today's eats;

B; boild egg, 60g crunchy raisin ban cereal, soy milk, 1 peach

S1; pecan braid danish(400 kcal! danish has been big EE for me as it has lots of fat, but hey, it was so good!! Worth trying;)

L; sandwich made with WW toast, cottage chees, 1/2 avogado, and veges, a sclice of cheese, grapes

S2; oatmeal made with soy milk, 1/2 banana, 2tbs of choc chip, coconuts, mashmallws(I thought putting mashmallow is nice idea but it melted and didn't taste much...)

D; fajita made with lamb, veges, and 2 slices of toltilla

S3: berry flavored yogurt, home made oats bar

rebel; Thanks for he explanation about oatmeal. Now I got some knowledge!  SO if I want to make it quick, then I should buy non-tradtional oats, right? And  your snack ideas are wonderful! I cannot come up with so many varieties so always stack with similar options. Also I cannot store many thing as I share house with others.But I will use your idea.I alreadt wrote down some*(^^)*Thanks!!

lala; Thank you for the info about oats and snack ideas. I myself, usually use 40g of oatmeal and was surprised how much swell up after it was cooked(*_*)  By the way, you seem to eat edamame often. Did you know "eda-mame" is Japanese? ( means...branch beans, maybe?) I didn't know you use it in English like sushi or tsunami. It's very nice, isn't it? It is one of typical japanse summer image, with beer!!!

agru; yes, when I lost weight in japan, my ED was so happy even Mio( my name) knew that I shouldn't have lost and eat more. and kept losing... Now Mio's voince is stronger and working on weight gain. I eat close to 3000kcal but havent changed much. I think I need to increase. I also stuck with same option every day not becase of ED but beacuse of other reason( financially, environment...) I usually eat same thing for lunch and  breakast with minor changes but try to have more vrieties for dinner. I think lala has posted this but I think "GOOD FOOD" ( recipe colection) is very helpful.

gibbit;;yes, I think i was stressed even though I didn't realized. Just living with my parents again had been stressed as I had been living by myself for a long time. 

I would say 4am meal should be "pre-breakfast" as others said already becasuse it's more close to begining of next day.( i think revel explained much better)

Zebulancherry; Yor menu looks nice:)  Have something you want to eat there even if you have chosen one in already. You have to gain weight anywat and  more than that, that's normal people do!! Ehave a good time a the party!

B; UNCLE TOBBY'S cereal 60g, soymilk. mixed nuts, 2 plums

I just bought this cereal becasue it was on sale and looked delicious. but when I tasted it. it was too plain.... needed lots of nuts. I wish I could get kashi cereals here becasue they look so nice!

m/t; cottage chees mixed with honey and mixed nuts, yogurt coated chewy bar

l; sandwithmade with 2 rye toast, cottage cheese, fresh veges, and avogado. 1 slice of cheese, apple

a/t; 40g oatmeal cooked with apple, cinammon, cconuts, soymilk

today's meals;

Breakfast; 1 pack of Cup de oats (240kcal) made with F/ F(! )soy milk,1tbs of mixed nuts and coconuts,  1 serve of grapes.

Morning tea; UP&GO, light yogurt (changed from non-fat)…makes up close to 400kcal

Lunch; sandwich made( 2lice of rye toast, fresh veges, 2tbs of cottage cheese, avogado!). 5 plums, 1 slice of cheese

Afternoon tea; sandwich ( PB on a half and cottage cheese and jam on the other half)

Dinner; Take-away! ( chicken kebeb with sweet chili sause. We don’t have this in Japan and now this is one of my favorite!)

Supper; oatmeal made with 1/2 banana. 1tbs PB, soymilk, coconuts….thanks everyone or this idea!! Actually I prefer weetabix but I think it got less kcal for bulkiness so changed to oatmeal. But I found oatmeal it also bulky….

 

Well. I have some questions.

1)    what’s the difference between ‘traditional’ oatmeal and other oatmeal?

2)    Can you eat oatmeal raw?

3)    How much dried oatmeal (g/oz) do you use for snacks or breakfast? I have never eaten oatmeal in Japan and I don’t know the serving size. Well it’s written on the boxes but they vary and sometimes they indicate less…..

4)    I’m short of snack idea(>_<) I prefer sweet snacks and it would be great if you could teach this Japanese girl( well I’m not “girl” anymore…) some new snack idea.

