Weight Gain protein question Sep 26 2008

Original Post by tuffstuff07:

You should not be getting more than 1.5 g/kg of body weight.

Even consistently that much is hard on your kidneys--ESPECIALLY during ED recovery, when it's hard enough for your body to learn to digest properly and get it's enzymes back into gear.

My guess is protein foods are "safe" for you.  Since I started working I have noticed that protein foods are some of the top ED safe foods, right up there with low calorie items, fruits, and veggies.

For YOUR best interests substitute a shake like boost or ensure, snacks like nutter butters and ritz crackers, and only eat protein in the forms that naturally come on the "side" or in you peanut butter or meat dishes [made WITH a grain like pasta dominating].

Extra protein or protein over those things only does good things for ED.  It does bad things for YOU.

What are you going to choose? Something for ED or something for you?

And as usual, it comes down to the action.  It'll be scary as heck at first, but once you make the decision to take your life in your own hands [away from ED], don't let yourself think about it [aka listen to ED screaming as you kick him], it'll get easier.  And you'll FEEL so much better for LIFE!  Definitely worth a little shaking in the boots in the moment. ;)

What? That sounds like nonsense. More protein doesn't aide your ED. In fact, it's been proven that unless you eat like 600g of protein per day, you probably won't have any sort of kidney problems, as long as you drink enough water. I don't think scaring her into eating one less type of food is going to help.

She didn't say that you have to workout, she was using the phrsal verb "work out" as in modify and come up with.

But for the strengthening exercises, you could do bodyweight exercises such as push ups and pull ups.

But you will notice that she fell out of the public spotlight after Titanic when she gained about 25 pounds.

Maybe because Titanic was and still is the top-grossing film in the US? People don't shun media personalities just because they gain weight.

Original Post by caloricat:

Yet another example of someone trying to use personal insults and attacks once they've run out of things to contribute.  Yet another example of a person drawing conclusions that are incorrect.

I'm sure when this person has children of thier own, they'll undertand just how insulting and unacceptable it is to bring someone's children into petty arguements.  Either that, or they'll make the mistake of doing so in a place where  they can't hide behind a computer screen and the negative reaction will educate them.

This is you.

Original Post by caloricat:

It's hard to make a judgement without height.  But that woman is at best overweight...significantly.  I don't think she's "obese", perhaps I mispoke...but she is nowhere near her "ideal weight", not as specified by me, but as specified by the US government, this website, etc...

Original Post by caloricat:

Are these "ranges" good?  No.  I remember meeting 2 girls in college that were about 2-2.5 when I met them.  They were just a little too far outside my range...so I didn't pursue them.  Both ended up losing weight years later and ended up in the 7 range.  This was sort of a kick in the nads because these are 2 of the 3 women I've met in my life that had just perfect personalities...they would have made great partners over the long term.

What nonsense. As an overweight person yourself, what right do you have to be so judgemental? You aren't representing men with your opinion, many of us males are disgusted with your opinions.

Original Post by caloricat:

I was actually waiting for the calls to start coming in for bigger women...but outside of one vote for Queen Latiffa...there wasn't any.

Because obviously the girl in that photograph is that big.

I think we should henceforth ignore this thread. Your arguments are growing rather stupid and you are throwing out a lot of self-righteous nonsense. (hypocritical? I care not)

Your opinion isn't ever going to change and you think you're right and on the moral highground but in actuality, you are just a troll and everyone in this thread but you knows it. Many of your points are flawed but I can't be bothered to argue against them because there's no point feeding the troll.

Seriously, stop writing all this rubbish, you're not convincing anyone. Pick up a sport or something.

Maintaining A question about FAT! Sep 24 2008
12:55 (UTC)
Original Post by thhq:

Auggh! Interesting joust, but what was the question? What is better to eat at night, fats or carbs, I think. Personally I sleep better if I eat something fatty like a cookie or PB toast (type of fat doesn't make much difference to me) rather than something high carb like popcorn, dry toast or yogurt. But in terms of maintaining weight the effects of eating high fats (and salts) lasts for days, while the effects of eating high carbs lasts for hours. In other words the effect of night carbs on my scale weight the next morning aren't as noticeable as night fats. Over the course of a week it all balances out if I maintain that 100-200 calorie per day deficit. Hope this helps your bedtime snack selection.

That's probably because fats digest much slower than carbs. Personally, I prefer fats too.

Original Post by corduroyfirekills3:

Don't mind the die hard comments. Obviously a scale is the most accurate way to go, but you also clearly said for when you're eating out, etc.

