Weight Loss calories burned working? Jul 12 2009

I waitressed for a while, that doesn't surprise me.  7 hours on your feet is a long time, it could be over 1000 cal.  But I know I ate way more than I burned of fatty restaurant food.  Don't let all the walking justify the "few bites" of whatever, that'll kill any benefit you're getting.

Weight Loss How can I lose weight? Jul 04 2009

I suggest you start playing a sport or find some exercise/ activity you like.  I agree with the people above, don't try to lose weight, but if you are not happy with the way you look, try becoming more active.

It has been shown over and over again that playing sports helps girls self esteem.  If you are a healthy weight and not feeling great about how you look, sports could be a great way to feel like your getting exercise and making friends, getting confidence, etc.

I played volleyball, track, basketball, in high school, and lacrosse in college.  If you aren't athletic, you could try an aerobics class, a dance class, or yoga.

Don't make it about losing weight, make it about being active.

Weight Loss Weird Question about "ideal" or "natural" body weight Jul 04 2009

Do you exercise a lot? Like an unusually high amount?  Last summer I was going to the gym for like 2 hours a night and doing a ton of cardio, and I felt the same way. (like I could just listen to my body and eat what it wanted and i was still slimming up). Once I had more going on and couldnt work out as much, I tried to keep doing the same (just eating when I was hungry) and I immediatly started gaining weight.

Otherwise, maybe you are just the luckiest person ever? :)

Right, I know about the calculators, I just wanted to know how the monitors on cardio equipment work.

Weight Loss Any tips on getting rid of cellulite? Jul 01 2009
04:22 (UTC)

thanks for the tips,  i think i'll give the dry brushing a try, it certainly can't hurt anything.

i already eat healthy, exercise and drink plenty of water.  massages and high tech dermatologist procedures are out of my budget, and i am a redhead, so as much as I would like a tan to hide those little imperfections, its not in the cards :)

even a straight toaster works.  I have only done them from the fridge, but it has always worked well.

I just have to say, (I know I sound like a Mom, but I am not actually old) why are you stressing about your waist size? You are a growing 14 year old boy.  Join a sports team or find some exercise activity you like, avoid fast food, and let nature take care of the rest for a while.

Weight Loss How long does it take to gain a pound Jun 27 2009

weight watchers told me 1 lb =3500 calories.  So an excess 3500 calories of what you burn would be 1 lb of fat.

200 calories more than you burn, times one week =1400 cal, which would be .4 of a pound. Pretty much the same thing Chrissy said.

just a thought, if you haven't drank since before Christmas, your tolerance should be way down.  You should make sure and think about that.

Also, I'm sure you have considered this, but be really careful about not eating earlier in the day to compensate for the extra calories.

Alcohol + empty stomach x 1 infuriating ex = probable disaster :)

Weight Loss is Diet Soda bad for you? Jun 22 2009

Health issues aside, i find all carbonated drinks make me bloated.

My guess is that part of the reason diet soda makes you feel full is that caffeine is an appetite suppressant.  I really like drinking green tea (which supposedly has a lot of heath benefits) or cold brew iced tea throughout the day. Both have some caffeine, and you can keep you stomach full of liquid.  You would probably get a similar fullness effects to soda with out risking that diet soda is giving you cancer or secretly making you crave sweets.
