| Weight Loss | Excess skin and surgery | Sep 08 2008 14:05 (UTC) |

I have lost 100lbs and I have been overweight most of my life im 21 but at 8 got sick with JRA very very bad and took medcines that made me gain alot of weight but I would have died without them so yeah not much of a choice there on what I had to do. Im finally in remission for a few years getting off the weight 2/3 of the way done 50lbs more to go. My doctor said since my skin has been stretched out for so long it would shrink back some which it has with working out and good diet. But that I would need surgery to get rid of the worst of it on my tummy and arms. I have never ever had a surgery or even been put under for any reason so im abit nervous about it. Your def. not alone with this and it is something many people im sure who lose alot of weight struggle with. |

for me the biggest struggle is forcing myself to exercise here recently I used to love it but im getting kind of bored with it. I can eat healthy all day long I was the weird kid who loved brussel sprouts when I was younger. Even staying in my calorie is easy for me being vegan it is very hard unless you eat alot of junk to go over 1500 in a day. It is just finding the motivation to move my ass that is starting to get to me after 18 months and 100lbs off so far. I guess im in a exercise funk. That is whats killing me atm lol guess there are prolly people worse off then me though so idk. |

Here is what I do for low cal cooking Such as stiry fry I cook my rice stove top in a low sodium veggie broth. I add extra water so when the rice is done it has like 1/4 cup water left in it the water is usually pretty thick from cooking rice. it doesnt work if it is instant rice which is totally worthless anyway cuz it is stripped of its vitamens. while it cooks i steam my veggies to cut out the cooking in oil or soysauce bit to save cals. then i mix the veggies in with my rice which has some liquid reserve into a skillet on low heat let it simmer and at the end add abit of soysauce like 2 teaspoons for something that makes 4 servings. It wont be the same but it is very very good and oil free so that saves 50-100 calores for oil plus another 100 calories for extra sauce. I also agree to cut down the portion of fish as well. the veggie broth thing works great to add flavor without missing sauce and sodium. I would use rice other then noodles rice seems have abit more punch for less calories i think 1/4 cup uncooked brown rice has about 100 calories and makes tons and tons of cooked rice. |

| Weight Loss | how long do you wait in between meals? | Aug 31 2008 19:08 (UTC) |

I keep it simple I eat slowly when I eat chew every bite 20 times stop eatting when Im full and pick up eatting again when Im hungry. Sometimes it is 3 meals and two snacks sometimes 3 meals and one snack. But usually I try to eat the bulk of my calories in breakfast and lunch and lessen up for dinner and evening snack. Salad for dinner and apple for evening snack or something. I wake up at 7 am and go to bed around 10-11 so it works good for me. I think everyone is different but the most important thing is to listen to your own body it knows what you need. I have lost 100lbs in 18 months doing this takes a few weeks to really learn to listen to your body but it is worth it if you ask me. |

I liked Ham and cheese hot pockets. I also used to love to heat up chips ahoy in the microwave. Pints of Ben and Jerrys sometimes two a day if I had a really bad Binge. Another favorite was 3 slices of toast with butter 2 fried eggs with the yolk uncooked with 3 slices of fried bologna and two or three slices of amercian cheese all in a sandwhich I used to have it for an after school snack or some mornings for breakfast. |

TOFU TOFU TOFU it is super cheap, well here it is anyway. You can crumble it and add abit of soy sauce and cumin and tumeric and add some veggies to it for a tofu scramble for breakfast. Bake it into cassarols at night, and grill it with some marainade for a quick sandwhich. It is so veristile and much cheaper then fake meat. Soft is good for smoothies, and extra frim for makeing the scramble for breakfast, cassaroles, and grilling. And I find it makes me abit less Gasy then tons of beans but that is my opinon on it. |

| Vegetarian | Veg*ns, do your friends and family cater to your needs? | Aug 11 2008 14:08 (UTC) |

Im vegan, and my family is very supportive. My husband eats no meat at home and none when we get out to eat. He only eats meat when im not around, and then only maybe once a month. When we go to families homes I just offer to cook for everyone and since im the best cook, everyone always accepts my offer. I make vegan fair, such as vegan pancakes, vegan lasagna, tofu brownies, and many other things most people can not tell a difference. Most people are very opened minded to trying vegan food as long as it doesn't come with guilt for there meat eatting habbits from the vegan. I dont try to change everyone I simply show them how good and healthy vegan food can be, and slowly it is changing them for the better. That is all really anyone can do. |
