well at the begining of the summer i was in the inpatient clinic at the hospital. i currently get weighed and checked once a week, so i am always seeing the doctor. every time i go they ask if i have gotten my period yet..and i'm always like nope not yet...i just don't get it..they said that if i don't get it by 125 they are going to give me a pill to see if my body is ready..to speed everything up...but i just don't get why i don't have it now......i shouldn't need the medication..cauase i should be able to get it now...idk. |

| Weight Gain | increasing fast or slowly better..? what about metabolism? | Sep 21 2008 19:59 (UTC) |

i was upped extremely fast....i went from little +a ton of exercise to 4000+ calories and very little exercise..... my doctors in the hospital said "the faster we get everything going the better" also getting a lot of calories in gets your body to trust you again..and know that you will be feeding it and it doens't have to savor on every little calorie....currently i am gaining 1-2 pounds a week on 4000 calories...and my metablolism is pretty much amazing...which is bad in a way b/c i need to gain weight..but good for my health and obvious reasons..also my doctors figured the faster i gain weight the faster i get my period and the faster i become healthy.... |

| Fitness | addicted to exercise? | Sep 21 2008 19:52 (UTC) |

i used to be extremely addicted to exercise..to the point where i was harming my body more than helping it. i still am a little obsessed but it has been reduced by a lot.. i used to work out for two hours at the gym after coming home from practice from school..i was wearing my body out....every time i didn't do the extra exercise session though i felt horrible. i began to plan my days around exercise...this is very unhealthy.. the extreme exercise led to rapid weight loss..unhealthy..and so i was brought to the hospital....7 dayss.....(my addiction to exercise led to me trying to eat extremely healthy..which led to me not eating enough.) now i am exercising a normal amount and i have rest days. when i don't exercise i can deal and it doesn't bother me anymore.. soooo don't feel bad if you don't exercise and try to just exercise for fun...don't force yourself because then it becomes a hassel and work. remember that exercise is just part of what makes you healthy and missing one day won't ruin everything you have worked for.

| Weight Gain | feeling like rubbish | Sep 04 2008 00:33 (UTC) |

just keep working. you can do it. the discomfort will get better with time. currently i am eating 4000 calories and i find that these pills my dietition gave me help with the discomfort and bloating. the pills help move the food through the body faster by creating more enzymes..i think..but anyway your body is getting healthy and the weight you feel like you put on is probably mostly water weight cause your body is rehydrating. also, when i was in the hospital and had to start gaining weight i was given Ensure drinks. they are bottles of nutrients and health and made eating less painful. focus on dense food too it helps with the stomach pain. |

i too am working to gain weight before my basketball season in the winter. i am 5'5" and i dropped from 125 to 104 in two months before summer. i have been on a 4000 calorie diet..making me gain aobut 2 pounds each week. trust me you are going to need more than 1200 calories to gain..so just enjoy it. i recenlty have been able to break through my "bad" "good" food labels..and im trrying to just enjoy the foods i was avoiding..last night i went to cold stone creamery..and i have been trying to just eat like a normal person again |

how is exercising for 1 hour a day with a rest day each week affecting the ratio?? ...i really don't want to cut or shorten my exercise since it helps me get through the day and it speed s my body up so its easier to handle the 4000 calorie meal plan..everything gets moving..enough said. but i do 30 min cardio and 30 weight lifing on some days then others i do all cardio.

before the weight loss i was 125ishh..my highest weight was like 132 last summer though...that was before my swim season. But before the weight loss i was about 125, which is where they want to get me back to. i deff. don't want to gain above 125 though. at 120-125 i have the most energy...and i feel i have the best sports performace. thanks for the reassurance about the weight distribution...i just hate how my arms and legs and butt look the same as when i was 104..and my stomach is the only thinggg taking everything in. also..if im taking in 4000 calories now, what do you think i will take to maintain...with 1 hour workout 6 days a week.......also one more question...what does your body fat percentage have to be to get your period..cause im getting that measured tuesday or wednesday this coming week by my dietition. |

i am following a nutrition plan assigned to me, which consists of 11 meats, 16 starch, 10 fruit, 6 vegi, 9 milk, and 9 fat..i use an exchange sheet..this is suppose to be about a 4,000 calorie diet. i have a question now...becuase i follow the numbers given..and sometimes i go over and everythingg..but if it doesn't add up to 4,000 calories on this counter should i eat more....and what should i eat more of?? what group would be the most beneficial?... and yeah.this has deff. been a long summer...im stuckkk with all of these limitations..which i feel will never go away. i'm nervous for this coming monday too because last week i didn't gain any weight since i went to nyc with some friends and i couldn't follow my normal routine.now if i dont gain like i was earlier they will take away exercise time..which would be extremely hard for me..and practiclaly impossibe.. |

my doctors are already involved. i was in the hospital for a week at the begining of the summer because of the rapid weight loss and a prolonged qt (a heart thing). after that i became an out patient..and i am currently going back to the hospital every week to get weighed. the doctor plans on me reaching 125 in about two weeks..since i gain 1.5-2 pounds each week.then she said that at 125 she will give my body some time to get a period. then if i don't get it in 3 monthsishh..she will give me some medication that will test my healthy weight...idkk. currently i am working out for 1 hour 6 days a week..and i can't participate in sports until i reach 125. before this whole weight loss my period was extremely irregular tooo..so do you think that will mean it will take longer too?? does anyone know any ways to speed up the process...cause doesn't it depend on body composition??.. |
