Weight Gain Trying to help out BF with ridiculously good metabolism! Aug 11 2008

My boyfriend is the same, he is 'too thin' and is trying out the protien powder shakes at the moment.. they make him feel ill too lol

Does your bf go to the gym? i think he probably just needs to build muscles since he obviously burns fat easily..

Me and my bf have started going to the gym, lifting weights, and i do the running stuff too since im trying to lose some weight that i put on since we met (2yrs ago).

Its funny because we had been going in the opposite direction, he slightly under and i slightly over lol. But he hates it so he is convinced building muscle will be the only way he will be 'bigger' which is true i think, because he has "no muscle" really.. so i dont think its a matter of being fatter but being "buffer".

Its fun at the gym, im enjoying it. Would it be hard to fit in 30min a day (or every second) -if you have a child and/or work? (if you havnt allready started going that is..)

It's hard because i cook for the two of us too, im going to start making different meals for the both of us.

Oh and the protein thing, if you are working out (alot of weights) you should be eating at least 1 - 1.6g of protein per kg of weight you are... otherwise just 65-120g will be sufficient (depending on how active you are), anything over wont really do anything unless your body is using it to make new muscle. (And if you dont eat enough your body starts 'eating' your muscles, maybe you know that allready though)

Im trying not to eat read meat as much since it has alot more fat than, say, chicken... im sure (if you are concerned about your weight?) that if you cook poulty more often then he gets the protein and you dont have to worry about the fats, just let him have more pasta (or something) so he gets more calories and carbs. Oh and carbs bind the fat cells which makes it 'difficult' to burn off, if that helps too.

K, i think thats all i've got for now n_n

i dont understand this facination with penut butter... in oatmeal?! that is gross.

I like it, but i havn't gone out of my way to buy it for like a year... i probably only buy it once a year, if that.

I do like chocolate, but just crave it, dont eat it all the time.....hmmmm still thinking...

At the moment i really like hard boiled eggs with salt mmmmmm but it is probably just a faze, i dont really get hooked onto things for extremely long periods of time.

Miso soup was another one but havn't bothered to make it for ages, got a pack in the cupboard.T

Something that i had just before that reall filled me up was hot rice, plain with japanese soy sauce sprinkled on it.

I cut a large tomato up and salted it, had it on the side of the rice. Its really low in calories and is a small meal that tastes really yummy even though there is not much to it.

Around 1cup of cooked white rice is about 150 cal.

A tomato is around 20 cal.

Enjoy!

Put on weight? Like as muscle? I think you should foccus on protein and exercise.

Eating some protein 45 min before going to the gym, running, playing sport, will help you make muscle, which is probably the only way your going to put on weight eating healthy. Anyways, you dont want to have fat unless you are so thin you have no fat in which case your body will be using your muscles and bone for energy.

Make sure you are eating quite regularly and not eating less calories than what you burn.

Eggs have protein and healthy fats (only 1.something- saturated), you should make a habbit of having one for breakfast n_n
