Carbs question..
What exactly does it mean? does it mean 50% or 50 carbs? (like, if you look at a food label, the amount of carb grabs will be given in percentage and grams).
I'm very confused...
They mean percentages. You might already know this, but if you click on the "My Account" tab here, and then click on "Analysis" it will give you a breakdown that helps you keep track.
They mean that 50% of your total calorie intake should be carbs, 20% should be fat, and 30% should be protein.
So if you plug all your information into the Calorie Count Plus food log and then press Analysis tab, it will give you the percentage break down so you don't have to calculate it yourself.
However if you do want to calculate it yourself: first calculate calories from fat grams (the number of fat grams in a certain food you can find on the nutrition label) by multiplying each gram of fat by nine. The resulting number will be equal to the number of calories your body is taking in from fat grams. To calculate calories derived from protein and carbohydrates, do the same as above but multiple by four calories each.
Then calculate the percentage of fat, protein and carb by taking a percentage of your total intake calories. So if you ate 450 fat calories (50 grams of fat at 9 calories per gram) and ate a total of 2000 calories in a day that would be equal to 22.5% fat intake.
Your calories should be divided by the % contributed by Carbs, Fat, Protein. Keep in mind that 1 gram of fat is 9cal and Protein and Carbs each contribute 4cal per gram.