Hi, my name is Mio. I was here quite a while ago and haven’t posted here since last octorber.. I think Lala, Gibbit and Agruskin were here when I was posting. Hope you  remember me!!

Just quick introduce of myself for people who don’t know me.

I’m from japan( English is not my first language and I do my best, but if my writing is misleading or offensive some way, please correct me).

I have been suffering from ED for a long time and had treatment as a both in and out patient in Australia for 4 months until Jan, 2008. Went back to Japan and lost quite a bit of weight while I was there, and came back to Australia in May for study. I put 8kg(!) by myself with the help of my doctor and dietitian( same ones when I was in hospital), finishing Cert.4 of massage and aromatherapy course in Sep. Then I went back to Japan in Oct because of VISA problem and lost weight again. It’s like I’m poisoned by Japanese air!!! ( That is one of the reason I stopped posting here, and also I had been crazily busy)

 I came back to Australia, moving from Perth to Sydney to do the course called Diploma integrated body therapy and Aromatherapy. As my support team is in Perth, I try to put weight back on by myself at the moment. But This time, without Ensure.(Lala and Gibbit, you remember how I was depend on Ensure beore? Actually I LOVE them though…)

 I have seeing this thread these few weeks and I thought I’d post here too as I would like your comments because you guys are so supportive and so much inspiration to me.

Your meal ideas are great and very helpful because I have never gained just with FOOD and n idea what I should eat, though I have eaten much more calories but with all weight gain drinks.

 Now I eat aiming 2600-3000 kcal/day. I have been eating this for about 3 weeks but not much difference. I may over estimate the kcal or I should add more calorie but I feel I’m already eating so much and don’t know what/ how I can add. Also I live by myself and partially depend on my parents financially, so I feel guilty spending so much money on food. My share-mates are always surprised how much I store food in the kitchen and gone so quickly.

 Sorry for my long post, I will post my meals after this. Please give me any comments and I totally appreciate them.

Food today;

B;1 cup Kellog's special K, 2 toast with PB/ vegemite, banana, 2/3cup soy milk

M/T; no fat yogurt, instant captino made with regular soy milk, 1 biscuit

L:sandwich( 2 toast, ricotta cheese, lettuce, carrot, mastard), apple, 1 piece of regular cheese

A/T; FULL CEAM yogurt ( caramel flavor, sound good, doesn't it? I was attracted to the flavor, but was not good as I tought)    anzack slice

D, vege tir fry with scrumble egg (2 of WHOLE egges), 1 cup rice  ....stir fry did not look pretty but tasted very good

S; FULL CREAM yogurt (banana& honey flavor),   2 biscuits (each had cream between 2 biscuit base)

sorry i think my ed voice is talking haha. i need to hush it. i'm desperate to get better, i just wish AN would let me see weight gain as a positive thing - at the moment i try to look at it as a 'side effect' of health - yes, i will be bigger but i will also be healthier, stronger and happier. and that's my ultimate goal!

 Just quick post. I agree with what agruskin said. I can say that becasue I eperienced. I used to beinge, a lot. I couldn't stop eating and ate the amount you can't believe once I started eating as I was always  STARVING and my head was always occupied with food all the time even when studying.  But while I was in hospital, I ate regularly(about evety 2-3 hours) and always full or satisfied, I never wanted to binge or thought of food during the day. Also in hospital, becasue  I couldn't drink diet coke ( also I was badly addicted to it) as we were forbitten to buy or eat food/drinks which was not in our MENU, I could get out of diet coke addiction and now I can live without them. SO, for me, being hospital was very food opptunity to stop these bad habit.

SO, EAT, EAT, EAT REGULARLY!!!!

lalabanana; I had sausages yesterday!! I was planning to cook sausage stew as you suggested, but it was really hot yesterday and didint feel like having hot food, so I just boiled sasages and made salad as a side dish. I had rice as carb because I wanted to clear my section in the frizer before I go back to Japan( I usually cook big amount of rice and keep them in frizer, and I share the fridge with ohers in share house), but the rice didnt go well with what I made:(  Having sausages was challenging, but they are not so oily and sooo yammy and could ejoyed all! What is Quorn sausagesand whats diffnt from normal sausages?

