Don't give up. I've been on the pill for 4 years then got pregnant on the 4th month, but sadly had a miscarriage at 10 weeks. It took us nearly two years to conceive again, but are now happy & proud parents of a 9 month old boy.

I was losing hope and getting frustrated that it took so long the second time. Anytime my period is delayed by 1-2 days I would do a test, only to be disappointed. It was getting harder to get in a romantic mood when you get disappointed every month and your ovulations falls on a weekday, when you;re both tired and stressed from work. My decision not to get scraped after the miscarriage may have something to do with it, or maybe not.

We consulted a fertility specialist because we were getting impatient (I'm now 41), and even considered IUI and IVF. But first he ordered both of us to go through some tests (sperm count for him, and HSG for me), and based on that he convinced us to combine Clomid and ovulation test kit first. It worked the first time! Even more amazing is I conceived during hay fever season when I was taking some medication and thought these would interfere with conception. Our baby may be premature by 6 weeks, but otherwise he's developing on schedule if not ahead according to his due date.

Good luck!

Thank you so much!! Your story definitely gives me hope. We have yet to resort to a fertility specialist, but we will if it doesn't happen by the end of the year.

#1: Abortion does NOT lead to fertility problems. Pro-lifers seem to enjoy using that idea as a scare/guilt tactic, which I resent. I wish people wouldn't even put that out there.

It is my understanding that abortions that took place later than the first trimester can POSSIBLY lead to fertility problems.  I don't know about you, but my OB/GYN asks about all pregnancies and how they ended (miscarriage, abortion, etc.).  I presume they wouldn't ask unless it wasn't potentially necessary for them to know this info to best care for me.  I wasn't trying to guilt or scare the OP and, as I mentioned in my post, risks has to do with the type of abortion performed.

Most clinics will not even do an "abortion" (such an ugly word) after the first trimester because after the first trimester it is considered partial-birth infanticide.

Mine were both in the first trimester.

They do exist, but it is rare.... ESPECIALLY in California.

I have to say, I have found the rarest specimin EVER at my job. He's my supervisor, he just proposed to his girlfriend of 5 years, they're getting married on the beach in Hawaii (HIS choice), and he wants to have children with her as soon as possible.

This is so rare that I thought he was joking for the longest time, because men just aren't like that!

I figured that 3 months after the pill would be good, and honestly I wanted to get pregnant in the early summer time so that I wouldn't be at my biggest during the hottest months, but I don't think that's going to happen.

Of course now, in the 4th month of trying, my husband is having issues (he just started anti-depressants) so there's another wrench thrown into things.

Weight Loss Sleep Eating! Aug 20 2008

I once had a roommate who would sleep eat... and she would usually eat the food in the fridge/cupboard that wasn't hers! There were times she'd woken up with a half of a pie in her bed, chunks of corn tortillas.... all kinds of weird stuff. We started putting everything up in the higher cupboards to prevent it, and it did slow it down a little.

I'll probably end up going if it doesn't happen this month.

Ugh!  Pregnochondria is the worst.  You feel like something is different.  Was that implantation cramping?  Surely, you must be pregnant!  Then, the period arrives and it's back to the drawing board.

Tell me about it!! I've had 3 months of that so far and it's driving me crazy!! My breasts are tender, I must be pregnant! I'm feeling very lethargic, I must be pregnant! Grr...

The thing is... and I don't like talking much about this, but I have terminated 2 pregnancies before this (once because I was raped and the second time my husband and I had JUST gotten married and we weren't ready) and it seems like I'm fertile enough.

I have been paying a bit more attention to things like cervical mucous and stuff... but the rest of it is all Greek to me.

From what I've read, the best way to "reduce" stretch marks is to keep from gaining too much weight TOO fast.

If you read "What to Expect When You're Expecting," it gives a general idea of how much people should be gaining in the first, second, and third trimesters.

funny peeves. there are some irritable ppl in the world! strange how it came to be a 'what i don't like about ppl' forum.

my main peeve is water on the floor. i mean i hate it! esp if i'm not aware it's there until i walked into it in my socks.

cigarette smoke. i dunno if it qualifies as a peeve but it's NASTY! 'scuse me, but a smoking section in a restaurant is like a peeing section in a swimming pool.

and i correct the grammar of others silently all the time. it seems to be getting worse. reporters are even doing it on freakin' CNN! i think junior in the white house has had an unprecedented effect on the dumbing-down of america.

psychic-vampires. you know, the person who talks incessantly, never leaving you any breaks wherein you can actually participate in the conversation. they vamp all your attention, all the attention in the room.

oh, and for those of you who wrote bad drivers as a peeve. technically, it's not a peeve. it's a matter of life & death. in this city you'd think drivers need a license to operate a deadly weapon! i mean, they are the worst.

