So I was reading the Texas thread and Im bored at work atm, so who from PA is on CC? I live around the West Chester area myself. Looking forward to hearing from a few of you all :P
Tell me a lil about yourself and a little about your stories. (If you read my last started thread youll know I like readin about em)
Hi from Mars, PA. It's north and west of Pittsburgh. I was born and raised in West Chester but as soon as I graduated college pretty much never went back. Did you grow up there?
I met my husband in a laundromat (according to his mother and STAR magazine?? it's one of the best places to meet- ha ha) in Chambersburg (middle of the state) and he convinced me that western PA was the only place to be. Two kids and 20+ years later I'm still here.

No actually, I moved around alot. Born in delware, moved to california when I was 2, spend ~9 years there, moved to FL, spent 5 years there, then moved to PA, where I currently reside. :P I actually go to school up here, Ive moved a bit in PA as well :P. Harrisburg(college), Bradford(college), and Wilkes Barre(where parents live).
Sadly my goal is to move out of PA sometime in my life, I rather enjoy moving to different places and experiencing them. I met my girlfriend online :o, and once we met each other + a few more months we started dating, and now we have been dating for about 3 years.
Laundromat does sound like a decent place to meet :P It can get quite boring in one of them :D
I went to "DA U" U of Scranton (about 20+ years ago for college) I have a dear friend in Dallas, PA. We go up there at least once a year. My parents are from Tamaqua and Schukyll Haven (sp?). I have to say that I have been to a number of areas but I really like western PA. A lot more laid back that the Philie area.
I guess online meeting was not an option when I was dating. (Oh so long ago.)
Philly native here =]
But come August I'll be away at college in northern New Jersey.
eh, my heart will always be in PA. As terrible as Philly is, I sort of love it.
I am living in DuBois, PA right now. My husband and I are both going to Triangle Tech. We graduate in February 2009.
I have lived in Alcolu (near Sumter), SC. I did some construction stuff there. We lost our jobs, so we are back in PA to further our education.
I don't think anyone knows where I am from or what I am talking about.
Are there really only this many people in PA on here?
Hi, I'm from Edinboro - 15 minutes sounth of Erie, about 2 hrs from Buffalo, Pitts. or Cleveland. I'm familiar with Bradford and Dubois (my husband is from CA and pronounces Dubois French like "Do-Bwah"...we still have some conversions to work on). I grew up in Millcreek, college in Hawaii, but came back to the "Mistake on the Lake". Lived in McKean (Erie county) for 20 years and Edinboro for the last 7.
Dubois isn't a big city by any means, but I still don't know my way around. There are a few parks and walkways which is nice. I do not know street names and barely know landmarks. I've been here since August. I know Bradford very well. There isn't much to it. Nice forest area in bradford. Dubois area is kinda boring.
Yea I went to UPB for a year before I transferred. :P Doesnt seem to be too many PA'ians here indeed. Bradford was pretty boring imo :P
Yea online dating has become alot more acceptable of late.
Yea, I rarely ventured outside the college campus lol--pretty boring life huh :P
Anyone else from PA?
raised in york, pa .......i've been in philly for four years now.
Heyy I live in Philadelphia. It's nice to meet other people in PA. I don't really know what else to say..
Did you know the the oldest ice cream shop in America is in center city Philadelphia? It's called Bassets. I've never been there, but now I want to. Haha just thought I'd share that with you guys. Well I'm actually about to leave PA to go on a trip to Virginia now.
I'm from Huntingdon --in the center of the state. I was born here. PSU grad (isn't everybody? LOL!) I lived north of P-burgh many years ago, have been to Dubois, and seen the 'famous' Zippo lighter factory too. I've never been to Philadelphia so I've got to make a day trip sometime. It's the land of soda, right?
I'm originally from eastern PA and my husband is from North Versailles (pronounced ver- sails not the french way) in western PA and we say our children are bilingual because they say soda pop. I did get teased a bit for saying soda when I first came out to western PA and for mispronouncing Dubois and Versailles. Still haven't used yins and yuns or red up yet.
I lived in Bradford all my life and I have never been to the Zippo museum.
I'm from near Altoona, Pa (one of the bigger cities in the state, but still not huge, only about 50,000 people) and I go to Grove City College (halfway between Pittsburgh and Erie). I've lived here all my life and I love the mountains here around Altoona.
The idiosyncracies of saying do boys for Dubois and versails for Versailles crack me up. Also, the hick phrases such as red up are funny. Around here, in the center of the state, some people say pop and some say soda... so I change it up and don't use the same word all the time. lol
Twink,
red up means cleaning up - readying up -red up. "Got to red up for company."
A lot of native 'burgh people do say it. I still have not figured out the grammer of when to use yin or yun.
Is jump roping as good an exercise as running?
In terms of calorie burning, moderate jumping is about equal to running a 10-minute mile, although calorie burning is always a function of time... Read more
