Cardio Focus: Active Rest
Take an extra walk today or take the stairs instead of the elevator. Stand up every now and then and move around, just to keep the blood flowing.
Strength & Flexibility Focus: Total Body Workout
You're doing the same workout as last week, still doing at least 2 sets of each exercise with 30-60 seconds of rest in between. The difference is that you'll add 2 reps per exercise, using enough weight that you can ONLY complete 14 reps.
Nutrition Focus: Green Tea
I’ve never been a huge fan of tea, but I recently started drinking green tea. There’ve been so many great studies out there about the benefits, I couldn’t stall any longer.
I put milk and sugar in mine to make it yummy. The special chemicals and antioxidants in green tea have a beneficial effect, including reducing your risk of:
- cancer
- rheumatoid arthritis
- high cholesterol levels
- cariovascular disease
- infection
- impaired immune function
It’s also believed that it may help you lose weight. Today, try a cup of green tea—get the caffeine-free kind if you’re worried about the jitters.
Motivation
Have I mentioned lately that motivation comes from within? It also comes from without, so don’t just count on your mind to do all the work. Sometimes you can trigger that motivation and today you’ll do that by writing down your goal on several pieces of paper. For example, if you’re trying to be healthier, you could write “I want to be able to walk up the stairs without being out of breath.” Take your pile of papers and put them in visible places so you’ll be reminded of why you need to exercise—try your computer monitor, your bathroom mirror, the refrigerator, the coffee pot—any place you visit throughout the day.
