I am pretty new to this site and still trying to determine if its for me. I have one question. In "My Account" it is showing that my daily calorie goal is 1200. That is easy, no problems, i get it. However my "Burn Meter" confuses me, up top it says Total Estimate 2070 and then below it gives me the number of 1044. Why are there 2 different numbers? Is the Total Estimate number of 2070 how much i burn daily? My activity is light. That would put me at a 870 calorie deficit right? Is that too much? Sorry for all the questions, i am truly confused.

In your Burn Meter, the total estimate is based on your age, height and weight, it tells you what you are estimated to burn - before exercises logged - in a full 24 hour period. The number in larger font below, 1044, is what the burn meter estimates you have burned so far today - so if it's 9am and you're at 1044, then that's what you've burned up until 9am. :)
The best way to do this, is to set your activity level in your account preferences at Sedentary... Then, log any exercises you do and you'll get a more accurate "burn" reading.
Now - if you only consume 1200 and burn 2070 without exercise, you will have a caloric deficit of 870... so if you keep that up, you should lose 1lb ever 4 days.
3500 cals deficit = 1lb loss. 3500/870 = 4.0229 days.
Looks good! Keep it up and feel free to add me as a friend and message me any questions you may have! ;)
Good luck! Hope you decide to stick around. :)
Meli, if you haven't checked it out yet, check out the "Welcome to Weight Loss Forum" http://caloriecount.about.com/forums/post/654 52.html in it there is also a link to more information about that dang confusing burn meter.
What does the Burn Meter mean?
The top number of the Burn Meter is the total estimated calories you will burn the entire day. This number is based of the activity level that you chose in your Account Settings.
The bottom number displays how many calories you have burned up to that point. The time will be displayed right below the meters. This number will increase as you add activities to your Activity Log.
I hope nycgirl doesn't mind me copying this.
