How I wish I would have seen this sooner!  I now have a "stress fracture" in my left foot and am wearing an aircast for the next 4 weeks (already have had it on for 2 weeks).  I am supposed to be wearing it 24/7.  It's very cumbersome to walk in and I was issued a temporary disabled placard by the DMV.  Hobbling around.... The stress fracture was apparently caused by repeated overuse.  I started walking for exercise and after many months and a 77 pound weight loss, I started incorporating some jogging into my walks.  I guess that is how it happened.  I think I've had it for 1-2 months and tried to "work through" the pain, thought it would get better.  Finally realized it wasn't going to get any better and went to the doctor to find out it is fractured.  Now I can't do my daily power walks til it heals, probably another month from now.  I have been told I can do other types of exercise, and I belong to a gym so I don't have any excuses, but power walking is my "thing" and I'm missing it terribly! When I do finally heal, I am not going to jog anymore, I think it's too hard on my old (54) body and 200 pounds.  I want to lose another 50 and I am determined, but not being able to really walk is a real set back.  I always felt good about myself when I completed my daily walk.  Now I've gained 5 pounds and feel like a total slug.  I never did any warming up or stretching, just got out there and "went".  Now I see the error of my ways.

Take care of yourselves.... having an injury is a real set-back.  Best to be careful from the get-go.  Take it from one who made this sad mistake.

I have not tried pb2 but I have tried Better n' Peanut Butter and I like it.  To me it tastes like reg. pb with a little honey in it.  I don't think it has honey in it, but that's what it tastes like to me.  I buy it at Trader Joe's one jar at a time....

Weight Loss Pants size and weight Nov 15 2008

I agree with the others who said everyone is different.  Different body sizes and shapes will take different sizes, depending on the distribution of weight on that particular body.  I am 5' 4" and I weigh 198.  I am getting into some size 16 (US) pants now, and still need an 18 in others, depending on the brand/fit.  I am short in the trunk and I have short arms and legs too.  I tend to carry most of my weight in the middle (apple).  In my opinion, there are just too many variations in bodies to say a certain weight will wear a certain size.  As for goals, mine is neither a size or a number.  My goal is to get healthy, get in shape, and be able to physically chase my grandson around the park when he is old enough to run and play!  Thus the screen name.........  good luck to all!  Kiss

I have been using a product for years called Dr. George's Dental White.

I have received so many compliments on my white teeth and I have recommended this product to many people.  However, you can't buy it in the stores any longer, you have to buy it on-line.  Just Google it and you should find it.  Just buy the refill gel, it's 9.95, lasts forever.  You don't need the kit with the trays.  You can put it on with a q-tip, or your tooth brush.

Chobani FF is great and also Trader Joe's Pomegranate Greek FF Yogurt is 170 cals and 14g protein, that's another good one.  Oh and StonyField Farms, it's not Greek style, but it's FF and the Chocolate flavor is really yummy, like having dessert.

I would go to the doctor asap.  Could be a kidney infection or something else that requires medication and I have found, at least with kidney infections, the sooner you get on the medication, the better.  You don't want to fool around with a kidney infection!  Better to get it checked than take a chance.  Good luck.

Here's one good reason NOT to go back to your old ways:  I am 54 and have been a yo-yo dieter all my life.  Every time you gain weight back, you get more fat on your body, not just the pounds.  So now, at 200 pounds, my body has a lot more fat on it than the last time it did when I weighed 200 pounds.  I went up to 277 and am now down to 200 but the percentage of fat is much greater and it's very unattractive and hanging all over.  You don't want this to happen to you!  Don't let it!  Good luck to you and THINK SLIM!

I have lost 75 pounds this past year and have been stuck at the same number now for TWO MONTHS.  I go down to 201.5, up to 203, down to 202, up to 204, etc, etc - bouncing back between 204 and 201 for two months now.  I have tried so many different things; calore cycling, doubling my exercise, etc.  I'm dying to see the darn scale go below 200........ so I definately can relate..... I just keep going but it gets so discouraging...........

The Lounge worst insult you ever got because of your weight.... Oct 02 2008

Well, I have too many of those stories to count, being heavy all my life.  One of the most humiliating was in Jr. High when one of the most popular boys came up to me, called me "jelly belly" and punched me in the stomach..... I've never forgotten the humiliation......

My co-worker is very, very heavy.  Recently, our company had an ice cream vendor come out with his ice cream truck and everyone got to go outside and get their favorite ice cream.  I chose to decline the offer.  That afternoon, when my heavy co-worker went out to get in her car to go home, someone had placed several ice cream wrappers on her windshield, underneather the wipers.  She told me about it the next morning and how it borthered her all night, who would do that kind of thing and what did they mean by it?  I think it was absolutely the worst, but I was secretly SO GLAD it was not my car.... I would have died......... people are so cruel and mean...... all I can say is Karma, Baby, Karma.........

