I do think that you should tell her that it upsets you when she calls you "super-skinny". It seems like it would be a compliment, yes, but it feels very degrading. I hate it when my relatives refer to me as "skinny" now, because I'd never in a million years consider myself to be skinny. I like to be referred to as "healthy". Sounds weird, but "skinny" has this gross sound to it.

Also, you might try reminding her that she's trying to lose weight herself, and that she's getting results. Remind her that it takes time, and if she sticks with it, she'll get down to her ideal weight eventually. You (maybe?) were in the same boat as she was before you started.

:) Good luck! Sorry if this was unhelpful.

BTW you're not 'bingeing' on baby carrots and you're not 'gorgeing' when you eat out... you're body needs food for goodness' sake... it's hungry. Talking about yourself in negative terms does nothing for your self-esteem.

Thank you so much. Yes, now I realize that I don't gain weight from eating huge portions of food because I don't eat enough to begin with! It's just that I see adults on this site saying how they don't eat their entire entre at dinner, and how they only take a few bites of dessert. Also, it's kind of psychological, considering that those are all things that I would do before I lost the weight. I don't want to be that person anymore, if you can sort-of get where I'm coming from. So, if my eating patterns start to resemble my old ones now, I get upset. It's really messed up, now that I think about it. Frown It's an issue that I'm going to talk to my school counselor about very soon.

Also, I'm aware of the weight gain that ensues with coming out of starvation mode. I gained about four "pounds" one day (because I ate a lot before and after a rowing event one afternoon), and then in about five days, it was gone. I'm just concerned with the statistic of "95 percent of dieters gain the weight back, plus extra". I'm determined to be part of the five percent that keeps it off for good, and I want to do this the healthy way.

ducklingerthank, thanks for your advice. I'm now pretty much aware that I'm not eating enough. Considering, however, that a few weeks ago, I was eating 600-800 calories a day, I've managed to add quite a few in. Of course I'm going to start eating more, but for now, I'm trying to add them in slowly, so that it's not like a huge shock all at once.
