Blah!

Hey everyone! I'm sorry I haven't been around. I feel off the horse on last Wedensday and didn't put myself back on till today. I exercised today and have been eating really healthy and I feel much better about myself. Unfortunately though I up to 188, but I'm not going to let that get me down.

Hey everyone! I'm sorry I haven't been on here. I just had a bad couple of days. I was not watching what I was eating and eating too much. I also wasn't exercising and I just fell apart, which has bumped me up to 188 pounds. I'm not discouraged though. Today I got back on track exercised and ate a healthy breakfast and lunch. I know I can keep this up because I feel so much better when I do.

I'm really falling off the horse. Its just hard when my sister is around.

Good job novileigh! I was having the same problem as you for awhile.

Yesterday I had a bit of a splurge, but I only ate a little more than 1300 calories so I'm sure my splurge didn't put me over. The good thing about my splurge was that I splurged on healthy food so it couldn't have been more than 400 calories and even if it was it wouldn't be too bad. I'm pretty sure I stayed under 2000 calories which makes me happy!

Motivation Trying to accept my rectangular body shape Sep 04 2008

I am a rectangle too and I really happy with that. One of the best parts about being a reactangle is that when we gain weight we gain it everywhere and when we lose weight we lose it everywhere. It just makes weight loss a lot easier. We have one of the luckiest body shapes as far as that goes.

And while are womanly curves aren't as great as say someone with an hourglass shape we are still gorgeous in our on way. Our shape is fantastic. Infact I know people who are envious of my rectangle shape.

So don't worry about your shape because your still gorgeous and at least weightloss is pretty easy for us.

Weight Loss Really big fluctuations Sep 03 2008
08:54 (UTC)

That actually seems quite normal. Your weight will fluctuate throughout the day because its based on so many factors like if you just ate your going to weigh more, but if you haven't eaten in awhile you will probably weigh a little less. Generally people weigh less in the morning and weigh more at night.

It could also be the way you are standing on the scale or just the scale itself. I weighed my self one morning and I weighed 184. and then I weighed myself less than a minute later and I weighed 186. It is very unlikely that I gained 2 pounds in under a minute so it was probably the scale or the weigh I was standing on it.

But like I said before its probably just normal. My weight fluctuates throughout the day from up to 4 pounds more to 2 pounds less so I wouldn't worry about the fluctuation. :D

One way to meet people is to do what you are doing right now posting on the forums. You can also post comments on people's journals and you can join groups depending on your intrests, weight loss goals, where you live, etc. There are also groups in the forums you can join. So there are plently of ways to meet people on here.

That's really interesting, but are they subtracting the weight of the object they used to weigh the food in? But I'm sure that information if true anyway. I'm happy about it thoug because thinking back to measuring my food I always do it under the rim. Well maybe not all of the time but most of the time.

infiniteheart- I actually don't start school till next Monday, but I appreciate the kindness so thanks. :D The monthly weigh in didn't go so well. I only lost one pound, but its okay at leats it is one pound closer to my goal so hurray! I haven't thought about my goals for September, but actually do have a few

  • Start school strong and get my first assignment in early.
  • lose 8-10 pounds.
  • try to be more active.
  • Get a part time job.
  • Start a yoga class.

Congrats! Thats really awesome. Thats really encouraging to me. I am the same height as you and I had the same starting weight, but I am trying to lose 60 pounds, but still like I said very encouraging. It just goes to show that if you keep with it and push yourself weight loss can happen. I hope you lose your next 20 pounds with the same luck.

Weight Loss stupid question maybe? Sep 03 2008

I agree with sublimelmf, but it also depends what you eat as a vegetarian. Though you might not have to worry about that since your on this site you are probably already eating healthy.

I was a vegetarian for about a year and I wasn't aware of any weight loss. However I didn't notice anything because I ate really crappy food and I didn't exercise. So as long as you are eating healthy vegetarian food and getting enough exercise it should help. Also I never noticed an increase in hunger because of a lack of protein, but I wasn't watching what I was eating at the time. I just don't think I was eating more. Though it could just depend on the person.

K9- Sorry about the confusing height thing. I thought I was 5'8" so that's what I put on my profile. Then I recently checked my height and I'm actually 5'6", but I am closer to 5'7". I forgot to change my height on my profile, but I fixed it now that you pointed it out. 125 is a bit on the smaller side of a healthy for my height, but I have a small frame so I figured it's okay. I could be wrong though.