I love ZipFizz.  I buy a big box at Costco, assorted flavors.  The citrus is my favorite flavor.  I do not like carbonated energy drinks like Monster or Red Bull, etc.  I have a desk job that can get slow at times and sometimes I start feeling tired.  ZipFizz always energizes me!  I know it's probably the caffeine, but it works good for me!

You are doing a wonderful thing.  As much as I don't care for sis and her attitude towards you, I am going to offer my suggestion.  It may seem like the last thing one would want to do in this situation, but I can see you are the kind of person who takes the high road.  You said you wanted to be on good terms with the sister.  My suggestion is to call her up and ask her out to lunch.  She sounds to me like she is afraid you might want something which you don't.  This is because she does not know you so she is suspicious of you.  It's understandable.  If she did know you and your honorable intentions to give her brother his dying wish,  maybe she would change her tune.  Thus, I would find a way (lunch?) to give her the opportunity to get to know you and maybe then she will see what a great friend you are to her brother and when you have to work together on the funeral, it won't be so bad.  And hopefully, once she gets to know you, she won't object to that car ride or the train ride.  Good luck!  Keep looking up, ask her to lunch, and then put it in God's hands.

You can do this!  The suggestions above are GREAT!  Eat the carnitas you love, just eat in moderation!  Like maybe one cup instead of 4 cups!  Lots of lettuce!  Black beans instead of refried beans.  Lots of salsa!  No sour cream.  A little bit of avacado.  Modify this meal so that you are still happy with yourself afterward and HAVE FUN!  Good luck!  Laughing

I wondered about this as well because I am a walker.  I tried doing some on-line research and what I read was not to use them, because they can throw your balance off.  I bought a pair anyway and tried them, I found that they slowed me down so I stopped using them.  I figured any small thing I could gain from carrying them wouldn't make up for the speed I lost.  I have also read, like the above poster suggested, that carrying the weight in a backpack is better.

Foods Beware of 100-Calorie Packs, especially if you diet! Sep 16 2008

Here's what I do with snack packs:  Some might call it anal, but it works for me.  I open up a pack and divide it as if there were two people sharing it.  "One for you and one for me", so I'm not guessing at what half a bag is.  I get exactly half.  I eat my half.  If half fills me up or fills that "I want something now void", then I stop at half the pack.  I either throw away the other half or save it for later.  If half a pack doesn't do anything for me, I can eat the whole thing knowing it's only 100 cals.  But  I find more and more, I usually stop at half a pack.  You still get your "little fix", but you've only blown 50 cals.  Works for me, may or may not work for you.  If I have a bigger, "unrestrained" bag or package of something, I tend to eat more of that thing than I should.  Snack packs work for me.  I don't worry about wasting food anymore.  Because as someone here pointed out in another thread; it gets wasted one way or the other.  Either you toss it out or you eat it and the final product is waste.

I'm 54 years old.  I've been heavy (ok, FAT, no denial here) all of my life.  Up and down, always dieting on and off.  Always the fattest kid in my class.  What's the difference this time?  My Grandson, 8 months old.  I want to be able to chase him around the park, get down on the floor and play games with him.  At 277 pounds, that was not going to happen.  I've decided to change my life (no more dieting!) just eat better food and eat less and move more.  I have lost 75 pounds in the past 11 months and have about 75 more to go.  That's why my screen name is chasingjames.  That's my goal!  I figure by the time he is 2 years old, I'll be able to do it.  I'm already starting to jog a little bit during my daily walks.  I appreciate everyone here so much!

I posted this on another thread today, but I love Chobani brand FAT FREE greek yogurt.  It has about 120 cals per container and I think 16g protein.  It comes in Strawberry, Blueberry, peach, and vanilla.  So great.  I have one almost every day for breakfast and it keeps me full all morning.  Zero fat.

I've discovered a greek yogurt I think is far superior to the rest.  Chobani fat free.  It's awesome.  120 cals per serving and 16 g of protein.  Great flavors, strawberry, blueberry, peach, and vanilla.  Super good.  I have only found it at one local store though and that's kind of a Whole Foods Market type of local store.  Maybe you can google it and find out where they sell it near you.  I love this stuff.  I usually eat it every day for breakfast.  The calories are a little higher than Dannon Fit and Light or Weight Watchers, but the protein content is more than double.  It keeps me full all morning.  And 120 cals for a breakfast is nothing.....  here is the website:

I'm a 1000 island lover.  The worst.  Anyway, I've always hated fat-free and low-cal dressings, they tasted terrible to me.  But I tried the Kraft Fat-Free 1000 island and I like it.  It's 40 cals per 2 tbsp.  That's my favorite now!  Kiss
