Carbs or Protein?
Which one fills or make you feel full for long? :) ??
Proteins and fats.
Thanks. :)
Try beans. Protein + carbs + fiber = super filling.
Protein is what keeps me full the longest and is known to do that for just about everyone... but the key is to get a balance in your life so eating protein with some healthy high fiber carbs and healthy fats will keep you satisfied the longest!
Thanks guys!
giasbash6260 - I have one question? I read your profile, & you look so skinny. I'm looking to lose about 20 pounds. I'm 5'4" 126 lbs. I saw that you eat the ABCDEF diet. Why do you exclude fruits from your diet? Is it the sugars? And you are really skinny, I would like to get around your weight....what do you eat on a normal basis? How many calories do you consume, & how tall are you & how much do you weigh? I ate 800-900 cals a day, but it just maintatined me...I upped to 1200, and I think I lost, but I don't know. I really need help with losing! I also try eating only when hungry, I drink lots of water, drink soy milk and eat low cals. Just a lil bkground info for help.. Thanks
Straight from a fact sheet given to me from my nutritionist:
"Carbohydrates eaten alone may give you a quick energy boost lasting only 1-2 hours. By combining a carbohydrate with a protein, your snack may provide energy for up to 3-4 hours."
Try to stick with whole grain carb sources (ex. multigrain cereal, whole wheat english muffin, popcorn, unsweetened applesauce, fresh fruit) and a lower fat protein source (ex. tuna packed in water, boiled egg, milk, yogurt, humms, peanut butter) and your snack will keep you full and fueled for longer, but will also provide you with that immediate boost that comes from carbs.
Thanks aimee.. :)
I have one question though...
Why do I feel immediately full, after just eating a few tiny pieces of chicken, like I mean tiny, chewing them like 100 times, and then a bit of brown rice? 1/4 of my meal could still be in my plate and I'm serving tiny portions! Its really weird!
Thanks lysistrata.. :)
I love beans!! ...but I'm carefull to eat a bit because just one serving is 100, from the package I buy. I have one question for you.. since I'm new to CC, how long have you been on this site and how many pounds have you lost. I really need motivation and need to know if this site is really worth it. :P
Thanks!

I started on this site this month, and with what numbers I can come up with (I don't weigh daily - personal choice), with the help of moderate excercise 3x a week (circuit training), I've lost almost 5 pounds in two weeks. Having it track my calories and macronutrients (carbs, fat, protein), rate my meals, and track my burned calories is a real eye-opener. The only way you can stay in denial about what you're eating and burning is if you lie to the site (and to yourself in turn). It has done wonders to help me plan my meals and pick better food choices, which is exactly what I needed.Like anything else, you get out of it what you put into it, but I've found it to be really worth a little effort to track my meals and activities and dig through the tools and articles.
Hope this helps, and hope you stay. There's a great amount of information and support here!
Thanks you.. I'm staying :) There is a lot of support here, because my family continues to eat the way they do and I want to eat healthy! So I have the support I need here...and this site is really imformative! Thanks a bunch!

im no expert but i think you should be eating 1200 at the minimum. Also you are already at a good weight at 126 and 5'4", 20 lbs weight loss is a bit too much IMO.
Thanks.. yeah I'll start eating 1200 mininmum, hopefully, but I do need to lose a lot of weight since I have a very small frame and am only 16 yrs old.

For 16 years old you need to eat 1500 calories MINIMUM.

I've been here for about 2.5 years. I lost about 20 pounds and have kept it off. Mainly I used the tools here just to teach me how to eat ... I had no idea how many calories were in anything, and how to put my meals together everyday. After about six months of solid logging, my body became pretty well trained to recognize when I had eaten enough, so I don't log anymore.
BTW, when I was losing I was eating about 1800 calories per day. When I worked out (mainly running, spinning, or doing intense flow yoga), I'd eat closer to 2200. It is very possible that you are not eating enough. Activity is really the key to staying slim and fit, and you have to eat to have enough energy to be truly active.
