I just had lunch with a friend that I haven't seen in a long time. I had a really nice salad and a glass of water, and then after our meal, the waitress came over and asked if we wanted dessert. I was debating, but the yummy carrot cake in the show case won. The cake was delicious, don't get me wrong, but now not only that I am feeling sick to my stomach, I feel guilty! I feel like I just ruined the healthy eating I have done earlier in the day. :S
Carrot cake is my absolute favorite! After having said that, this is when you wish you had 20 friends with you to split the piece of cake so you don't have all the guilt burden to carry and 1/20th of the calories.
Again, not a real plausible solution, but if you look at this in a positive way, there are many possibilities for you to decide now what you will do next time you are met with an eating out dilemma.
1. Plan your meals ahead of time for the day, so you can allow for this treat.
2. Split the slice into several pieces and just eat one at the restaurant and take the rest home for later in the week.
3. You know from this experience that this is not a wise decision for the future as it "makes you ill, makes you feel guilty, and ruined your healthy eating choices," therefore, you will not make this mistake again.
Don't dwell on what is done. It is over and you had an enjoyable lunch out with your friend. Get back on the horse right away and keep on truckin
Thx!! :)
I will keep your tips in mind for the next time!
So if you had a slice of carrot cake with icing you consumed roughly 425 to 475 calories.... What did you have on your salad and what sort of dressing did you put on there? If you had dressing on the side and didn't have any croutons, cheese, nuts or fried anything then you shouldn't feel to badly about eating it... Just make sure you don't go over board at dinner time!
The salad was a mix of spring greens, cucumbers and beets, I told them to not add the goat cheese and the cashews that they normally put on there, and the dressing was a balsamic dressing. I had a small salad with a chicken breast for dinner last night and an apple. I was only a 100 cal over it was not so bad.
Thank you both for your help! :)
I wouldn't worry too much - you basically had only eaten raw veg before that - no protein, no fat (unless there was oil in the dressing) - so a piece of cake is not the end of the world. Whats life without cake? :D
