Weight Loss Binging is making me HATE myself Jun 16 2009

wow.  Its amazing how similar two people can be...  Im a runner too.   And I have the problem of binge eating.

I know exactly what your going through.  - working out for hours, then eating everything you burnt off plus more.

I have always binged on healthy foods too.   (maybe its an athlete thing.)    =]

This problem has given me a really low self esteem.   I wish I could just eat that dessert when Im with my friends, in stead of alone in my kitchen.

eh... I know this doesnt help.   But just lettin ya know im in the same boat.

wow.  i feel the exact same way.      like my coach is mentioning that i am not 'built' the same way i was last year.   and yeah,  maybe i have gained 5 lbs.   but really?!    everybody i know has to make some sort of a comment,   cause i used to look unhealthly skinny and now i look 'average'  ..... but all of the stupid comments add up, and really mess with how you feel about your body.

donikatus-    i am absolutly in LOVE with cross country and i highly recommend it to everyone.  (athletic and non).           you shouldnt be worried that you will 'drag' the team down.    because if your school's is anything like mine. they will be happy to have another one out.   (not the most popular sport)    hating running is a mutual feeling.   and cross country is a mental sport.   it doesnt matter if you are the fastest one out there.   but you learn to have the will-power to keep going even though your body wants to pass out.

and on a bright side,  you burn massive amounts of calories and only work half as long as the football/volleyball players.    =]

i know exactly what you mean,  during cross country/basketball/track season.. i am constantly running/ lifting weights.     and i will come home after not eating very much through out the day and binge during dinner.    ... or i will come home late at night and have a huge snack.       i really need to stop.

but things will hopefully get better now that i am concious of what i am doing.

ive recently thought that it would be smart if i started eating less and healthier.

im an athlete and participate in cross country, track, and basketball.

during the summer though i didnt do much physical activity, and i continued to eat the same amount. so of course i gained weight.

and now that school/ sports are starting i NEED to get back down.