agruskin;I am not gaing on 2500....or I may over estimate(can be around 2300- 2500) I added another snack today though it doesnt make up 3000, but will increase gradually. Im now confused. Do you mean you dont think having those weight gain drinks is good idea? It seemed clear to gave those drinks for weight gain as once i reach the GW, I just have to take them off but at the same time, when I have these drinks, it is hard to have full fat products or other higer kcal food as I already have drink as weight gain suppliment. But apperantly even with drinks, I dont gain weight, so defenitely I need higher kcal food. Ill plan from what I can start  today. Maybe add oil on salad, use more oil for stir fry...what so you think?   I really admire your effort recently as I have seen your post from your begining. Youcame so far!!   You give me courge! You can do, WE can do!!  Keep it up and get normal and healthy life!!

agruskin;I probably take arond 2500kcal per day and if I take out the weight gain drinks, around 1800-1900kcal. So Im etaing too less for maintenance if I take out all those drinks am I? And I havent gaining for a while on this kcal. Yeh, defenitely I need to eat more, but when I have these drinks, some part of me stops myself eat high kcal food....

Well done for dinner with our family and let yourself have what you wanted. I know this is challenging but is very important as if you eat what you want, you will be satisfied and  this si what NOERMAL ppl do.

gibbit; Thanks for your advice about eating in Jpan with my parents. My friend said same thing as you. I know I cant repeat same thing again ( lose weight when Im back in Japan) because I compare myself with others and eat not enough. Maybe I should make sure I eat enough kcal  so that I wont lose weight and if I do, make sure to eat 300-500kcal more?  Im glad to hear that you had fun at Capoeira. You seem doing great for socializing. I think this is also impoirtant step for recovery:) And well done for 1lb up!! I hope you feel ok about it. Of course it is good! If you r happy about the speed of gaing, keep eating 3000kcal!

xfallingstar; Im sorry to hear you hated the taste of ensure. I adore ensure, hehe. When I took them off last time, I just wished I could have had them forever and misse them ( I stopped them when I reached my goal weight) Also Becasue I was very sick and under weight when I was admitted to the hospital in Australia last year, they gave me 6!! Ensure plus in day as well as 3 meals and 3 snacks, but it wasn't enough for me to gain weight (I  had limited time becasue of VISA condition), and put me on the special drinks called "2kcal" and it was much heavier than ENsure plus. Ensure plus has 1.5kcal/ml and 2cal has 2 kcal/ml. I hated the taste first becasue it was exactly like drinking condense milk but in the end, I really loved them and everyone teased me about it. So I think depends on people, some ppl love them and some hate them. But I suggest you to try banana, fruit of the forest or choc flavor as I think they are easier to drink than vanilla. And also I recommend you to have ensure plus in tetra pack, not standers Ensure as ensure plus has more kcal than standerd ensure and when it comes in tin pack, it taste worse and even I dont like tin ensure.  If you dont like these flavor from tetra pack, try this milk shake recipe. This is from the hospital where I was in, and we could chose ensure plus or milkshake for weight gain suppliment, but as I prefered ensure I didnt order milk shales often.

Milk shake recipe;1 litre of full creamed milk, 1 1/2 cups of full creamed milk powder, 6 big scoop of icecream, flavoring syrup

I reccomend you to have 200ml of them at a time 3 times in a day with snacks( I mean as well as snacks, not instead of snacks) for start and if you dont gain  enough or you think you gian too fast for you, just add more or take 1 out.

I am sorry I dont reply to everyone, I dont think my english reading is  too bad but just take so long to read so many posts. And I will post my food later. My boss at work, she gave me sausages today ( there is very good buther a the next door) and I think I shold challenge myself as I love sausages but they have been my fear. I thinks I will cook them tommrow/

agruskin; You are doing great!! Good job for 3000!!Sorry I was not clear about what & how much ate on my last post. I will make it clear today. My height is 157cm(5.15 ft, so very short), and 42kg(92.5lb) at the moment. My Dr says  I still need to gain a fw more Kg and when I wear skirt or short pants, I can see I need to gain but sometimes especially when I look at my tammy, I dont want to gain weight anymore. I will keep trying to gain though as I dont have period yet and, even it is scary to be bigger, I know there is no benefit to be under weight for and it is unhealthy. And I want to be strong to give strong massage even on big clients!!Your pastrami, cheese, avogado melt for lunch sounds sooo good! Do you make it like sandwich?

gibbit;Im g you had good time at the bad mitzvah and well done for challenging your self by having food there!Thank u so much for your advice on my study. Yes, I will do what I want to do so that I wont regret later! I understand you can  eat lots at night but hard to do so during the day. Im the same. Now it has become kind of bad hobit, but initially probably because if I eat lots during the day I will runout of kcal that I can eat later. I know this is very stupid idea especially becasue I aim to gain weight and now it is scary to break this hobit... I  challenge myself and let myself have bigger meals or snacks during the day when I go out though.

aussiegirl;Im still in australia, flying out on 21th october and coming back on 16th Dcember.

