Weight Loss just a thought Apr 15 2009

I think it's definitely good not to stress too much, but worrying a little helps me lose weight. If I am a little worried about it, I am less likely to eat that cookie, whereas if I am not stressing at all, I'll just be like "Whatever, it's just one cookie." and scarf it down.

Weight Loss Anyone know anything about green tea extract? Apr 12 2009

If you have a very healthy diet, natural green tea will help a little bit, but not much. I used green tea pills to get healthier a year or two ago when I was not on a diet and I didn't lose any weight at all, but I don't think it can hurt. You just cannot rely on it.

Weight Loss Got on the scale after a "good" week and lost nada! Oct 09 2008

I cannot lose weight at 1500 calories a day. I usually do 1200. I end up gaining weight at 1500. Maybe you are the same. It just means your metabolism is a little slower.

And if you work out you should not allow yourself to eat more, it completely defeats the purpose!

But foods like that are harder for your body to break down. This causes your body to work harder to digest them, ultimately leading to a negative calorie effect!

That's what I've read, and I've done research on if it's false and nobody can give me proof it's not true... there are only people who don't believe it (and not many of them). But there are studies that prove that it is true! I wouldn't have believed it either before I read about this study...

Weight Loss ALCOHOL+weightloss??????? how the heck did THIS happen??? Oct 09 2008
03:59 (UTC)

It's not JUST dehydration.

The calories in the alcohol rev up your metabolism and burn off the food you ate that day. I asked my doctor one time because I noticed the same thing. But if you drink too much you will end up gaining a LOT of weight.

Weight Loss where is all this weight???? Oct 09 2008

Are you sure you're a size 14? I'm 5'4" and 130 lbs and I'm a size 4 and S in tops... I don't squeeze into jeans either. Maybe you are a smaller size and just don't realize it?

Keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat. If you work out a lot than that is probably the reason.

Just make sure you are being honest with yourself. It doesn't sound like you are underweight or too skinny unless you are VERY muscular.

If you want an accurate scale you should check with your doctor. Their scales are always correct.

My face gets puffy too! It's because alcohol dehydrates you so your body wants to hold onto all the water it can. This causes your face to bloat. Try drinking a lot of water whenever you drink and you should be fine.

Weight Loss Best Diet? And fasting question? Aug 31 2008

The South Beach Diet is awesome and works amazingly... but if you're going to go on it you need to read the book. Without it, the diet will be harder and you won't be able to follow it correctly. But trust me, this diet is amazing. And it even transforms into a lifestyle. There are steps, and if you follow them you will lose a ton of weight and keep it off while being healthy.

You may just be gaining muscle. If you've been working out a lot and doing weight-training type exercises, you having probably just gained muscle and haven't gotten around to losing the fat yet. Muscle weighs more than fat, so what happens is you start exercising and gain muscle, so it seems like you are gaining weight, but then all of a sudden you go down a lot and from there on out you basically just lose weight. It's awesome. Just keep doing what you're doing. Exercise is never a bad thing.

Just watch what you eat and keep up the cardio and you'll keep losing.

Weight Loss i miss fooooooooooood Aug 30 2008

haha it's ok! I've had those weeks MANY MANY time. I had a whole summer of that this past summer (I gained ten pounds, which sucks because I was at my goal weight).

The reason you have probably been missing food so much is because you've been restricting yourself TOO MUCH. Everything in moderation is a very good philosophy. You'll end up losing a lot of weight and KEEPING IT OFF if you make it a lifestyle change instead of a diet. Eat whole grains, lean meats, and LOTS AND LOTS of veggies, and then at the end of the day if you think you've been good reward yourself with a LITTLE dessert (I recommend Skinny-cow low fat fudge bars. They're AMAZING and big and they only have 100 calories). That way you won't miss food so much and you won't end up binging again.

p.s. you shouldn't compete with your "skinny friend". You should do this for you. It will only make you feel bad about yourself to compare yourself to her.

Good luck! And if you need any other little tips or anything feel free to message me. I've learned a lot of little tricks to dieting without feeling like you're dieting.

Health & Support Chewing and Spitting... eating disorder? Aug 29 2008

Thanks for the help. If anyone else has any advice please post it!

I am currently trying to eat more calories per day... today I got to about 950. I think my goal for tomorrow is going to be the same (about 900-1000) but I'm not sure if I'm going to be up for going above that any time soon...

To coach_k: I'm not promoting an eating disorder... I'm trying to get better from what could potentially be one.

Health & Support Not Having Period!!!!!! Please Help!!!!!! Aug 29 2008

Don't worry!!! Chill, it's ok. The same thing happened to me after I got my period. I'm 18 now and I've had my period since I was in seventh grade, and it is STILL not regular. It still doesn't come every month. Every doctor that I have asked about this says that it is completely normal and as long as you are not getting your period TOO often then everything is a-ok.

If you are really worried about it, see your doctor. But I'm sure it's not a big deal.

Healthily, you should probably be eating 1200-1500 calories a day plus excercise to lose weight and keep it off. But don't lose too much! You're already at a healthy BMI.

But if your body goes into starvation mode and you supposedly don't lose weight, why are anorexic people all so skinny? It must work! And if I'm eating SOMETHING it's better than eating nothing at all, right? And I eat a lot, too, it's just mostly vegetables and stuff which have barely any calories. I usually have an egg for breakfast, and coffee or a skim latte. Then for lunch I have some lettuce with lowfat dressing (2 tablespoons = 50 calories). And maybe another skim latte. Then for dinner I have a LOT of veggies and maybe a small piece of white meat chicken or something like that. I'm not unhealthy, but it usually comes out to around 700 calories...

Weight Loss I really need your advice! :D Aug 27 2008

You will still lose weight if you eat cookies but it will slow you down. Not all calories are the same. It would be better and you would lose weight faster if you were getting those calories from vegetables or another, whole grain type of carb. You should probably keep the cookies limited to once or twice a week, not every day.

Foods Greek Yogurt? Aug 27 2008

Greek yogurt is the food of the gods. One small container of FAGE 2% greek yogurt is only 130 calories and I find that half of the container is enough if you add bluberries, rasberries, granola, honey, etc. It's amazing. I always keep it in my fridge and it's perfect for breakfast and lunch. It's so much better than regular yogurt. I would recommend it any day.
