CC iPhone app

Quote  |  Reply

Hi All,

I was on my iPhone earlier and I was thinking that it would be really cool and convenient if there was an app where I could add/delete foods and activities as well as view my current calorie intake/burned calories.  Accessing the normal website from my phone takes a very long time unless i'm on a WiFi connection, and even with that it can be slow at times.

I know that you have the mobile version of the website, but it only lets you look at the calorie content of food.  It would be awesome and very helpful, if you couldn't make an iPhone app, if you could somehow add functionality to the mobile version where you can add/delete items from both your activity and food logs as well as view your current calorie and burn meters.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Thanks!

I agree. An iPhone app would be ultra great. It would be awesome if I could keep track of everything on my iPhone while I'm traveling and then upload it all to CC when I return home and sync up my iPhone. I'm keeping track of everything I eat in the "Notes" firmware now and then reyping it into CC when I get home, because even over WiFi, it takes me at least 5 minutes of distraction from eating companions to log everything in to CC (I know, I should just get the 3G).

There is an iPhone app "Restaurants" dreporto, that I used when I'm out traveling now to get quick info about chain restaurants/fast food calorie content. The calories/nutrition info don't always match CC's, but it's really really close, only off by a few calories in my experience. And "restaurants" has some nutritional info for items CC doesn't have (example: specialty fountain drinks at Sonic, or kid's meal values.) I think it's under "healthcare and fitness" in the app store. It reads which restaurants are around you using the Maps pinpointing capability, lists them all, and even maps them for you if you don't know how to get there. It definitely helps me make better choices.

Oh. Also "restaurants" has logging cababilities as well. When you look something up, it will have options on the bottom of the screen such as:

1. "I ate this today." or

2. "I ate this on (fill in the date)."

The logging mechanism is definitely not even close to as advanced as CC's. But it's really quick, just a few simple taps, and then you can go back to conversation with your eating companions.

I would love an app - I found the site to be a bit clunky when trying to use it to log stuff on the phone today. In the least they could do an iphone version like facebook, gmail etc.

This is a HUGE opportunity for Calorie Count.

Still to this date, no one has come up with a killer calorie counting app for the iPhone that ties into a good food database online like CC has.

CC should get their stuff in gear and get an app that ties into our online accounts.

Make an app for iPhone, Android, etc. If you do it right, you will grab the market, because noone has done it correctly yet, which I find unbelievable.

I agree... I was looking for one on my iphone yesterday and was sad to not find one :/

I ended up signing up for an account with Spark something.. but I really don't want to fill in two site, and all of my history is here!

Get on it Calorie Count! ;)

Also, I would be willing to pay a couple bucks for it.. if it was done right!

I've been thinking about this for some time now!!!

If CC made an app. I would want it to be integrated, much like facebook and myspace apps. I don't want to have to sync my phone to upload to the site... that would be kinda annoying.

PLEASE CC! MAKE AN IPHONE APP!

I hope the Mods are listening and making phone calls or something because i'm almost tempted to try that spark site out just because they have a iphone app. I also dont want to log everything in 2 places and because i use my iphone so much spark my win me by default. Come on CC just let us know if it's in the works

hi friends, i totally agree we need an app!  I am surprised that none of the major diet plans out there have apps yet.  No SB or WW.... Come on CC be the first!

Yes...a CC iphone app would be great!!! Even though they will not be the First...sparkpeople.com has a ipod/iphone app

Due to this same problem I was using Livestrong.com's app for logging food and activity. Don't know which I like better yet but there ease is nice!

+1 on the request for a CC iPhone App.  I travel a lot, and trying to remember what I've had through the day, and log it at the end of the day when I finally get back to my hotel (assuming the internet there is working) makes counting while on the road really hard.  I'd love to be able to fill stuff in on the App while taking a taxi etc...  I've tried just using Safari to do it on the normal site, but the site isn't really optimized for speed on a mobile device, nor is the layout great for a small screen.

I don't have an iPhone but a CC app would seriously make me consider getting one. My dream CC app would allow me to take a picture of a nutrition label or the front of the box and it would then have the nutritional content in the phone. Then, you could adjust for serving size, etc. and automatically add it to your day's total. Maybe it's a pipe dream, but I think there's an app that can essentially do the same thing for books, so I don't see why it can't be done.

I agree with everyone here! I'd *love* an app for my iPhone. Entering my information in 2 places is such a pain it's actually unmotivating Yell

Another yeah for an Iphone app.  Sometimes it just too hard to log your food all day and if I had it on my Iphone it would be so much easier to keep track of.  Come on CC get an app out there for us!!!

Hi all, i follow calorie count on twitter and got a comment today that they are working on an iphone app! Yay!

Until then.....  search for    "LOSE IT"   it's an icon of an orange scale.   It's a pretty good app for counting calories.   It was listed in the FREE section for awhile... not sure if it still is or not.   It's pretty easy to use and you can add your own stuff too!

I agree! I would even pay if the iPhone app could talk directly with the web databases (weight tracker, etc)...