Im worried about going back to parents house in Japan, becasue I cannot keep my pace, and we will b having same dinner to gether. And I will be having different( Japanese) food in japan from what I eat now( western style food ect) in australia, and especially dinner will be bigger and im not sure how much I should eat.So much easier doing it away for home. I lost 7kg in 4 months after coming back from treatment in Australia ( that was before I came back to australia for study and have gained back in australia by myself) even I kept eating ' normal size' of meals  as well as snacks becasue obviously it was  enough for normal +healthy people but not my body to maintain. I know I cannot let it happen again this time. I will write how it goes from japan, so if I struggle, please everyone kick my butt!!

Hi everyone. Im sorry I havent posted for a while.

My life has been hectic and I have been very stressed. I was planning to start diploma course from octorber but the college said I cannot start from octorber becasue they had changed  course structure and have to wait until January. And I found out that, because of the VISA condition, I cannot stay in Australia more 28days after the last class day and cannot come back more than 28days before the next course starts . So I have to go beack to Japan. And because I have arranged VISA based on the course date which I supposed to start, this VISA will b expired before the course which I was going to do finishes, I have to extend the VISA which involves $450. And, after that  the college says they were not sure even whether they open that diploma course from January or not, I was soo confused and angry at the college as they kept giving me wrong or ucertain information and started giving up studying there and looking for other school, and then they said, they WILL open the course from January and will cover the my VISA application fee. So, these issue have settled down but Im still skeptical about my college. Also when I was looking for other school, I was thinking maybe I should give up the massage and go back to my old degree (I studied veterinary medicine but I found it too stressful for me and Im strong enough mentally to cope with.) as I felt I was wasting vet degree by chosing massage course. Massage is physically hard work but when client like massage and feel relax ater massage, I feel happy and worth doing it, so I will continue massage course....

Anyway, sorry for complaining about my life so long but hope you guys could understand my english:)

gibbit; Im sorry you started struggling.I understand what you feel as I feel the same. I dont mind gaining weight and want to until I get the GW, but just I don't feel I need those extra food and am tired of eating so much food. Maybe plan to have some yammy  snack that you really like or want to try so that you have something to look forward to have??  And I have a question. I noticed you usually dont have carbs for lunch. How do you get enough kcal for a salad? yey, new pants!! I get excited to go pants shopping after I gained back my butt and am no longer 'bony'. It feels nice to see the pants fit you and not hanging loosely on  your leg, doesnt it?  Get new pants that show your 'new' butt!!

agruskin; Hi. sounds you had a hard time without food. I cant imagin doing without any food or drinks for 25 hours! Not only getting hungry but also I would get bored without eating food. Good luck for 3000kcal!

charliebo; Hi, seems you are doing well. I wanted to ask you. What is "mochi" thing you sometimes have for breakfast? In japan, we also have food called "mochi" which is made of sticly rice and you cook it by grilling it or boiling and eat it with soy sause or sweetend beans. it is very yammy and filling but your "mochi" is different i guess?

For those who dont know me; I am a 26year old Japanise female who is studying in Australia. I have been sick for 10 years and now on recovery. I had intensive treatment in Perth in Australia for 2.5months as a in-patient and other1.5months as out-patient. I went back to Japan after that and came back to Perth for study this time!

okgo;Im proud of you for not letting ED win and had snacks! When I become less motivated, I try to make me motivated by relizing how this affect people around me especially my parents. But challenging yourself and become healthy both physically and mentally is for you and yourlife in the end. When you struggle try and iagine what would you recall your life when you are like 80, would you life be fulfilled or would it have been occupied food and kcal??

theofournay; I thinkyour meal plan is very good.I also tend to stuff myself at night and yourplan seems well balanced. Good luck for 3000kcal! YOucan do it!! Are you going to put something on bagel for supper?