In recent news I ate a brownie today and I didn't enjoy it, which is great! It means my body is no longer dependent on a daily processed sugar fix. This made me very happy, but a little sad because I really like brownies. I guess I'll just get a healthy brownie recipe from one of my cook books. I have sooo many cook books its insane.

Hmm... Bleach sounds pretty interesting. I think I shall check it out.

icutoffmyhair- Welcome to the group! I'm 5'6" myself, but I'm pretty close to 5'7" so I consider myself to be 5'7". I'm only taller than my mom and my sister Lydia, but I'm much shorter than my other two sisters and I'm way shorter than my dad.

smltwnhapa- if your worried about not making it past your current weight then try changing your exercise and/or try and eat a different amount of calories everyday. Like one day you could have 1600 and then the next day have 1400 or something like that. It keeps your weight/body from hitting a plateau.

I've done pretty okay today myself. I ate a brownie and I didn't like it, which means my body is finally kicking its addiction to processed sugar (though the brownie probably didn't help).

Ahh! I love manga and anime. The first manga I ever read was Fruit's Basket. I still like it too. I also like Yu-Gi-Oh, Naruto, Hellsing, Tsubasa, Cardcaptor Sakura, Ceres, xxxHolic, Planet Ladder, and Alice 19th. I've never read Bleach or watched the anime, but everyone says I should. Could you tell me the basic story in a nutshell?

Olivia - I don't know if I trust my cutting skills on other people yet. I should probably test it on a few dummies before I try it on a person. Home-school is really nice. I find working at home is a much healthier environment. I don't feel as stressed. I used to be terrible at math while I was at public school, but once I started home school about a year ago I excelled in math. In fact it is now my best subject. I'm not sure how to explain the stubbornness. I guess I mean it like on certain political issues I really have my mind set on my opinion and I just don't understand how someone could think otherwise, but its only on like 2 issues.

And just for everyone I guess I'll just share how I've been doing with eating and weightloss. I've eaten about 1500 calories to day, which is really good... I think. I try to vary my intake everday so my body never gets used to just one certain amount of calories. I did pretty good in my exercise today, but I could have pushed myself harder. How have you guys been doing?

I believe we are also talking about tomatoes? I don't like raw tomatoes either. I can only eat tomatoes in a sandwich because all the other stuff covers up the taste. I tried to eat a cherry tomato the other day, but it didn't work

I don't know if this counts as a sundae but all I would want is 3 or 4 heaping scoops of vanilla frozen yogurt topped with about 2 bags of gummy bears and maybe some strawberry sauce.

Hi Melody ---  love your hair cut!  ( :

I wish I could workout 2 hours a day.   I shoot for 40 minutes since I have to get up at 5AM to do it and I have to be ready for my carpool ride to work by 6:30 AM every day.

I love that your cat has multiple nicknames ---  ours totally do too.  (blush)

I'm curious.....  I have a few things I "get stuck" on too......   anything like diet related or more-so life stuff?    For example, I just recently realized that I truly do lose more when I eat more.  I was sticking as close to 1400 as I could, but if I eat more like 1700 and maintain my workouts as before, the lbs fell off at the end of the month.  I struggle with that.  As a teen, the less I ate, the cooler I was --- crazy, but true....    Don;t let me pry -- just a question....

for everyone -- what do you do?  ( :

Thanks! I cut my hair myself. I got this hair razor comb thing a few months back and it has made cutting my hair really simple.

I do 2 hours mostly because I have the time and I'm home schooled so I can multitask study and workout!

Well all of the pets in our house have millions of nicknames. Most of them are thought up by my dad.

Don't worry I didn't think you were prying. I meant it as in life in general and how on some issues I just have my opinion set and I'm a little stubborn about hearing any differently, but I still try to be as nice as possible to some who thinks differently. I don't let it jeopardize a potential friendship.

I don't do much other than sit around and workout. I do have a job working for my grandpa and I go to his house once a week and I clean.

I would like to join!

My name is Melody. I'm 16, 5'7", and 184 pounds. I live in Seattle, Washington. I have a pet cat named Kiki/Jimmy/Kitty-Bitty (Yes, she goes by all those names.) I love anime and cosplaying. I really enjoy cooking and playing the piano. I will eat anything with noodles or beef (its even better if there is both). I would consider myself an open person, but there are a few things I'm stuck on. I work out 7 days a week for no longer than 2 hours each day.

