Normally i'd agree that VP debates aren't that important, however when one of the presidential candidates is 72 years old and has had  cancer several times in his life, the VP suddenly becomes pretty important.

It's not really a debate when one of the candidates refuses to answer the question being asked to them and instead recites something memorized and rehearsed within the past 24 hours over and over.

Just be careful, running and treadmills can really screw up your legs. It's better to use ski machines or something similar where theres less impact on your system.

Wow some of you guys are ruthless,

You shouldn't cut and run the second you have second thoughts about a person.  If you do it seems like you'll never bet married or even with the same person for a long period of time. Sometimes you just hit a snag in the relationship and you get through it.

Caverlady, if I may... Why?

There are many things I don't like about Obama, but foremost I see him as an elitist and very much into his own superiority.

So what if he's an elitist, when did being "elite" become a bad thing? We're talking about the most powerful position in the world, I WANT the most powerful person to be an elitist. I want someone who is at the top to lead. I want someone smarter, more wordly, and all around better than the average joe to be president. Isn't this the definition of elite?

Too many people vote for a person just because they want to have a beer with them. It's not about that its about who's best for the job.

I don't think thats a question anyone here can answer for you. However, If theres violence or any type of abuse is involved need to get out yesterday.

Otherwise, just be honest with yourself.  When you think about the future is he there? Can you remember why you fell in love with him? If you look into his eyes can you still see the passion?

Good luck!!

She's serious about making a difference and helping the country, which is what every election is about.

The only problem is she has pretty much no experiance. Obama has been running for president longer than shes been a governer. And if they get elected she's just one breath away from being president. It's just not smart.

I try to watch the republican convention as much as I can, however I can only take small doses of republicans. I'm afraid if I hear too much of them at one time  i'll destroy my TV in rage.

Just some background info on me: I was raised in the catholic church and was deeply religious until about 3 years ago when I became an atheist.

It doesn't really affect peoples daily lives,  it does kind of in a way define a part of you. If you believe in creationism  you're a religius person.

It shouldn't affect whether you get a job but in some cases (unfortunately) it does. For an example an atheist running for any government position. No way would the atheist win (atheists are the least trusted group).

It affects your education nowadays because people are fighting to add the creationists argument to science classes. I am against this because I don't believe a science classroom is an appropiate place to teach religion. Also there should always be a seperation of church and state.

Just my .02

I never heard of that movement before.

I find it interesting that we're the only animals on the planet (to my knowledge) that have actually thought about making our own species extinct. It's so against nature.

I disagree with their statement about returning the biosphere to normal, we don't have to try to make our species extinct in order to do that. We already have the capability to do that. However there are good points about our resources diminishing, theres only so much of everything in this world.

But nature has ways or controlling that too through disease, natural disasters, etc.  One thing's for sure though, the human race is going to be around for a long time.

Fine guys,

Paint me as the bad guy.  Apparently i'm just a horrible person to have had voiced my opinion.

I'm extremely surprised at everyones attitude torward me on this forum. Instead of having a healthy debate I was met with sarcasm and disrespect.  I exprected more.

This is exactly why things don't get done not only in New Orleans, but in this Country. You attack someone just because they have a different opinion.

And that's why absolutely nothing is going to change.

So what you are saying is that it's alright to have the most vulnerable people live where they are most likely to get injured or killed in the event of a disaster. Then when a disaster happens, move all the vulnerable peple back to the same spot. That's even more reason to do something!!

Does this make sense to anyone else in here???  I'm being a critic because you HAVE to be a critic in order to see the flaws in the system and be able to change it for the better. Not just stick a band-aid on it.

Also, a house is a house. It's four walls which imeans absolutely nothing. What makes a home is the people who live in the house. The people you love.   Have you heard of the expression "home is where the heart is"?

Hey if they want to live there that's there business, but they shouldn't expect everyone else in the country to pay for their reconstruction.

My tax dollars aren't going to disasters in tornado alley or earthquakes in California. Those people realize the risks and they've learned to deal with it.

They have also come up with ways to prevent casualties in the event that these natual disasters happen (ie buildings that sway in earthquakes) They don't rely on the federal government to bail them out.  Now if they want to live there and just have their own state pay for whatever reperations they may need that's completely fine with me, but I become a little angered when I have to pay for something thats just going to get destroyed again in a matter of a few years.
