for the day and today so far I'm at 39%. A whole bunch of it came from breakfast (fiber One cereal) but those are good carbs for the most part and I have ALL day to use them up LOL
