Invest in a heart rate monitor and a digital weight scale for your food. You'll thank me later.

Thanks pgeorgian, I'll keep that in mind the next time I venture into the city.

I'm not terribly interested in whether or not the fat burning thing holds any truth, I've just been interested in trying the tea. :-)

Congratulations! I know exactly how you feel about this mystery 5 lbs, because I've had it happen. It's like one day you weigh yourself, and then the very next time POOF!, 5 lbs are gone. I dare not question it, I just smile and move on... heh. :-)

Weight Loss too much peanut butter Sep 15 2008

I LOVE grilled PB & J sandwiches! So much that I've decided to fit one into my diet at least every other day. I have a problem getting a lot of fat in my diet so the peanut butter certainly helps. 1 serving on the sandwich is just enough, although sometimes I wish I could have a little more peanut butter on the sandwich. ;-)

Weight Loss Daily Sugar Intake Sep 15 2008
03:28 (UTC)

I could cut out most of my sugar by cutting out/down on my fruits, but that's something I refuse to do. I make a protein shake with a banana and strawberries after my workouts (and milk, which accounts for 16 grams of sugar right there), so it's just not going to happen. :P

I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm just saying that there's no way _I_ could ever stick close to 40 - 60 grams per day at all.

EDIT: Okay, after analyzing my sugar intake for the last week, it seems I may have overestimated my sugar intake a little bit. A "Normal" day for me just breaks 100, with my average per day this week being 121 grams. Not even close to the 200 I had thought before. And 400? YEAH RIGHT! Haha.

Weight Loss P L A T E A U - what was your trick? Sep 15 2008
03:25 (UTC)

I hit a plateau at 200 lbs, after losing 20. I stayed at 200 for about 2 weeks before I tried zig-zagging/cycling my calories by +300 or -300 or so per day. It's been working so far, pretty effectively I might add.

Weight Loss Any other Low cal High Energy Breakfasts? Sep 15 2008

I have some multi-grain oatmeal with added cinnamon, ~12 grams of All-Bran Original cereal mixed in, and a nectarine. Depending on the size of the nectarine I may or may not have room for a carrot. It covers fats/carbs/protein well enough, and the nectarine gives me some sugar to burn right in the morning.

If not, I can't go wrong with Kashi brand cereal and some Skim Plus milk, or All-Bran/Fiber 1 Original with some Multi-Grain Cheerios and milk.

I even bought some Eggos with added fiber today (2 Eggos @ 170 cal, the same as my oatmeal) to try them out. They look pretty tasty but I won't know until tomorrow morning!

I just quickly skimmed over the comments, so I don't know if it's been mentioned. But if I absolutely had to I'd have no problem grabbing something from Edo Japan. Portions aren't overly big and are pretty balanced meals. Teriyaki chicken with rice and veggies = mmmgoodness.

Unfortunately it seems to be fairly non-existant outside of Canada, with only a few stores scattered around the USA.

Weight Loss How much weight had you lost when people started noticing? Sep 15 2008

I started getting comments around 18 lbs, and have gradually been getting more as the weight continues to melt off. I'm up to about 33 lbs lost in 3 1/2 months and have a little ways to go (shooting for 17 more/50 lbs total), but some of my family whom I haven't seen in months are going to be surprised!

Weight Loss I can't get rid of this belly! Sep 15 2008

My belly is still pretty big considering, but I am running out of areas to lose fat so it's going to have to start coming off sooner or later (make no mistake, it has shruken considerably, just not as much as I'd have expected). I've heard that males usually lose their bellies last so I'm not too concerned because I know it'll be gone before I know it, thus revealing my coveted 6-pack abs. :-)

I would have to say maybe another kilo? I dropped a pants size at every 10 lbs lost personally, so losing around 5 lbs total to make your current ones fit properly would be a fair estimate...?

I've searched for Oolong tea before without having success. Guess I'll have to try a health store. :P

My "usuals" or things I must have on hand always are: milk, sardines, tuna, cucumber, whole wheat bread, lean turkey breast lunchmeat, Kashi chewy 7 grain bars with almonds, fibre 1 original, fibre 1 oats & chocolate/oats & peanut butter bars, frozen fish filets (tilapia, basa, sole etc), strawberries, bananas, yogurt, oatmeal, all-bran cereal, chocolate (70% dark at least, 85% preferred), peanut butter, strawberry/raspberry jams, vinegar, brown rice, light cheese, lean angus beef patties, green teabags, chicken breast/thighs, cauliflower, and broccoli. I'm sure I am forgetting a few items. Most of my daily consumption comes from a combination of these foods so I need to have them all on hand at all times.

Whenever I make up a burger, I usually side it with a HUGE bowl of caesar salad. Yummy!

Weight Loss Daily Sugar Intake Sep 14 2008

Recommended is 40 grams or so, but I find that number impossible to adhere by. I can hit over that by my second meal alone, without even trying. Most of my days end up in the 100 - 200 gram range (although some days can exceed 400 grams... very seldomly) which I consider acceptable and reasonable for myself. Considering I was a HUGE pop drinker and candy bar eater before I started dieting and exercise this amount of sugar is nothing compared to the amount I used to consume. And besides, most of it now is natural, not refined. :-)

Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey, Chocolate. Tasty, isolate, very soluble. Lots of shops online.

I've heard that's the best one as well, but I have yet to try any of the flavors. I currently use Six Star Muscle, both chocolate and vanilla flavors and I love them. I can grab them for $21 for 2 lbs and I like the way they taste in my shakes, but I might head to a GNC store and grab a pound or two of a few flavors of ONGS 100% Whey and see how I like those.

I normally end up over the recommended on most days without trying, but I don't let it bother me. Looking at my last week of food consumption, I averaged 45 grams per day. What can I say? I love how fiber keeps me full for longer! :-)