Why would you want to eat out? Restaurants are full of caloric terrors! And if your pesky "friends" drag you to a restaurant, why can't you bring your food scale with you???

I remember what you're talking about. A serving of chicken is the palm of your hand, a serving of starch (potato rice or pasta) is your closed fist, an ounce of cheese is a domino. 2 tbsp of a condiment is the size of a golf ball. They're inaccurate but if you're keeping portion size in mind you're already doing well for yourself.

And if you want to be a true CC'er I'm sure someone can sell you a carrying strap for your scale so you'll never be caught without it.

Eh, because you don't want to let your diet affect your social life? If you withold from eating at restaurants for long periods of time during weight loss, you'll be frightened as hell to eat out again after you're done.

They both have their own pros and cons. Soy products are mostly on the market for vegans and those who are lactose-intolerant. Health-wise, both are good for you, so just drink whichever you think tastes better.

SOriginal Post by skinnycow52:

So my only real problem with the way my body looks is my mid section...and not my hips and thighs just my stomach..anyway I know that spot reduction is a myth but if you worked out one body part more and/or harder then the rest...what kind of effect would that have???

for example:

let's say i did the elliptical for 10 min, low row for two reps, side bends for 4 reps, lat pull down 2 reps, oblique twist 2 reps....basically doing an ab exercise after every muscle group

In very simplified terms, since you're having a caloric defecit, it'll just work your muscles there more meaning you'll lose less of them.

Original Post by la_fadeaway:

Are you sure you're putting on muscle? Nothing you are doing seems like anything that would give you those results. Really, the light weights are the only strength building you are doing and "light" weights won't cause you to gain muscle, especially in a calorie deficit. Are you sure it's not water weight or something else?

This.

It isn't muscle.

Definitely. People will definitely treat someone they see as a potential mate better. But this may be inverse for same-sex because of jealously. But generally, people who look better have more friends, are more confident etcetera, thus are treated well by those in the same gender anyhow.

Hello all, haven't been posting much recently due to exams. Anyway, I've been doing the hundred push ups challenge and it's really good for those whom want to be fit but not exercise too excessively.

I'm currently at the last day of Week 3, it's really great. In the past, 10 push-ups would kill me, I can do more than 20 now without breaking.

Anyway, my examinations are next week, stress is fun!

toast-

Your post reminded me of a radio show I heard friday morning.  Apparently there is an Italion model that is selling her virginity for 1.2 million dollars.  The radio hosts posed the question to their listeners, "if you had 1 million dollars and could spend it to sleep with any one celebrity/singer...who would it be?"

The answers included names like Jessica Biel, Natalie Portman, Danica Patrick, Megan Fox, Alicia Silverstone, Kate Hudson, Elisha Cuthbert, Heidi Klum, Heather Locklear, Queen Latiffa (the radio hosts didn't get that one either), Alyssa Milano, Kate Beckinsale, Denise Richards, Laura Prepon, Katherine Heigl, Salma Hayek, and Diane Lane.  I just thought the question was interesting because, due to this forum, I was actually waiting for the calls to start coming in for bigger women...but outside of one vote for Queen Latiffa...there wasn't any.

Why would my post remind you of that? :?

Anchoring

Availability Heuristic

False Consensus Effect

  1. Are you not doing the same thing?
  2. Does this mean that all opinions are essentially only that of the individual unless proven by a mojority vote of the worldwide population?

1. No, I have not made any arguements at all. In fact, I have not declared support for either side. I'm just saying that you need to note this common biases when making your arguement.

2. Theoretically, yes. But in a community/society, most of the time, this vote is a vocal one. Like people agreeing on an issue. For example, Presidential Candidate A might say, "We want change.", if the people roar in support, that's equivalent to "voting".

The point I'm trying to make is that you really need to rally your points together and make a clear and concise argument (As in number your points and write it in an essay format since you've dedicated so much time to this) and debate in a neat order point by point. Then you can best access the general opinion of males.

EDIT:

Also, quit attacking people so much, even if they attack you. You must realise that you're the one with the unpopular opinion thus people will completely shun your arguments if you insult someone else (even if that person insulted you).

and I still think that reporting these sites can help at least reduce the amount of stuff that is published out there for anorexics and bulimics alike. This with putting up good websites would be a great contribution.

Reporting these sites to who? There's no internet police and no country owns the internet.

Besides, there's always this thing about freedom of speech and you shouldn't screw around with that. Much of the media you read enjoy much freedom of speech so don't take it forgranted. It's better. Really.