lessee, this is kinda fun. mouth breathing, snoring, open-mouthed chewers, ppl who can't laugh at farts & belches, republicans, reverse-racism, or racism, women who dress like a skank to go grocery shopping, oh, and my fave... women with massive breast implants who wear very low-cut and/or tight, brightly-colored or sheer shirts and then glare at you when you simply cannot avoid looking at them. i mean i'm not lesbian, not that i think there's anything wrong w/being lesbian, but, i mean, come on! who can NOT look?! and why dress like that if you don't welcome the attention, indiscriminately.

ok, back to it, people wearing shoes, and not sandals, without socks, ppl wearing socks with sandals, ppl wearing way too much cologne, old ppl who feel it's their right to look down their noses at me for sporting a large tattoo or for not brushing my hair or wearing makeup or something silly like that, being glared at by men, lewdly and not in an appreciative way, you know, the guys who are aroused by you and wanna stone you to death because of it, yea, those guys, creepy!

drunk frat-boys. i don't think this one requires an explanation.

sports fans at bars. i know i shouldn't go to a sports-bar, and i usually don;t, but when you're invited to someone's bday party there, ya kinda have to do it. i just don't like it when i am in the middle of a sentance, having a conversation with someone and they break away from it and suddenly yell at the top of thier lungs, "YEA, YEA, WOO-HOO, S#%T YEA!" as if they were never really paying attention and it's totally socially-acceptable to act like a jerk.

oh, and last but not least, certainly - DEADHEADS. gimme a break! i will never like the Grateful Dead and it's not because i haven't 'experienced' a live performance. it's because so many deadheads wanna cram it down my throat like a Jehovah's Witness at a satanist convention! i'm no more interested in the dead's music than i am joining the Krishna temple or the Jehovah's Witness camp.

ok, now i'm in a great mood. i feel better getting all that off my chest. sorry if i have offended anyone reading this. it wasn't my intention. but i am honest. you can't like everyone. and you certainly cannot get along with everyone and maintain sincerity. i value sincerity over 'being nice.'

Complete and total AWESOMENESS!!! Except for the cigarette smoke thing, because I smoke, but I can definitely understand why it bothers others. That's why I walk away from crowds when I smoke.

Lmao, if you want dramatic, pick up a container of Electric Lizard Manic Panic dye :'D

Reds (unless natural) fade out really quickly, which is probably why your hairdresser doesn't want to do it.

Personally I'd go darker and then add in some highlights.  :3

Reds do fade extremely quickly, but they do make tinted shampoos and conditioners to help maintain the color. (which I use with every other wash)

I also agree with vicereine about Special Effects being better... but Manic Panic has Vampire Red, which happens to be my fav.

As far as getting back on topic, I would have to see a pic to say for sure, but I'd say go for the darker of the choices. Darker is much more striking with light eyes.

Another peeve is people who drag their kids around all hours of the night, or allow them to be outside unsupervised at night.

Example one. I see whole families out and about (at Wal-Mart or the grocery store) at 2am. They have kids with them! Small kids. Like Infants through 10 years old. Why are these kids up and running all around Wal-Mart during the wee hours of the morning? And this isn’t just during the summer. I see it happening while school is in session. What’s the deal yo?

Example two. It was about 9:15pm tonight and I was out with my dog. Two kids, with no parents anywhere in sight, were sitting outside having a tea party. They looked about 6 and 8. Yeah, it was dark. No parents. Then the kids came up to me and asked to pet my dog. I could have easily snatched them up and no one would have seen me do it.

OMG!! I totally know what you mean!! In addition to that, I hate it when people let their kids run all over the place when they're out. They don't watch them or discipline them. They just let them run around touching everything, pulling stuff down, getting fingerprints all over everything, and they don't even care. I noticed it more often when I was in retail, but I still get it working at a credit union.

It may be more of an Orange County thing because the rich damn people around here don't even pay attention to their kids.

They usually don't let the customers know of systems merging. Sometimes when two systems merge, you have duplicate account numbers. Customer A from Bank A has the same account number as Customer B from Bank B. If the system merging creates too many duplicate accounts, then the bank usually goes to the previous night processing and do a restore. Then they have to do a reprocess after the duplicates are fixed. Most banks and companies (if they smart) will do this over a three day weekend to give them more time to fix any problems. Perferably not at month end.

Banks don't think about that kind of thing, unfortunately. The credit union I work for is doing an ATM systems upgrade which begins at the end of a month. They just do it as soon as they can whenever they can. *shrug* I'm not defending it because I think it's stupid, but there's not much that can be done, unfortunately.

