Neither an online BMI/RMR/BMR (whatever) calculator nor an eliptical trainer can accurately measure any of the stuff they tell you. It's all estimates. Your metabolism is most likely slower than your friends. Either way... You might need to just step it up a notch. You are on the right track if you are losing, even if it's slow (even 0,5 lb per week is not bad at all... 26 per year?) If you have been doing this routine for some time I would suggesting mixing it up a bit. Swap out running for the eliptical trainer a couple of times per week. If you can, try to sprint once per week too. Being stuck in the same program for too long will make it less effective. http://www.shapefit.com/sprinting.html In any case, if you want better help, post more info. Weight, height, how long you've been training, how much you've lost so far, etc. |

why would you be embarrassed about sweating? I don't get it.. I'm 24 yo male and I got to my university's gym and see nothing wrong with guys or girls sweating... It's more like a sign of a good workout... I can see it being somewhat uncomfortable when out shopping or something, but I still wouldn't care one bit if the weather was hot... I would just see it as a natural thing. |

Eh... lose 3 pounds and be healty? You are implying that you are not healthy at your current weight? According to a BMI calculator that I googled, you are borderline underweight. That aside, noone is going to notice the difference of 3 lbs... Whether it's gaining or losing 3 lbs.. 3lb s is nothing. Hell my weight can vary more than 6 lbs week from week without me ever seeing a difference. |

@people having trouble waking up in the morning I used to have the same problem... Really bad... I would snooze for an hour or two.. without even really knowing I was doing it, just my subconcious.. Even if I had the alarm at the other side of the room, and even if I had 2 alarms. However, taking a book from all of these new alarm clocks that wake up up gradually, I decided to try the same (without buying an alarm). SoI set up an alarm in my computer that works like this: 30 min before I actually want/need to get up, I schedule a task that powers the computer on (btw computer is a laptop that doesn't make much/any noise so I don't notice it powering up). The task starts a music playlist that is played in a certain order... at first there are REALLY easy going "songs" like some relaxation songs for yoga and ****, and it gradually builds up tempo, ending with some techno. Same with volume, I've set it so that at first the volume is next to nothing, but it gradually builds up for 30 minutes when it's at max. btw i'm a comp sci student so this might be a bit complicated but still wanted to share :) Anyway, the result is that I actually wake up after a couple of songs, but the alarm doesn't annoy me at all so I don't feel like getting up.. so I just stay in bed for a couple of minutes... and i'm actually pretty concious because i'm not being woken up from REM sleep so after a couple of minutes I usually just grab my laptop (I store it under my bed) and just start up my daily browsing rutine. So what does that mean? I guess.. that "gradual" alarm clocks might work... :) |

Wow... hard to believe it's you in both pics.. really amazing
I'm guessing it's only because your back hurts that you can't do pull ups, with mucle like that and weighing only 170 lbs you should do it easily. I'm 170 lbs too and have nowhere near your muscles and I can do them pretty easily (not many in a row though).. I only benchpress about 60-70 lbs... If your back actually hurts doing it I would recommend just not doing them and instead use gym equipment to exercise the same muscles... knowing you can do them is plenty enough! Don't hurt yourself :)
