CC goal weight Too low?

Quote  |  Reply
My CC goal weight was calculated to be 134. I am 5'8. I thought it was a little low and after talking to the trainer at the gym I am pretty sure it is at least 10 lbs off. I am going to do body comp testing to find my actual fat lbs so I have a more realistic final goal.

Anybody else have this trouble?

am also 5'8 and mine said my goal weight should be 144 point something which seems just about right.
I thought mine was low too. I think CC uses the lowest healthy BMI for an individual. However, I think for many this may not be attainable or wanted because BMI doesn't factor body distribution and muscle into its calculation. So, I'd say go with what feels comfortable to you and what your trainer suggests.
i know what you mean.
ok. i've been on here since july, and didn't realize you could have CC calculate a goal weight for you. how can i do this? all i've ever calculated are my allowance and expenditure
where can you find your goal wieght?
I prefer finding my own goal weight based on the BMI scale.  I'm a "bigger boned" guy, so I'm aiming for the higher end of the BMI scale.
Mine told me I should be 185, which *IS* the middle of my healthy range, but.. I doubt very likely for me :)
Where do you find the goal weight on here that it chooses? I can't seem to find it.
Mine said 136, but I want to be at about 130, which is still healthy. (I'm 5'6) Although if still lose pants sizes and look good, I won't really care either way :)
apparently some of us are blind and can't find it.
Sorry! I've been looking for it :)

I think that CC suggests a goal weight when you first sign up for an account. It might not do so if you enter a goal weight that you have already set for yourself. I have a very vivid memory of CC suggesting that I weigh 116 lbs (which I have not weighed since I was 13...but I suppose there's always dreaming)

Like you, I can't find it now. If anyone knows, fill us in!
I found the goal weight through the BMI index. I randomly plugged in numbers in the "healthy" BMIs  for my height and age and eventually got the information.
I was once normal sized, so I've based my goal on what felt good to me as well as what I think is realistic.  Bottom line, I may not ever be a super babe, but I will be much healthier and look a lot better as well.

Now if I'd been overweight my whole life I'd be more likely to rely on a calculator.
For 5'4" it gave me a goal of 131 - actually on the high end of the weight recommendation, from what I understand.
I just found this really good site about different measures of ideal weight.  It gives you calculations based on several formulas, and also explains the innacuracies of each one.

Yes!  Do the body comp.  CC says I should be at 147, and I knew that wasn't right for me.  My body comp said 172 is the LOWEST I should weigh if I maintain my current muscle mass.  You're right on track with that idea.  :)  Kelly
I met with my Doctor today for tracking and he said that my goal weight of 143 was too low and I am 43 and 5'7.  He said I should be between 150 - 170 because of my build.  I dunno, 143 sounded good but I am going to get to 160 and then evaluate from there.

That means that I have exactly 50 more pounds to go for a total loss of 188 pounds!
