Carolie Intake and Burning
I'm 5'3", 140 lbs... my BMI is 25.3 and recommended calorie intake is 1500. My question is... If my RCI is 1500, how many calories should I be working off at the gym in order to effectively lose weight? My target weight is 120 lbs. And also, do some exercises burn more calories than others, if so, in what way?
I think if you burn about 300 calories a day through exercise, that should take you to a deficit of 500 calories per day, and a loss of 1 lb per week. A mix of cardio and weight training would be ideal for burning calories. High intensity activities burn more calories per minute than low.
i'm 5' 2.75" and i run for about 40 min a day, which brings me up to burning about 2300 a day (i think like 1/2 from running?). so i guess if u figure u burn 1000 calories give or take a couple hundred u'll lose a lot. i only just started this diet at the beginning of this week and already the lbs are practicly melting off, so yeah good luck!![]()
I guess i am having the same problem. I have no idea how many calories to burn, I am recommended to eat at least 1400 calories a day. So my deficit should be no more than 1000 so does that mean I should burn 400. I am confused!
Your body naturally burns calories every day, even if you just sit around. Your profile has some questions that allow you to tell it what kind of lifestyle you have to set your base calorie consumption (mine, for instance is around 2200 calories). You can then use the activity log to put in your exercise (either by putting in the calories the machine tells you or picking an activity from the database). That will give you your total calories burned for the day. So if I use my eliptical for 30 minutes, I burn 320 calories. So my burn total for the day would be 2520 calories. I use that to set my calorie intake for the day (in this case I shoot for between 1600 and 1800 calories).
