If I'm going to do both...do I do cardio and then weight lifting? Or vice-versa?

Weight lifting first
warm up for 15-20minutes by doing light cardio, then weight lifting....Finish off with cardio.
i spent about a year doing cardio first before weight lifting.  if you are going to do intense cardio (more than 30 min) then I would suggest doing it first so that you have the energy. if not then strength training can be done first.  Just make sure you warm up before strength training.
i'm a little confused about this myself. i do cardio first, because i figure this way i will burn more calories in weight training, but i have been hearing its better to do cardio after? idk.
I personally do a short warmup, 5-10 min, and then do my weights first.  That way when I'm all sweaty from Cardio I can go straight to the showers, and I don't have to sit in my sweat lifting weights.  When I first started at the Y, one of the trainers there recommended weights first.  I don't think doing cardio first makes you burn any more calories while you lift weights

I am not sure what you goal is (toning, weight loss, increase muscle, etc) and I am not an expert, but what I was told was to do strength training first (you need the energy and it will use up sugars and carbs first), then finish with Cardio to burn more fat since the sugar/carb stores are more depleted.  But if you are just toning with low weights and higher reps, it shouldn't be a problem either way.  If you are trying to max out your weights, I would do weights first.  I was doing cardio first and then switched and I was able to increase the weight I was pushing pretty significantly.

Just from my experience...I have found doing strength training first is much easier and then do cardio second.  I have tried doing cardio first before strength training and I thought I was going to die in the strength training class! hehe.

It seems you exert more energy doing cardio first, so when lifting weights after that your muscles are more 'spent' so it makes it much harder to follow through.

I suggest, however, if you are going to do cardio first then make your strength training session a 'easy' one by using lighter weights so that you don't feel so tired (if you going to do both exercises in the same day)

Another option, though, is to do cardio one day and strength the next so that you don't have to double up in one day...if you have time in your schedule. :D Hope this helps! :D Good luck!

from a safety standpoint, you should do weights first, when you aren't tired out.  at a 5k that i ran at a couple of years ago, there was a guy competing in the wheelchair division.  he said that one day he did a hard cardio workout, then went to lift weights.  but he was so tired that he dropped the bar and it fell on his spine and now he's paralyzed from the waist down.  :(

I agree with this.  I try to lift pretty heavy, and if I do it after cardio, I am more tired and don't push myself as much.  But with the cardio I can use objective measurements (speed, heart rate) to make sure I am at the right level.  Also doing cardio after helps loosen me up from the weight lifting.
