Calories are calories and some carbs are high in calories but I don't think that eating them in the morning or evening itself will cause weight gain. However hi GI carbs like white bread, potatoes etc can make you hungry so could encourage you to eat more during the rest of the day.....
I'm not sure! I just go with the daily total.
Eating more calories than you burn leads to weight gain. What you eat and when you eat it may effect how you feel but it doesn't effect what you weigh.
TX FOR THE QUICK REPLIES
I eat carbs before bed most of the time. It's fine.
I also have a carby bedtime snack nightly. Not a problem for me, either.
The experimental evidence on female Rhesus monkeys indicates that weight gain is unrelated to feeding times. I've posted the study in other threads but it can be found via pubmed.
I always thought it was the opposite. You should eat a high protein breakfast and lunch, with fewer carbs, and then most of your carbs in the evening because carbs digest quicker and you don't want to go to bed on a full stomach. Also, protein in the morning cuz it will hold you for the rest of the day.
Mostly though, I think the other posts are right and it really doesn't matter. Just eat a balance over the course of the day.
