I just had to come back here to post that I finally reached my Driver's License Weight today (150 pounds).  I only had to lose 24.5 lbs. to get there, LOLLaughing  So I've reached another milestone on my weight-loss/get-healthy quest.  This feels very good.

Last week, I hit the 20 pound loss milestone.  I still have a long to go, but something occurred to me.  I had just purchased a 20 bag of dog food and had to carry it home about 2 blocks.  It was darn heavy and I was quite out of breath when I finally set it down in my kitchen.  Then I realized that is what 20 pounds feels like and that's how much I've lost.  WOW!  That was certainly a Ah-Ha moment for me.  So I feel good about that.Laughing

Eating only 800 calories will produce that much-sought-after initial quick weight loss, but in the long run, you will stop losing weight because your very efficient metabolism will adjust down to the new caloric intake and stop burning calories.  This is our bodies natural defense system against famines, but it turns against us in the modern world of abundant food availability.

My advice is to keep your body "guessing" by varying your daily intake, so that "on average" (say over the past 7 days), you are meeting your recommended daily intake of 1500.  This will produce a healthy 1-2 pound weekly loss, and minimize those "plateaus" that people seem to experience when their bodies just don't want to give up any more pounds.  And your food satisfaction will also enable you to stay on track and not "binge" from the psychological deprivation factor.

In the Chicago area, we have an Italian Beef chain called Buona Beef.  They have 3 sizes on their beef sandwich, and the Piccolo (italian for "small") is only 300 calories.  Very satisfying.  I find that in most fast food places, if you can just resist the french fries, you're fine.  I also like that so many places have nutritional info on their websites.  That is really helpful.

Of course I had to pull out my license and check.  OOOOPS!  I've lost 12.5 pounds in about 10 weeks, so I figure I'll match my ID in another 10 weeks.  LOL.  Thanks for posting.  It's good to have another milestone to shoot for to keep me motivated.Smile

I love Smart Start Original Antioxidant with 1 cup fresh strawberries and 1/2 cup skim milk.  Mmmmmm, yummy.  Also, Special K Blueberry (new) and Special K Vanilly Almond are scrumptious.  These can also be used to satisfy that late night sugar craving without too much damage.Smile

For Barbatois:  I'm curious.  How did you arrive at this strategy?  And why does it work?
