Care to help me with this weekend?

Quote  |  Reply

This is going to be a fun weekend, but boy, in terms of my diet I am so not looking forward to it. I wish celebrations didn't have to be so food related.

Thursday - One of my closest uni friends birthday (Dinner & drinks)

Friday - My Birthday (Drinks..)

Saturday - Parents coming up for a late birthday lunch, followed in the evening by dinner out with the girls as an alternative to the Christmas Ball (sold out..)

Sunday - Christmas dinner with the girls (I'll probably explode by this point)

So what do you think might help to survive? I'm going to try and eat as lightly as I can, and do a bit more exercise, such as going for a morning walk to help burn some calories I can then eat/drink back later on. I wish I could look up the nutrition information, but unfortunately the only places in Britain that put that up are fast food joints and one or two chain pubs, so it's mostly going to be guesswork.

Thank you for any in-put :)

I know it's so hard.  You want to be social and enjoy all of the festivities but, don't want your waistline to pay the price!

If I know I'm going to be eating out a lot I try to eat something small before I go.  Make yourself a salad or eat some raw veggies or fruit...carrotts and apples always seem to be very filling for me.

Then when you go you're not starving and you'll be satisfied with an appetizer as your meal instead of gorging yourself on an oversized entree!

Good Luck and have fun!

Also try to split meals with the girls- it helps on portion control and cash flow! a win-win!

Be aware of what you're drinking- vodka tonics are pretty light on calories, so are G&T's, you can do rum and diet coke instead of regular coke... dark beers are loaded with cals.

kikig - That sounds like a wonderful idea, I'll definately give it a shot. Thank you very much :)

saroful - Meal splitting sounds like a good plan, I'll definately suggest it, especially on the Saturday night! Not sure where's being booked yet, but probably somewhere that's going to reach quite deep into all of our student loans, eek. It'll be nice though :). Thanks for the suggestion, very much appreciated :). As for beer, I've had to give that up =[, I loved it, but instead of having 1 or 2 pints, I'd have about 5 or 6, and on one occasion 10. No wonder I gained 15-20 lbs last year, safer just to stay away from them.

My pleasure ;)

And saroful is right about the liquor choices.  ALSO if you drink vodka & tonic or gin & tonic try switching the tonic out for soda water and adding an extra lime.

Tonic water is full of sugar and cals...soda water has none & the extra lime with boost the flavor ;)

I would suggest eating something healthy before you go and eat enough to feel full. This way you can pick at your food and just say your not hungry and only take a few bites.

I did this before Thanksgiving. I ate about 21/2 or 3 cups of Kashi go lean with soy milk and a banana and it worked wonders.

Good luck.
