if you eat so much because you think your allowed to because of how much you work out, and your having trouble filling up on healthy foods, why not try working out a little bit less. maybe only 30-45 minutes. you'll still have a good workout in, and it doesn't give you the excuse to go crazy on food.

ugh i swear sports ruined me. ha jk its not that bad but between volleyball and swimming, i now have the thighs of a volleyball player and the broad shoulders of a swimmer. awesome combinations. haha

ha yeah i wasn't planning on changing my breakfast too much but i think ill stick with oatmeal and some fruit and maybe some toast with peanut butter... im not so sure im going to try the pancakes tomorrow but they sound really goos so ill def. try them  sometime soon! but thanks for the advice everyone!

i swim and play volleyball one of the two almost all year round, but i lift weights to get stronger, i started that last year, and it really has improved my perfomances, i jump a lot higher and hit a lot harder for volleyball, and my times for swimming have dropped A LOT so i guess i have motivation behind it. and usually i run inbetween seasons because i know i need to stay in shape

if you really do want to get some excersize in you could always try just taking a detour either to or from class... make your ride a little bit longer and try a little bit harder so then you won't have to fuss about going to the gym it'll just be an extra 20 minutes onto your usualy bike ride. you could add it on on the way home that way you wont be sweaty when you go to class

your body is probably not used to eating until later in the day, sometimes if  dont eat for a while, im not very hungry anymore, and dont think im hungry, but i really am, so once i eat, i just want everything. so try and regulate your eating a little bit more so you eat every couple of hours even in the morning and you shouldn't feel like you have to eat EVERYTHING when you finally do eat.

jessica biel... to me i think she looks real. and if your motivating yourself to look like a movie star i feel like her image is more achievable and healthy than some of the other stars.

the thing with me is that before i started lifting i didn't have much fat, i've actually gained inches in muscle, instead of losing inches.

i swim competitively and it is a really good full body workout, you use tons of muscles.  just swimming straight laps will get boring probably, so you could try looking up some workouts online which will make the workout a little more interesting and it will mix it up. goodluck!

hey beanaparker, okay well im 5'10" i can be anywhere 150-155 lbs. and as far as how much i eat, i try to aim from 1800-2100 calories, but sometimes i think thats not enough because if i go into "maintenance" than i gain all the weight right back, but the other night it was really bad, ha it wasn't a binge or anything, but i was at a party and they had pizza and this chocolate covered popcorn that was amazing and macaroni and cheese, and well i probably ate a good 2500+ calories at that party along with the like 1000 that i ate earlier in the day. which is sad, because i used to eat like that all the time, but i just am trying to be healthier about things.  i guess my ultimate goal is to just lose some body fat and tone up a little bit, im not as concerned about the scale since i am so active and lifting and whatever else.

im sorry to say that i dont really have too much help either, but i am in the exact same situation! and it is so frustrating!!! im 5'10" and im usually about 151 when i really watch my calories and all that, and then ill eventually go down to 148 at the lowest, and the second i start to eat at maintenance or let go even just a little bit, im back up to around 154 its so annoying! im very active i play volleyblall and swim for my high school, and i lift weights and i feel like i am getting no results. and its really not even the number on the scale that im that worried about, i guess its more just losing body fat and toning things up a little bit, but i dont feel like i've  seen much of a result there either.

omg i swear i could eat forever and never stop! im very active too, i play varsity sports, volleyball and swimming all year, and then i weight lift too.  just last night i ate soooo much! and the thing is half the time i know im not that hungry but if the food is there i can eat all day and not feel like full.  ha i hate it, so i really have to watch my calorie intake and portions otherwise i just dont stop eating haha.

ha yeah, i mean i do have a lot of muscle so i guess ultimately it is just a couple pounds of body fat i'd like to lose, im really not all that concerned about the scale number, but i just dont feel like i've seen that much change in my body i guess.  and i usually try to be pretty good about sodium and trying to avoid it. thanks guys!

well the thing with changing my routine is that im in varsity sports, so outside of practice i dont have much time to do anything else, i went from volleyball season to swim season, so i dont usually do too much working out on my own besides lifting.