gibbt:Well done for tempra & ice cream!! We have Coldsotone creamery in Japan as well and I've been there twice. I had some mix berry one(sorry,  I forgot the name) with sweet vanilla base and I absolutely loved it!! My mom had apple& cinamon with pie crust on, and it was jsut heven!! You seem trying hard.I'm proud of you:) Keep it up.

aquaev:(your post to me was a while ago, but)  I don't count calorie as I was badly obsessed with it when I Used to count before. But I follow the basic menu plan I made with my dietitian so that I wont eat too low.

aussiegirl: As I don't know exactly how many calorie I'm eating, I don't know exactly how much I need to gain weight. I probably eat around 2500kcal including wight gain drinks. I actually counted briefly now and 1800 kcal( only food including snacks= maintenance) and ~700Kcal ( weight gain drinks). I think this is too low for weight gain and I actually MAINTEINING on this Kcal. I had better choose "wise" options...which is really scary. You said you were born in Perth, did you?? Did you actually live there? I moved to Como and Swan reiver is just infront of my house and very nice place. Do you know Como?

agruskin:As I said to aussiegirl, I probably eating same kal as yours. To answer your question, they want me to eat higher kcal food AS WELL AS weight gain drinks( Ensure, up& Go, or others)So that is really scary as I am already having wieght gain suppliment. For me it is better to add weight gain drinks to my maintenance food because once I hit the GW, I just can take off the drinks. But in this way, I realized that I can(should) eat so many Kcal for maintenance as I seem to maintein on around 2500kcal. It is good and I think I'm lucky that I can eat so much, but at the same time it IS scary as I am not sure if I can eat that much.  What is your suggestion to add kcal to my maintenace food??

I was very very stupid yesterday. As my work finished early I went quick shopping with my work friend. It was warm and my friend suggested to have some cold drink or ice cream. I freaked out as it was not in my meal plan and we ended up going to subway which was like 300m away even there are juice stands and nice ice cream shop infront of us. and I had diet coke...stupid me!!  I can have ice cream or juice if it is IN my meal plan but cannot let me have them if they are not. Is anyone feel the same?? How do you manage and not letting ED win?

Hi, how are you all?

Sorry I have been away for long time and hope anyone rember me.It has been hectic around me, many assignment , exams, problems about shool; enrollment... and also I had to leave my old loved house(I live in share house) beginning of Sep as the owner of the house had sold their house and office and were moving into OUR house, and we all had to leave the house. SHe gave us only 2weeks notice and we had no time to look for other house as we have school and work you know. I understand she had some problemand had to do this but my  sharemate and I were so angry at her as she should  have told us earlier. So I moved into stopgap hose which I don't like ( because there is not much communication and doesn't feel like "home" and also dirty), and moving into other house this Saturday. Next house looks very cosy and lady also seems nice. Actually I'm excited to live in that house:)

Now Ihave finished Certificate course and have over 3 months break( I was planning to starts it in Octorber but the college changed corse structure...I hate things does't go as planned. I know this is life...) So I'm thinking to do some work or volunteer work if possible.

Foodweise I have been OK, but haven't gained much since I posted last time. Now I have 3-4 Up&GO instead of Ensure as I move out & in often recently I dont want to add other to my others. I saw my dietitian the other day and she told me to have 'wise option'. means more kalorie dence food such as muffin, full cream dairly products. I eat good amount of food but they may not 'wise option'. I eat wise option as well such as donuts, dried fuit and nuts, but I may need to change not fat yogurt  and mik to low-fat and then to full fat one... SO scary!! I know I need to eat more kalorie as once I take out the all drinks( ENsure or Up& Go) I may lose weight evnen I m eating well. But Im sacred if I change all those products to full fat ones and more kalorie dence food, its gonna add up all kaloreis and makes too much difference.

Sorry for writing so much this is what has been happning to me recently.

this is what I ha yesterday;

Breakfast; Kellog's special K 3/4 cup, 2/3 skim milk, 1 apple, 2 toast with PB and vegemite( one each)

 

morning tea; up & go no fat yogurt

Luch; Sandwich( lettuce, carrot, cheese) 1 apple, 2 dates

afternoon tea; up&go 1 slice of fruit cake

Dinner; chicken& veges stir fry, 1 cup of rice

supper; 350ml of full cream yogurt! dried fruit and nuts

Hi, me again! sorry I just keep posting at bad timing(I mean I post  often but write little) and dont write to all people here. I just take maybe dubble time than you guys to read  and understand and write, also too busy studying and going to school so I just can answer to pepole who wrote to me at the moment. I will write to others when I find the time!!

agruskin; I hardly exercise compared with some people here. I go to school from Tue- Fri  and have no time to do exercise except only 10 min danbel in the morning when I have school. When I dont have school and have enough time, I go for a walk around 1hr andgo grocery shopping.( I wanted to start running but I dont have enough muscle and get out of breath soon ,so stopped. Im lazy!!) I dont do any big exercise, but try not to be in the house all day. In japanese ,  if someone is staying in the house all day every day, we say ' Don't be so lazy being in the house all the time, you will have 'root' grows from you in the house! hehe.

