CC Works, but tired of counting

Quote  |  Reply

I had a great week last week. I shifted calories and I have broken a month long plateau. But I am getting SO tired of counting, logging et al.

I need to find ways to make it more bearable, because I just cannot give up.

I stopped using pen and paper to log everything with, and just keep it on my desk top computer. It helped for a couple of days, but then I get tired of counting again.

Make up a week's menu ahead of time.  That way you won't have to log every single day.  You can do it once a week.
It is annoying. But remember the last time you were hovering over that 700 calorie desert? Did you eat it or did you check your daily cc and decide a smaller portion or healthier choice? I continue logging even when it is a huge pain bc of all the times cc has stopped me from giving up or giving in to temptation. It has also kept me excersizing(which is amazing for me).

I think planning a menu in advance is a great idea. It's advice I should probably be taking. It's hard to answer your question since I enjoy logging my food. It's almost like a game to me when I'm adding my food and calories up and see what I have left over for the next meal. It's true that pretty much everyday of my life is consumed by the food I eat because of the fact that I'm constantly thinking about calories but the outcome has bee so beneficial that I wouldn't have it any other way. You've come so far, you've overcome a plateau, don't consider quitting now. Counting calories and understanding that I need to burn more than I consume to lose weight has changed my life forever and I will never "diet" again. I have changed my lifestyle completely and I think the change will be permanent and I owe it all to counting calories. In fact, I eat more of the foods that I love now since I've learned portion control and how to balance my diet. It's a great thing, don't quit. Good luck.

Thank you everyone, for your responses!

I'm batch cooking today, in order to have things more on hand and I will try to set a menu up. Each of you said something that was pretty much on target. Counting keeps me in line. If I'm not doing it, a dairy queen moolatta will derail me like nothing else.

In case someone reads this I wanted to share how I broke my plateau:

I went to calorie shifting 1772 calories per day alternating low days at around 1500 up to my highest of 2400.

I also increased my walking. I took two days out of the week and did one hour of walking in the morning and an hour in the evening (on the treadmill).

Thanks all :)

AAAAMEN!! I get tired of logging & counting sometimes, too, but it is the ONLY way I lose weight. No joke, the ONLY way! I think the weekly meal planning is a fantastic idea, too, as is the batch cooking, etc. that you're doing today. Keep at it, you'll be glad you did. :-)
