Is CC similiar to WW when calculating how many calories
I was googling WW and came across some blog where people were talking about WW and the points system. There was a post that said that in order to figure out your daily points you have to answer a short questionairre and I was wonder if CC does or uses something similiar. I want to find out how many calories are in 23 points. This is what I found.
Here’s something to try to figure out your daily allotment. You still get 35 bonus for the week.
1. Are you:
Female?………score 2
Male?………..score 8
Female and Breastfeeding?…..score 12
2. How old are you?
17-26…………..score 4
27-37…………..score 3
38-47…………..score 2
48-58…………..score 1
over 58…………score 0
3. What do you weigh?
Enter the 1st 2 digits of your weight in pounds.
4. How tall are you?
under 5′1………score 0
5′1 to 5′10…….score 1
over 5′10………score 2
5. Do you spend most of your day:
sitting down?……..score 0
Occasionally sitting, but mainly standing?….. score 2
Walking most of the time?……score 4
Doing physically hard work most of the time?….score 6
6. Do you want to:
Lose weight?………..score 0
Maintain your current weight?….score 4
Ifyour numbers add up to more than 44, you only eat the 44, and if the
number is lower than 18, you eat the 18.
The amount of calories you need to maintain your weight is determined by your gender, age, weight, height and activity level and there are some formulae that combine the lot and come back with a number. If you want to lose weight you deduct 500 cals from the answer and off you go.
It's the same thing really. WW just likes to convert everything to points because that's their particular system.
1 point is ~ 50 calories
Counting actual calories will be more accurate as WW points are rounded off. Calories are posted on WW food as well. Personally, I think it is a bit of a marketing ploy. Counting calories is free, and will teach you lots about the nutritional value of the food you eat.

I'm pretty sure it's 80.
the weight watchers points can't be directly transferred into calories because the points take into account the amount of fat in a food. the exact calculation is;
WW points = calories/50 + fat/12 - amount of fibre/5
the points are less accurate than just counting calories though, but can be a lot easier if you are sticking to weight watchers food. Personally, I think its best to calculate your BMR, and eat to that.
The weight watchers calculation 'test' said I could have 20 points which is, at an approximation, 1000 calories. So make sure you take the results with a pinch of salt, and eat at least your BMR.

Thanks I was just wondering when I saw it online and couldn't imagine how many calories would actually be in 18 calories. I am not following the WW program I can't afford to attend the meetings. I enjoy having immediate conversations as opposed to waiting each week to talk to a group of people that think they know what I am going through.
By the way the past 2 weeks have been really rough. With the help of CC members giving me advice and suggestions I have lost 1 pound and I am so happy. I hope this is a start of something good.

Figure out what type of eater you are and you might just find the answer to permanent weight loss.
