Thanks guys. It's good to know that I'm not the only one, swimfan! haha. I'll definitely keep an eye on my fiber intake over the next few days and see if altering that can make a difference! |

This might not be helpful at all, but I've found that my appetite is extremely hormone-sensitive. At certain times in my cycle I have no appetite at all, and at others I just can't eat enough. |

Yesss! I love those! When I'm at school I can get the Oats and Chocolate kind on my campus meal plan (meaning I eat at least one every day). I haven't tried any of the other flavors, but I'll definitely put those on my grocery list for next week! |

I usually get a tall Americano with sugar-free syrup (10 cals), and then I add my own skim milk and Splenda (maybe 20-30 cals?). I don't get iced drinks because I slurp them up in no time flat! It's a terrible habit. I'm sure that it would still be delicious on ice, though. |

| Fitness | Good running shorts? | Jun 03 2009 04:00 (UTC) |

Ooh, those tri shorts look nice. For a poor college student like me, though, $6 bike shorts from Target work just fine! haha. The running skorts are an interesting idea. When I first read your post, wesmckean, I thought that anyone running in a skirt would look like a complete tool...but they actually seem pretty neat! :) |

I have the same exact problem. Riding up shorts can totally ruin a good run. I just bought a pair of bike shorts from Target, and I've never been more comfortable during my workouts. During the winter months, I usually wear black leggings, but these shorts are great for the hot summer. |

Ahhhh, yes, I've become SO obsessed with raspberries in the past week! So good in cereal, in yogurt, or plain. Why would anyone ever munch on junk food like chips when they can have something as wonderful as raspberries?! The only thing I don't like is when I get the seeds stuck in my teeth...but it's a small price to pay. |

Thanks you guys! I guess I just need to be patient. It's easy to ignore the weight as it creeps up on you, but once I realized that I had gained, I just wanted the fat to disappear ASAP! lol. On the bright side, I just got through that time of the month, during which my body image took a serious hit...so it's probably not as bad as I was afraid it was! :) |

| Young Calorie Counters | Trying to lose the freshmen exess, detailed plan, feedback? | May 31 2009 00:12 (UTC) |

Hi makacos! I'm 5'1 and my healthy weight is around 115 lbs...but gained about 20 lbs during the fall of my freshman year! It was horrifying! By the spring, I had acknowledged the awful eating habits that were causing me to gain so much weight (like multiple packs of nutter butters a day...) and I started to get on a pretty regular exercise plan. By the start of my sophomore year, I was back to my normal size (though I must admit that I've had some fluxuations since then...and I'm trying to get back on track now). It's definitely not easy to maintain a healthy lifestyle in college, but walking to class is a great idea! And yoga will be great! I'm actually thinking about buying some yoga videos to get back into it. I've found that the best thing for me is to just keep a really steady routine with predictable meals (I have oatmeal for breakfast everyday) so that I have something planned instead of a spontaneous bad decision...but everyone's different. It looks like you're on a great track for weight loss, though, so good luck! :) |

Original Post by jayjay11: This isn't outrageous, per se, but I have recently become obsessed with this: 1/2 cup of quaker oats cooked in the microwave with 1 egg white. Mix it up, add 1/4 cup Fiber One cereal, some cinnamon, some sugar/Splenda, 1/4 cup almond breeze, and some cocoa powder. Under 250 calories and SO DELISH! :) |

Agh, yeah, I have such a love/hate relationship with Splenda. I use it in my coffee and oatmeal every morning...I would love to give it up because something just tells me that I could really treat my body better without it. In fact, I think I'm going to try to cut it out of my diet starting tomorrow morning! How did that go for you, marjoriemae? |

| Weight Loss | any one in the same boat? 5'2 116lbs trying to get to 103-105lbs | May 26 2009 16:57 (UTC) |

I'm 5'1 and my weight usually fluxuates around 117 and 119 when I'm not really working on losing. I feel my best when I'm around 115. I naturally carry a lot of weight in my lower half (hellooooo butt), so I don't plan on trying to get any lower than that (plus, I like having a bit of a booty...hehe!). I've just recently started to try to get back down to 115ish. My plan is to eat around 1350 cals/day and do 30 min of running/jogging/walking + some strength training 5 days/wk. I haven't been on the scale in about a week (plus it's that time of the month, which means I'm not really trusting my body image right now), so I'm not sure if I've made any progress over the past 2-3 weeks that I've been doing this. Good luck to all you other short girls out there :)! |

| Foods | How do I stop eating so much BREAD? | May 22 2009 21:47 (UTC) |

I'm an absolute carb fiend, so I can sympathize with your plight here...I doubt that I'd be able to resist so much delicious and available bread!! I've found, though, that when I'm exercising regularly, I crave carbs a lot less often. As for the late dinners...that sounds awful! Is there any way that you can pair some protein with that bread for a 6:00 snack? |

| Weight Loss | Addicted to Cereal! | May 20 2009 05:54 (UTC) |

I, too, am a cereal addict!!! I think it's because I'm such a carb lover. Once I start eating cold cereal, though, I really can't stop...there's always a little bit of milk left, so I pour a little more cereal...then I need some more milk for the extra cereal...haha! I have trouble controlling myself. I've found that oatmeal works best to quell my carb cravings. It takes more effort to make another bowl, and it's nice and filling, too. Add some cinnamon and pecans, and maybe it can rival your Special K...! |

Oh, hey, thanks for the calorie update! I guess I've been doing this wrong...I usually give about 100 for an egg, and it looks like I've been overestimating my deli meat, too...hm! I actually ended up eating it with some cottage cheese and blueberries, too, so I think it makes a pretty balanced meal overall. I'm a huge fan of salty/sweet combos. I bet it would be even more delicious with bacon! :) |

| Weight Loss | Stop snacking during exams | May 20 2009 04:45 (UTC) |

Agh, I feel your pain, fizz_89! I finished my exams about 2.5 weeks ago, and I was in such a rut of horrible eating during that time. When I was being good, I relied on gum (LOVE sugar-free Orbit and Stride!), water, coffee with skim milk, a cup of regular Cheerios, SmartPop Kettle Corn (100 calorie packs!) or an apple (the crunchiness helps me to stay up late at night!). During my horrible snacking times I fell prey to Full Throttle energy drinks (at least there are only 10 cals per can in the sugar free kind...?) and caramel corn. The best advice that I can give you, though, is that it'll all be over soon!!! Best of luck!! |