I think having full fat products is what you need especially because you are on weight gain.Once you reach the maintenance, you can switch back to low fat product( Youll still need lots of energy even after you get goal weight, so avoid no fat things. And we all need certain amount of fat to be HEALTY!) My dietitian says I can have low fat product once I reach the goal weight but I should be flexible、for example; when you go to cafe and if there is no 'no fat' milk available, still you can have full fat milk instead. I think thats normal ppl do.  Choc bar I have is called 'Freddo' from Cadburry's.It's Frogs shape and half of it is white choc and the other half is milk choc, So yammy!! And pikelet is just a pancake. Im sure aussiegirl should know too! ( does anyone know if we call ' pikelet'only  in Australia??)

Agruskin; I know how you feel as i feel the same about the intakes of youger ppl. I try to think THIS is my problem and I have to do what my body needs. Try not think you have to eat the same or less than younger ppl and play around the food you take, I mean eat the amount/ kcal that you think you need and if that doesnt make difference, try increase more adding like 1 cup of full ceam milk or nuts, choc, or something easy to have but high in kacl gradually. I strongly reccomend Ensure if you like the taste. ( I loove Ensure and thats the problem becasue i dont want to stop them!! hehe)

I eat around 3500 Kcal/day I think as i dont count. And 1200kcal is from all 4 Ensure. I eat snacks AS WELL AS Ensure. Ususally I gain arond 300-500g but from last week i hardly gained any. So that means I need more!! How I can increase more?! I think this is the time to change low fat product to full fat product. Scary~!!

charliebo;I know how hard and scary it is to increase the intake. Maybe try start adding small thing like chock bar,biscuits,icecream.....  As my progress has not been very good even with 4Ensure as well as snacks and meals, I added few choc bars and PB on my previous meals.  Keep it up!!

m/tea; Ensure plus, low fat yogurt, choc bar

dinner,;chicken salad( 100g chicken with honey mastard, avogado *this was my fear foor*, celery, paprika, lettuce, mashrooms cotage cheese), and pita bread

supper; 2 Ensure plus,2 pikelets with PB

cahrliebo;Im sorry i mistook about PEI. From yor post 1615( sorry i dont seem to keep up with all post!) Im sorry you dont feel good. Try camomile tea or hot milk before you go to  bed and read some book in the bed( this works for me, especially textbook!). And if you're interested in aromatherapy, get True lavender essential oil and put a few drops on tissue and put it  in the pillow or use vaporizer. True lavender works on parasympathetis nervous system and helps you relax. Your meals looks good but how about adding more kcal for morning sanck. like full cream yoghurt or museli bar, or PB sandiwich?

arguskin;Im glad i have someone who is similar age as most of people here seems so young! yeh, like I postes before our hunger or apptite is not normal and it will take time to get them back. Until then you have to eat what or how much you should eat to get healthy body and appetite. I make 1 week meal plan as I used to stressed and during lecture all I was thinking was what I should eat that evening. Making pre-meal plan is very helpful as i dont have think about the food all the time and also dont have to go grosery shopping so often as i also make the list of what I get for 1 week melas. Ill keep doing this until i feel i get healthy apptite back and ok to eat "normally". So be patient!!