I have only lost about 5 pounds and I would like to lose about 59 more so it will put me at 125 pounds.

I like small groups because it feels so much more personal than a large ones. Its great to just have a few awesome people all going for the same goal of a healthier happier life.

Fitness Moderate or Light Activity? Sep 01 2008

I've decided to set my activity to sedentary because then I at least know how much a burn at a minimum so I know the proper amount of calories I should eat everyday. I going to document my daily activity more closely so then if I spend more time on my feet than sitting down I might change my activity to light or moderate depending on the ratio of of active hours to none active hours (sleep not included).

momof2 - We don't have a Tanger outlets around here, but we do have a Westfield shopping center. They just redesigned it so now it has a movie theater and a very tempting food court. I have to keep myself away from it or I'm afraid i might stuff myself with fatty foods. Though your mall sounds a lot better than ours everything at our is so expensive. yikes! I forgot to say this earlier. I am really sorry about your loss. Losing family is really hard and I understand your pain. I'm here if you need a crying shoulder. My thoughts are with you.

Everyone - Thanks for letting me into the group. Its nice to have this little party of friends to share my ups and downs with. I'll try to check in as much as I can.

I had two brownies today, but I was able to control myself and its only about 240 calories so I'm still feeling pretty good.

I checked my weight today since it has been a month since my last weigh in AND I only lost 1 pound. I was really depressed about this earlier, but while I was working out I decided that I'll take that one pound. At least it is one pound lower and not one pound higher. I am one pound closer to my goal and proud of it!

  • CW: 185

  • Height: 5'7"
  • Sex: Female
  • Age: 16

I check my weight about once every month at the end of the month. The less frequent weigh-ins make me feel like I've accomplished more than if I did it on a weekly basis.

I rarely eat fruit by itself. I usually eat it with other foods and I feel fine afterwards. Though that could just be me.

The heart attack thing sounds valid enough but the other things sound pretty far-fetched, which makes me question the validity of the heart attack thing. I could be wrong though, but it just seems like a bit much to me.

Can I join in with you guys? I'm about 185 currently (my heaviest was 189), I stand at 5'6" and I want to weigh about 125 by March 31st.

I've been working out for the last few weeks so I might not even been in the 180's anymore, but I only check my weight once a month at the end of the month so I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

Motivation How are you rewarding yourself for losing weight? Aug 30 2008
06:00 (UTC)

I have a reward set up for every 10 pounds I lose. I don't know how much weight I've lost yet since I check only once a month, but once I lose the first 10 pounds I'm going to get myself a new music book for the piano. Then for 20 pounds I get a new stuffed animal (I love stuffed animals). For 30 pounds lost I'm get a new book. 40 pounds I'm gonna get my hair done. 50 pounds lost I'm gonna get a belly button piercing. And then after finally reaching 60 pounds I'm going to buy myself a brand new dress that I will look fantastic in.

So that is my whole reward system.

With those stats and that activity -- you DO burn close to 3000 cals per day to maintain -- not 2400 (again, you must use the teen calculators -- the ones on this site are NOT appropriate) -- as you are "moderately active" for a teen.  Having said that, you should eat 2000-2100 to lose almost 2lb per week.

Anytime you can eat more and STILL lose, it is a good idea to do so -- this means your metabolism is working at it's most efficient.

Good luck

Thanks for the info. That's really helpful. :D

Can we get some stats to help us? Age, weight, height?  2400 sounds like a lot of calories for weight loss.  Where did you get this number?  Are you sure this isn't the number you should be eating to maintain?  How much exercise do you do and how often?  What kind?  Sorry for all the questions, I'm just curious. :)

Unless you're burning over 3000 calories a day, you shouldn't have any issues eating 2000 calories.

I'm 16, I weigh 185 pounds and I'm 5'6". And I think your right 2400 might be a bit much it is probably meant to maintain.

I exercise almost everyday and I generally workout for about an hour and half. I do cardio and weight training.

You've probably gained muscle. So I wouldn't be too worried. You're just getting stronger.

You could just be gaining more muscle. Do you think you look any trimmer than when you started? Because 2 people could weight the same, but one person could be smaller because they have more muscle instead of fat.