I've been in banking for about 2 and a half years now, and from my experience your card is either demagnetized, or the bank's network was down for whatever period of time.

Oh and those damn croc shoes that have taken over the world! They seriously bother me. It's weird, I have never had an article of clothing or shoes that truly bothered me until these awful things. My boyfriend got a pair recently... and i freaked out... he seriously lost like 5 attractive points. I know this is crazy, but I can't help it!

I have to completely agree with you. What makes people think that those stupid things are fashionable?? They don't even look comfortable! They are the ugliest shoes I have ever seen in my life, and they look like they'd make your feet sweat way too much.

  • people who pause a lot while they're talking and/or say "uummmm" a lot. Seriously?? JUST SPIT IT OUT!!!
  • being made to repeat myself, especially to the same person multiple times
  • bad spelling/grammar
  • people who smell weird
  • people who stand too close to me in line. It's called a personal space bubble... respect it.

Addition:

People who have weird stuff going on with their face. (i.e. white stuff in the corners of their mouths, eye crusties, boogers hanging out, etc.) Come on, you're in public, consult a mirror before leaving the house, restroom, restaurant.

Yeah, I've been battling with depression for about 13 years, so I'm definitely well aware of the cycle of stress/depression/insomnia.

I have been walking on my 15 minute breaks at work, but I still feel the urge to exercise more when I get home, which can be anywhere between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.

I never drink coffee/caffiene after 2 p.m. and I find myself waking up multiple times during the night even when I take melatonin.

The idea of taking a warm bath before bed is something I have never tried though. I think I will definitely try that. I also need to try to remember take a notepad to bed with me so that I can just write out everything that's going through my head every night. I've done it before, and it does help, but I lie there and think "if I close my eyes long enough, I'll just fall asleep." HA! WRONG!

Motivation What are your reasons for wanting to lose weight? Aug 16 2008
00:42 (UTC)
1

I want to lose weight because I used to be thin not that long ago.

There was an angle at my shoulders from my neck to my arm, and now there's just a slope. I could see my collar bones, but now they're hidden by fat. I could see my cheek bones and my angular German features, but now my face is so swollen that you can barely see my jawline. I had definition in my calves and thighs rather than just two lumps of fat. I had abs that were to die for and now my stomach jiggles when I walk.

I want to be the way I once was. I used to be athletic. I want to look good in pictures again and not see a picture of myself all dressed up and wonder what the hell I was thinking when I put that outfit on. I want to look in the mirror and feel worthy of my husband's adoration. I want to show those 18 year old bitches at the club that a 27 year old can look better than them. (Yes, it is ENTIRELY true that women dress up and try to look good more for the same sex than for the opposite sex)

Wow, I really need this right now...I'm 29, 5'6" and 132lbs trying to shave off the last 7 or so (small frame).  I was SOOO close, down to 127 when suddenly mid-summer hit and vacations started and all my progress went out the window as I ate out in unfamiliar cities, went camping/floating, and now my birthday is next week (the big 3-0) and I know there's a party being planned, and dinners, and I just can't stand the idea of my whole summer of hard work being ruined over 3 weeks!!!!

Ok guys...strength...I need strength.  How do I decline a slice of birthday cake (carrot w/ cream cheese frosting, it really is my favorite) someone home-baked for me, or a slice of lasagna from a friend I see twice a year, or an after-work ice cream with the guys in the office (I work with all guys) as my "big birthday" salute?  I can't say I'm still dieting...they'd all laugh since I'm not the 210 lbs I used to be, so they think I should be "done."  Guess Sept. will be the month for restitution after August seriously sets me back...(btw I know to eat in moderation when it's the bad stuff, but even a small piece of my friend's awesome lasagna is like 500 calories...).  I feel doomed...

That's a tough one. I would have to agree with rubyblue12 and just take it easy on it. OR you can just work out extra for a couple of days after that.

I ate a philly cheesesteak sandwich yesterday which I found out was 734 calories!! Yikes! I felt so bloated afterward, but I walked 4 miles last night and I feel great today. I've even lost a pound since!

Ugh... I can't imagine giving up bread and butter!!! I'm a carb FREAK! Just everything in moderation.

I couldn't give up my beer and wine either. I just count my calories and leave room for a beer or two in the evening. Even so, I went out drinking last weekend and I didn't get all bloated or anything. Normally I would gain a couple of lbs. but I guess I've been active enough to keep those carbs at bay.

As far as 1 calorie beer.... maybe Michelob Ultra? That stuff tastes like carbonated water. Totally not worth it.

As far as any other habits you have, I still smoke.... so I'm not exactly being healthy there. I just figure once I get into the routine of exercising I'll be able to quit without putting on too much weight.
