Cash for Clunkers anyone?
I NEED A NEW CAR.
I have had my 1993 dodge shadow for 7 years. It is almost 20 years old. It is a 4 cylinder, and I know that it gets less then 18 mpg now. And I am sure it puts off tons of emissions, it's definitely looking a little unpromising lately.
I did not find it on the list of cars eligible that I found online but I am not sure if that list was correct or not.
I have been looking into buying the new Nissan Cube and I am wondering if I should just drive my little bomb down to the dealership and just ask if I would qualify for anything.
Has anyone used the program yet?
I don't know about where you are, but around here, I've seen alot of dealerships offering the same for a trade in as the Cash for Clunkers has. But the dealerships are taking ALL cars, and C for C is not. I'd call a couple of dealerships and ask them what they are offering.
I don't think you're eligible, but it wouldn't hurt to go down to the dealership and see what kind of deal you can get.
Yeah I'm pretty sure I'm not
:(
I've looked at lots of sites saying I'm not.
Doesn't look like it. If your shadow is 4-cylinder, your gas mileage is too good.
:(
it urks me so bad that I am not eligible!
AHHHHHHHHHHh
If anyone needs a new car it is me!
If you saw my car you would understand.
haha
No air. Barely any heat. horrible tires. sometimes it starts, other times not.
I could have really used that 4500
You never know. Like I said, some dealerships are offering (for any trade-in) the same amount that C for C is offering right now.
A dealership where I used to live always had a $4500 trade in for any car. Didn't matter if the car was currently running or not, you just had to get it there and they'd give you that much for trade in.
Maybe that's just a MO thing?

I don't think there is anything like that going on in Wisconsin but I think I will look for it Thanks!
Don't know if you are set one car in particular, but Chrysler Corp (which includes Dodge) is def giving the $4500 off on most models. PT Cruisers are fairly reasonable, get pretty good mileage now. And for as small as they look, they are really big inside (my 6" hubby can sit in the bask seat with plenty of leg and head room, and with the rear seats folded down I can haul around a) 2 Great Danes and a Border Collie, b) 12 50lb bags of horse feed c) 4 bales of hay, d) 10 foot long 2x4s - I treat this car like a mini-truck sometimes, lol). I've had mine 9 years and STILL love it, I'll be getting another.
I just did Cash For Clunker on my old car. Had a Isuzu Rodeo and got a new Honda Insight. Went from 17 MPGs to 43!
I would take it up to the dealer and see what type of deal they would work with you, you never know.
My car gets really good gas mileage luckily and is only 3 years old and was purchased brand new, but our second car turns 20 years old next year and it qualifies for cash for clunkers I think because I saw a video of someone trading in the same exact model. The only problem is that we have nooo money to buy a new car with :( Too bad.
now this is what Ive heard lately that most new cars have been jacked up 4500 to 5500 that they'll give you like i said heard not that i know if is true or not but I'd rather drive my clunker K5 doesn't do good on gas but sure does good in traffic!! (see that thing coming down the road threw your rear view mirror!!whoa!!)

I feel your pain. I just moved to Virginia and my car has no air. And the windows only roll down half the time, the other half I am literally roasting in my car, sitting in DC traffic :( And of course, my stupid car gets 23 miles because it's a Honda. It's a clunker in every way except the mileage, lol. I would definitely look for a place with a minimum trade in if you are looking to buy a new one. I still have a couple more years with mine. Sometimes I want to push it off a bridge and claim it was stolen.

I love K5s. They're hot.
And remember. Negotiate the price of your new car BEFORE you mention the trade.
