I just find it terribly sad, that they can be so proud of destroying their lives and health.

The thing that ticks me off is that they aren't trying to do it for health, they're doing it to "look hot" and "get guys". Well let me tell you, guys do NOT like bones.

No guys SO like T & A...  both of which u loose if you loose too much weight.   lol

Weight Loss 1600 CALORIES?? Would This be HEALTHY?? Feb 05 2009
14:10 (UTC)

Oh please don't do that to yourself.  Yes you could loose weight but your also going to stunt your growth!  You don't really want to stay 5 6  forever do you?

So I also ran your bmi & calorie intake needs off that website.  The mainanance calories to "maintain" a healthy BMI for someone your age & height is 2230 if you are inactive.  However you need to take in less than that to get there obvioulsy. I think you should shoot for 2000 just until you get there. If you lift some weights to puff up those arms & sholders you'll be very happy with the results.    Just like a big chested female it will make your waste "apprear" smaller.  Get out to run or bike a couple times a week too.  Maybe  another guy who wants to lift some weights?

When you reach your goal weight I'm guessing 131 then you will want to remeasure yourself to be sure your height hasn't changed & reevaluate your calorie needs.  The more active you become the higher your needs will be & the better you will look!

Your metabolism is SO much better than the adults on this site.  It's really not fair to compare yourself calorie wise to our decrepid metabolisms.   lol

Weight Loss First Post- Setting Goal Weight? Feb 03 2009

Original Post by vandalgirl59:

Hi all, I'm new. Question. How did you determine your goal weight? I started on Weight Watchers and my own workout program on Oct 1. I started at 157 and am now 136.3. I originally thought 125 was a great goal. But now at 136 I don't look much different. (I'm 19 and 5'7" VERY small framed-my fingers overlap my wrist by a LOT).

Now I'm thinking 120 will be a better weight but that is getting close to a too low BMI, however I think anything above 120 will still leave me chunky.

Tips? Opinions? Suggestions?

I'm not going for stick thin, but tight instead of jiggly would be nice lol

Thanks in advance!!!

Firstly OMGoodness Good for YOU!!!

2ndly you will look thinner at 125 than you can imagine!  I have a very petite frame & am 5 1.  I look VERY good & quite thin at 122.  You're a good deal taller than me so you may, depending on your muscle %age with more being toner, "look like you live on air".  Trust me there's a world of difference between the 120's & the 130's when you have small bones!  lol

Oh I can't wait to get there!!

redplatforms- No, binging and purging are two different things. Binging is the extreme overeating part. Purging is vomiting and/or using large amounts of laxatives. Binging is generally not associated with purging, although some people do binge and purge (ie: bulimia nervosa).

Is taking large amounts of laxitives considered a dissorder then?

I have what may be a stupid question to some of you.  When people are talking about "binging" are they always purging afterwards or is it a different thing all together?

I have a tendency to WAY overeat, like 2000 plus calories in an hour, if I go to a resturant but there's no purge afterwards.  A take in a painful amount of food really.  Is this the same thing as what all these posts are talking about?

My chicken breasts are 110, and my apples are about 70, so I don't know what they're speaking of Foot in mouth

But if you're breastfeeding, CC's reccommendation isn't correct. If you're eating that little, you're doing harm to you and your baby (assuming you're breastfeeding).

My son weaned about 2 weeks ago.  I would have breastfed him for a year but he was fighting me every feeding & biting so I let it slide & figured 7 months was the right amount of time for him.  He's been eating solids with GUSTO for 2 months now anyway!  lol

I think my chicken is a tad more but I usually smother it in olive oil & crushed garlic.  Maybe I should just boild them plain until the baby weights off... hmmm

What are your stats, if I can ask? Height, weight, age, activity level? 1300 seems very little, as is 200 calories for a dinner.

Do remember a healthy rate of loss can be half a pound a week, and if you're quite short and small sometimes it's better to go slower in general than to aim for a 500 cal defecit.

My stats?  I'm 5 1, small frame & when I say that my middle finger overlapps my thumb around my wrist half way to the 1st knuckle. I'm 28 years young with an office job that takes 45 to 55 hours a week.  I play actively with my baby son every evening using him as resistance for presses & bridges.  (He's 7 months about 29 inches long & 22 pounds.)  I weigh 142 this morning.  Oh & I have an underactive thyroid for which I'm on medication.

Apparently I'm not managing any decifit because I'll loose 4 pounds then gain it back all in a spurge day... 3 weeks to loose it then gain it back in a day again.  my goal is to get back into my healthy BMI & reach my prepregnancy weight of 125.  My healthy weight zone is anything in between 105 to 130 - as confirmed by the personal trainer at the gym.  Though cc says I could go lower than 105 for my build.

I've never counted olive oil.  The cultures that eat allot of it are not generally overweight.  Unlike like the cultures who use butter or margarine.  I've always had problems with boyfriends who weren't use to eating alot of olive oil getting ummm stomach problems when introduced to my diet.  I cook everything in it from eggs, to veggis, I add it to pasta sause, as well as chicken & steak etc etc.  Really it has a laxative like effect so I don't figure I'm absorbing enough to be bothering counting it.

I'm not so good with going through the emotions behind eating or not eating.  My mothers Ana so I think I'm scewed in my views anyway but I do have some fall back recipies for when I'm starving but my calories are used up for the day.

Eat more stirfry - start with oil & garlic in a pan over medium heat.  Add the entire bag of frozen vegis.  Cook & if you want add an oz of shreeded low fat cheeze.

Drink more coolaid - sometimes you just want something sweet & 32 oz of coolaid is the best darn thing that can happen to you!  lol

When in doubt have a protein shake.  Fills you up.  Very portable.

The OB can give you a hormone shot that will force it.  I had it done about 9 months after my car accident when I still hadn't had one.  An odd side effect to be sure but obviously my body realized it was in too bad of shape to have a healthy pregnancy.  I'm not sure they would give it to you though in this type of situation...  Have you tried natural hormone supliments?  They have them over by the prenatal vitamins.  Claim to treat medipause but it comes to the same thing.  Your cycles on pause.

With all that activity it's more than likely you put on some good healthy muscle which doesn't really count as "gaining weight" since you've increased your ability to metabolise calories.

Hi Theresa,

I too am in Cd's... Also I've been in mutal funds since 94...  which aren't doing so great right now but better than the market at least....   I'm no where near retiring so I guess I think I should be risking more than I am.  I also advised many of my "older" relatives to sell a few years ago.  Only one of them listened.  I said "Take the money & run!  It's not really making a profit unless you cash it out."  Only Uncle George listened though.  lol

Does you company have a gym?  It's my saving grace on both the occationally slow & (mostly) Uber stressful days.

I was going to suggest going back & takign some classes but it appears you have thought of that already... Looks like it doesn't hold too much appear for you.  Perhaps you could follow the stock market then?  Make a killing by buying undervalued stock & wait for it to go up?

Oh & don't forget share with me.  I'm too swamped but I would LOVE to have just a few mins each day to follow the market & research a company.  :)

I weighed 98-105ish in high school / college & I'm 5foot1.  Never in my life would my hip bones, & you could sort of see them back then, go into a size 3 let alone zero.  It's just not physically possible for me.  However I had a friend at Church who was 5foot5 & from 3 generations of size Zeros.  Healthy happy ( hateful ) & naturally blonde size Zero's.  Ironically after years of veiled jealousy it dawned on my that my hubby is WAY cuter than hers.  lol
