I have found huge discrepancies in the numbers when comparing CC to other online sites, such as About.com Nutrition. I ran my beginning numbers for both sites, and then ran my latest numbers and I am getting a rather large calorie difference. CC says I should eat 1250 calories while About.com says I should eat 1670 in order to lose a pound a week. Anybody else confused about the numbers? I can't be the only one...=(

yup me too. I just posted a similar question but based on the cc website tools and daily eat meter. Not sure where my post landed. I'll keep checking yours too!
CC gives me the # of calories to lose one and a half lbs a week. Is CC definitely giving you the calories for one lb a week?
also, did you check to make sure it was for weight loss, not weight maintenance when first signing up?... click on account/options (above the weight loss chart) and scroll down to Diet Type: Weight Loss/Weight Maintenance. Hope that helps if that was the problem :)
Hi guys, thanks for the replies. Yes, my numbers are for weigh loss, not maintenance. The reason I decided to check around, was because another CC person thought that my allowance was low for a 245 lb person (which was my starting weight). CC now has me at 1250 calories, and I weigh 214. I thought we were supposed to lose weight slowly, but CC has me at a roughly 900 calorie deficit per day. It has shown that I naturally burn 2100 (est) a day. So, 1250 sounds low...I dunno. I mainly use this site to see my ticker, and read how everyone is doing. I don't necessarily follow the CC advice any longer. Hope you guys are doing great! =)
If your basic burn is 2100 a day, and you eat 1250, then you have a deficit (without exercise) of 850 calories per day. This would be 1.7 lbs per week which is not too much but is on the higher end. If you only want to lose 1 lb per week, then eat 1600 calories per day. If you exercise, the weight loss should go at a higher rate, but you may want to eat more to get more nutrition.
Hi! Just wanted to say thank you for this post, as it explains things quite clearly. Thanks again.