Hi. How are you all?

yesteday I was exausted as I massaged on clients constantly even though I had only 4( I'm studying massage at the moment and working at massage clinic(( kinf of spa)) on Sunday.) First I had 1 hr,then  had 30min break,  after that 1hr, 2hr and 1 hr with no break!! My low back and wrists were so sore by the time I left clinic... I have to keep eating more as it requires so much energy.

agruskin; I think you mentioned this a while a go, but I have been to PEI when I was 12. It was just pretty and so beautifull! You have to visit there some day. Especially it was first time from me to visit foreign country and PEI was totally different from Japan and I was so disappointed when I came back to Japan because after spending time in PEI, Japan lookes dirty, busy and too small.( i dont want you to misunderstans, Japan has beautiful palaces too!) . I love ' Ann of green gables' too( and my sister & my father)

Alysha; Thank you for the welcome! Sorry I dont understand the meaning ' stats'. Does it mean like my  hight and weight etc? if so;        age; 25( 26 in September...)   hight;157cm   weight; 41kg      goal weight; high 43kg   dairly intake kcal; not sure as I don't count. Maybe around +3500kcal? My psychiatrist want me to weight 45-46kg but i dont want to be that high. I am OK to GAIN weight until I get goal weight. And I discussed with my dietitian that I would see how I feel once I get high 43( around 43.8) and if I feel Ok, I may keep trying to gain some more. Also I asked her if I could start to eat when/what  i WANT( as I was tired of pondering when& what I eat and wanted to  be more spontaneous.) And she told me that I shold stick to plan longer because my hunger or apptite in not NORMAL yet and it will take at least 12month(!) to get them back!  SO it means that even we get to he goal weight, we should be careful what/ when we eat.

Here is my meals today;

B; 2 toast with PB, 1 banana, orange&pineapple juice

m/t;Ensure plus, low fat yoghurt, mini choc bar

lunch: sandwich( 2 WM toast, lettuse, carrot, cottage cheese), 1 pear, 1 choc bar

a/t; Ensure plus, homemaid carrot muffin

dinner; chicke& vege(celery,paprika, onion, mashrooms) stir fry in coconut gravy sauce, 1 cup rice

s;2 Ensure plus, multi grain bar

 Hi,I'm japanese so I think I can answer to your question:)" Typical "Japanese set meal can be, for example...about 160-200g grilled/ fried/ boiled with sauce fish, vege dishes, about 160-250g depends on bowl size, about 200g miso- soup ( with to-fu/ veges/ seaweeds and I like lots of vege in it!) and japanese pickles ( sooo salty, but i love this)  This is typical example but depends person to person. I think Japanese food is very healthy as we eat lots of rice and fish and veges( I eat much less rice though. I prefer eat less rice and more other dishes like veges), but I think someone was talking that Japanese food is too salty. Yes, I agree.That is one of main reason that lots of people are suffering from high blood pressure in Japan.

 Thanks for the welcome! My hight is 157cm( sorry again, I'm not familiar with ft). I don't count kcal not though I used to before, but I became obsessed with it and got so stressed out, and have stopped counting since I was admitted to the hopital in Australia( that was good chance to stop). But I assume my kcal intake is aroud 2000kcal, and each Ensure has 300kcal ×4,so tatal will be around 3000-3500kcal, I guess. I don't get stressed with gaining weight very much  until I get my goal weight and like eating cause I hate my skinny body, but recently I fed up with eating so much food especially I get stressed with other thigs like study or my social problem and self esteem, I become like ' why I have to eat so much food' or ' what is the point? I'm doing so hard but gained hardly'. 

But.....I WILL overcome ED soon! I'l keep fighting with it! We should have and deserve to have happy life withough ED like other normal people do!!

By the way which part of Australia are you from? I'm in Perth and I love this place!!

Hi. I'm kind of new here though I have been seeing this site for quite a while, but didn't have time and courage to post. English is not my first language and I'm sorry if my writing is misleading or sounds offensive.

I have had ED for about 10years and now I'm working on recovery. I had gained healthy weight while I was taking treatment in Australia but I lost quite a bit of weight after I went back to Japan.( Obviously I'm from Japan!) I'm currently studying in Australia  and have gained around 7.5kg (Sorry I am not familiar with lb)since this May with  my Dr and dietician's help. now I'm around 41kg and want to gain another 2-3kg. You can see about my story in my profile if you like.

My weight gain menu is a little bit different from you guys as my food intake is not for weight GAIN but for MAINTENANCE. Instead I use Ensure( 4 per day) as a weight gain suppliment because my dietician doesn't want me to think that FOOD is the one that make me GAIN weight and want me to have FOOD for MAINTENANCE so that I just have to take off these Ensure once I got my goal weight.

I found this thread is very helpful as we can understand our feeling each other and encourage each other. But at the same time I got confused if I'm eating too much when I look some of dairly menu here.

Here is yesterday's menu;
