CC says i should eat 1690 cal BUT..

if i eat over 1000cals i gain weight :s

so i stay between 500 - 900 cals

even on 900 im pushing it abit with gaining weight

 

does anyone know why?

 

i dont eat fatty foods, and im not cuttin gout certain foods

i always drink water, sometimes juices, never fizzy or alcohol

You gain weight on 900 - 1000 most probably because you eat so little the rest of the time.... Eat the right maintenance amount for your size for a few weeks... likely to be 2000-2200 a day.. ... t hen your metabolism will kick back into gear.  You'll gain a little weight in the process but when you reduce to 1690 you'll start to lose.

500 - 900 is extremely unsafe and unhealthy and you have to stop that at once.  You'll make yourself very ill through malnutrition (physically as well as mentally) and probably not be much thinner at the end of the whole miserable process.  1200 is the absolute bare minimum for an oldish, sedentary, lightweight adult female to keep body and soul together. 

....and you'll f**k up your metabolism for the rest of your life and you'll ALWAYS have a hard time losing, maintaining weight.  And if you keep eating 500-900 calories your body will literally eat itself, and not your fat stores, but your muscles and your organs....stuff you will never be able to get back.  You will do permanent damage to your body.

Do you really want to be fighting your weight your entire life??  Eat healthy, and eat enough, now, lose weight slowly (if you need to lose it at all), and at some point you will actually be able to maintain your weight with a normal (2000ish) amount of calories.

you have to gradually start increasing calorie intake (if you want to be healthy try getting up to about 2000). this way your metabolism will be faster and you wont gain weight as easily

if you want to increase metabolic rate, try eating smaller meals more often eg 5 small meals a day.

so little calories is really bad for health and will do no good when you want to lose weight. your body will just adapt to the amount you are taking and will expect that amount, then when you eat a bit more than usual, you will gain weight.

ive read about upping calories before

but is there like a slow way you can do it?

so i dont end up jumping to the full amount straight away and feeling like my stomachs gonna burst

i do eat healthy already, i guess just not enough by what you's are saying.

i used to work out 20mins 5 days a week, but had to stop cus where decorating, would that help with upping my cals?

A slow way to do it would be increasing your intake by 100 each day.

And you might not be eating junk, but you can't get enough nutrition to be "eating healthy" on 500-900 calories.

Amethystgirl is right.  You don't want to up your calories too slowly because you'll just prolong the damamge your doing.  Upping 100 calories a day is slow enough for you stomach to expand.  Also if you look in the wieght gain forum there is a list of calorie dense foods... more calories less space in your tummy.  While your not trying to gain weight it could help you aviod that bursting feeling till you adjust.

Once you hit maintaince calories you should stay there at least week... probably longer till your wiehgt evens out and your not gaining.  You could gain a few lbs at first but it will come back off so don't sweat it. Once your weight even out at maintaince calories that's a good sign that your metabolism is adjusting.

Then you can start a healthier weight lose regiment at your recommended calories.   It may take a bit more time but it is soo worth it for your health!!

You can eat healthy and still raise your calories without making it all "junk".

Try some nuts as a snack - These have good fats.  Eat some avocado with your salad - Another form of good fats.  Spread some peanut butter on a sliced up apple.  These things are high in calories but aren't so bulky that it will make you feel overly full.  I have a whole list of suggestions if you would like.  These are just a few I thought of off the top of my head.

Besides the all the dangerous things that will happen to your metabolism along with that your hair can also fall out. Its very dangerous to eat a 500-900 cal diet. I knew some one in high school who wanted to lose weight and she restricted herself to 300 cals a day. I dont believe it lasted more than a few days cause I dont remember her losing any weight.

It should be noted that the OP is 15 years old and that CC's recommendation applies to adults. Teens should be eating more than CC's recs.

lol ur a teen and u eat 900, what is going on there? gradually increase to about 2200, trust me u want your metabolism to work normally, then start exercising when your weight stays stable on 2200, sorted.

Wow yeah.... you being 15 changes things.  You definetly need to up your calories.  Does some one hae the link for the teen calculator so she can figure out what maintaince is for her?

I came from the same situation you are in. I was eating between 600 to 800 cals a day now Im up to 2100! Dont be frustrated when you gain wait bc you will. It takes time and you have to be dedicated. You will love the end result!!! It took me about 3 months before I started to lose weight agian. Its so easy for me to lose weight now and I feel like I can almost eat anything I want and Im never hungry. So dont give up! And good luck with everything!
