Greek Yogurt Sauce Recipe - Saltsa Yiaourtiou

Hi, this is Lea Elleseff for About.com Food. Today I'm going to show you how to make a Greek-style yogurt sauce. This light and breezy recipe makes a great topping for potato dishes and salads, and works really well as a substitute for sandwiches and pita wraps.

Ingredients for Greek Yogurt Sauce

Here is what you'll need:

  • 16 oz. strained plain yogurt
  • 5-6 leaves mint
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1/3 c. + 2 tbsp. mayonnaise
  • 2 tbsp. red wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • a blender

Combine the Ingredients

Like I said, this recipe is breezy. All you have to do is blend all of the ingredients in the blender, except for the mayonnaise, on low speed until they're smooth and creamy.

For our next and last step we will pour the blended mixture in with the mayonnaise and gently whisk together.

And just like that, your Greek-style sauce is done and ready to serve. But please remember, if you're not going to serve it right away, refrigerate until you do.
