CC making up Nutrition Info???
So I've noticed that a lot of foods that I search for give completely different nutritional info. than on the actual product box or company website.
Example: Calories in Green Giant BIB Rstd Potatoes with Garlic & Herbs
This site says its 270 cals/serving, whereas the box says 200 cals/serving with the same serving sizes. Everything else on the facts is different as well.
I'm pretty sure I should go by the box but where does CC get these numbers from?? This is not the first time this has happened...
Reason: Moved to Calorie Count Plus
It can compound the problem when I am making a recipe and the calorie count is "off" on almost everything. When I do an individual breakdown it is nowhere near the amount when I make a recipe.
Good question!!!
Manufacturers often change their nutritional information. If you see any discrepancy in nutritional information listed for an item, please use the contact option to notify the CC administrators.
Please be sure to list the exact name brand and any additional information possible.
For example, when you send a note to the team, you can include the link to the CC item:
http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/item/99929.h tml
as well as to the nutritional info on the brand's website:
http://www.generalmills.com/corporate/brands/ brand.aspx?catID=20908&groupID=19440
I have included both for you for convenience. ![]()
Btw, the seasoned potatoes look yummy!
Stacy's Naked Pita Chips have become a new fav of mine since I started counting cals. The nutrition info on this site matches the packaging. But get this: the package says a serving (1oz) is "about 10 chips"). I've been eating 10 chips or 5 depending on how much I wanted to eat. On a whim the other day I decided to weigh the 10 chips to see how close it was to 1 oz. NOT EVEN!!! 10 chips was 200 grams, not 28! 1 oz is about 4 chips. How can this be so far off. I weighed other stuff on my scale to verify the accuracy of my scale. It's a big deal in my eating strategy if I consume 140 cals or 300!

Yeah, I learned the hard way too...I love Honey Bunches of Oats - serving size 3/4 cups = 30 grams per the nutritional info. Like you, one day I decided to measure to make sure, and MY 3/4 cups measured 50 grams, so almost double. I guess these kinds of items break and settle during shipping. So, lesson leaned, I now weigh everything!

Figure out what type of eater you are and you might just find the answer to permanent weight loss.