yeah i dont necessary agree with the article. theres some truth to what they are saying but as far as the exercises hurting your back, as long as your technique is good.. and building muscle in your thighs, well yeah thats going to happen but doesn't muscle look better than fat? and it wont make you huge, unless you are seriously training for strength and all that stuff.

omg my fluctuations are so bad too! i hate it especially because if i slip up once, like last night i had a brownie the only treat i had all day, and the first time i've had any real "treats" in a long time and i gained 2 lbs. and i swear everytime i let myself have a treat i gain at least 2 lbs. i know its water weight and what not but its so annoying!

i completely understand, i was the same way i got kind of obsessive over what i was eating, i took a couple weeks off from counting calories and just ate healthy and within reason, and i have the problem too where i have most foods memorized and i just kind of end up adding things up in my head anyway, but i ate when i was hungry, ate within reason, and i felt better, im counting calories again now, because i wasn't exactly losing any weight, i maintained it though, but i feel better now just taking that break.

see the thing for me is that i miss the junk foods, mainly all the sweets and stuff, but at the same time they just dont taste as good to me anymore. but if i do have a bite of something like a cookie or whatever, and it doesn't taste as good anymore, im just not satisfied so i could seriously eat 10 cookies if i really wanted to.  so i guess its more of the fact that im just stuck, im craving a really really good cookie or something,but at the same time if i eat a cookie i dont get the satisfaction that i want if that makes any sense?

aghh i do the same thing i look at the scale all the time and i know i shouldn't.  just out of curiosity, i weight myself in the morning but if i weigh myself later on im usually about 4-5 lbs. heavier, i mean i know its just fluctuation, water weight, etc.. but do you fluctuate about that much too? ha it makes me feel like my weight in the morning isn't my real weight haha idk sounds weird but w/e

well the doctor said they were just muscle tension headaches so the prescription has an added muscle relaxer.  i go to a chiropractor too which will help once everything gets put back in place and whatnot.  so i dont really take the medication too often just when i really need to so i dont think i really need to change the prescription but i guess i was just sort of curious.

first off make sure that you eat breakfast.. and if you already are, maybe make your breakfast bigger.  if your busy throughout the day, take healthy snacks with you so you can always have something to eat fruit, granola bars, vegetables, crackers, dry cereal(make sure its healthy though kashi go lean is good).  cheese sticks, nuts.  just snack on these things between whatever you are doing during the day.  then also maybe brings something to snack on while your studying so you wont feel so hungry when you get back home

im a daughter and im 17... i wouldn't say that me and my mom are "best friends" or anything but we get along and hardly ever fight.  if we do its usually more of an argument than a fight.  my parents aren't very strict they trust me even though i have made a couple wrong decisions but nothing too bad.  they were never over protective and did not try and shelter me from everything. i think im a very independent person i think because of that.  a lot of people that i know that dont have good relationships with their parents are the ones that dont trust them. and if they do get into a little bit of trouble they over react about every little thing.  so in my opinion as a long as your respect and trust your kids and let them be themselves you'll have a good relationship.

i did the body fat % thing from that link it said i was 17% which is lower than i expected too but who knows... ha and i was looking at your profile and it said that you want to get into chemical/ biomedical engineering, thats awesome ... im actually planning on going into the same fields eventually, ill end up majoring in in just chemistry or something

ha i swear we are almost exactly the same.  my burn meter says around 2650 and i can usually do really well for about 2-3 weeks and then i binge so im probably just going to take it easy for a little while and just maintain and watch what i eat... and i've never gotten my body fat tested accurately but im pretty sure im somewhere around 22%? maybe..

ahhh see my problem is that i think i screwed up my metabolism a little bit before i knew more about eating healthy and what not, i was only eating 1500 cals a day so.. i've actually recently decided that im going to try and just eat healthy foods and only eat when im hungry and just make my diet healthier for a little while at least during swim season and then maybe start back on restricting some of the calories im not completely sure yet what im going to do.. but just some thoughts i guess
