| Health & Support | Seroquel/ Clonazepam (klonopin) / effexor xr... weight gain/loss... addictive? | Aug 24 2009 03:39 (UTC) |

Oh Hunny, stay far away from Seroquel!!! I was on here for awhile and got my weight to where I felt great. Then my psych put me on Seroquel. 40 pounds later I went back to my doc. She asked me why I wanted to stop taking it and if I was having any major side effects. I told her yea, 40 pounds worth. So, I'm back on here for another round. I have to agree that Seroquel is the Devil. I was always hungry. If that wasn't bad enough, I was so sedated that I pretty much ate and slept. Never a good combination. |

| Health & Support | Psychiatric Meds and Weight Gain Fear-- Seroquel and Lithium | May 23 2009 22:16 (UTC) |

I'm on Seroquel and it's been a hard road. I'm on 400 mg a day for PTSD. I've gained a lot of weight from it (about 30 pounds) and it's driving me nuts. It makes me want to eat, but not because I'm hungry. I've tried not taking it, but that just makes me bounce off the walls and not sleep for days. I've found it's great for the mental symptoms, but physically, it sucks. I'm going to see if my doc will give me something else. I'm on Celexa for depression, but that just doesn't seem to be working at all. I have no physical side effects from it though. I hope this helps a bit. |

| Weight Loss | Can I have a "comments about my weight" thread please? | May 23 2009 21:48 (UTC) |

I went in the hospital for awhile and they gave me this wonderful med that makes me want to do nothing but eat. I put on 30 pounds since. This morning I was outside waiting for my son to get here and my upstairs neighbor came down to chat with me. He told me that he ws going to be an uncle. I thought he was talking about his cat, so I just smiled. Further into the conversation, he said, "So what are you, 4 or 5 months?" I looked at him so funny and told him that I wasn't pregnant. Then he said, "Oh, I'm sorry. It's just that you put on so much weight." Just then my son came, so I made a quick escape into the house. Just when I was trying to get comfortable with myself, he totally killed it. Back to the drawing board. |

I think your haircut looks really cute. It could be worse. Actually, when I tried to go shoulder length, it ended up in a bob. I didn't like how it looked with my curly hair, so I shaved it off. I have been nearly bald for about 3 years or so now, LOL. Before that I had hair to my butt. I wanted a change, so I shaved my head to a number 2 on my 20th birthday. It sounds weird, but it turned out to be my favorite haircut. |

I really like the BTPB. Actually, the other day I needed more calories, so I used regular peanut butter instead and I didn't like it, LOL. After half a sandwich, I was gagging on the stuff. I haven't tried PB2, but I think I might have to give it a shot. |

| Vegetarian | What finally made you become a vegetarian? | Nov 28 2008 01:50 (UTC) |

I'm not a complete vegetarian yet, but I am thinking about it. I used to be and I started when I was about 10. I was brought up on a farm. I wasn't your typical girl; I didn't much care for the horses or anything like that. The bull, now he was my buddy. I spent a lot of time from when he was little going out and feeding him and rubbing his head, etc. He became a pet to me. Then one day I came home from school and my bull was missing. That did it for me. I stayed a vegetarian up until I got pregnant with my first son when I was 20. I was craving meat so bad that I gave in. Then I stayed an omnivore for a long time. This year I started going back to vegetarianism slowly. I still do fish, but I won't touch anything else. |

| Motivation | Frustration in clothing - no consistency in Plus Sizes. | Nov 24 2008 04:25 (UTC) |

Ooh, another fun one that I recently learned about was vanity sizing. They do it in a lot of the mall shops like Express. That's where they make the women's clothing a bit too big. Like they'll make a size 6, but put size 4 on the tag. That one confused me for a bit. Then I wanted to do something different, so I hit Ambercrombie. I was with my bud and we were checking out some shirts. I thought they looked unusually small. He found his size and put it on. He could hardly move. I'm guessing that they make men's clothes smaller and women's clothes bigger?? |

We actually have to work out separately. I'm the early bird, and he isn't ready to move that much until afternoon. I think my military training is still in me, LOL. When we do end up trying to work out together, either he quits on me because it's too early in the morning, or I don't seem to get as good of a workout because I already started my day. I'm one of those people who hear the alarm and is up, dressed, and ready to go in like 5 minutes. After that, my motivation starts slipping the later in the day it gets. Well, that's just my experience with it. |

I just got started for today, but so far I had an Eggo low fat Nutrigrain waffle with fat free syrup and some green tea. Then I did the Tae Bo Amped Core workout which is only 30 minutes. (I'm slacking today, LOL.) And I just had a protein shake made with half a banana, 2 tablespoons pumpkin, Designer Whey protein powder, unsweetened Almond Breeze, and some pumpkin spice. Now, I'm thinking coffee... |

I vary my foods pretty much on a daily basis trying different veggies, fruits, and recipes. There are a few things that I HAVE to have. Peanut butter, bananas, salsa, Eggbeaters, protein shake (different recipe each day), cod or tuna, almond milk, Boca burger, and either a high fiber snack bar or some cereal. Usually after I have most of my everyday foods, I go on a search for new recipes to finish out the day. |

For me it happened when I got back down to a size 7. That was the size I was before I had my boys, and I never thought I would see it again. Then I decided that I wanted to become more toned. That included a bit more weight loss but have been evening it out with healthy food. Now I can look in a mirror and see my muscles and I feel great. I'm in yet another spot where I didn't think I would ever be. I can watch a workout video and instead of saying I want to look like her, I can say, hey I have a body like hers. I think it's really different for everybody. As long as I can see my little muscles, I'm good, LOL. |

| Weight Loss | I'm tired of the ignorant comments | Oct 27 2008 22:11 (UTC) |

I have plenty of people telling me the most annoying things. I like to eat healthy and am happy with myself. I was a decent sized girl at 165 and have slowly taken it off through the years. My grandma insists that I need to put all the weight back on because I guess being overweight is the equivalent of being happy in her book. Then again she is the junk food queen. Now I work as a dancer and have people coming up to me all the time telling me I need to eat more. I eat plenty. I get so tired of hearing the same things each day at work. I do have to say that the absolute worst is when someone tells me I should eat some steak and potatoes. Hello, I'm vegetarian! I just think people open their mouths before they know the whole story. |

| Weight Loss | Anyone else a 34d? | Oct 27 2008 22:00 (UTC) |

I actually have to get remeasured myself. I started this whole weightloss thing at a 34DD, then one, two skipped a few and am somewhere around a 32B. I stopped at a 34D for awhile and had the same problem. I would find all these great bras, but they never had my size. They were either too small or too big. I thought I was pretty normal, LOL. |

Bicycles- I was laughing so hard at your prediction. I did the same thing just to see what it would say. I kept scrolling down to see when it would say, okay don't lose any more weight, but it kept going. By 2010 I could be a nice 50 pounds. That's less than my 6 year old! |

I had a problem eating enough calories also, but I couldn't seem to get even 1200. Some great advice I got was to eat peanut butter and banana sandwiches. Those things are now my little addiction, LOL. They are soooo tasty and are full of calories to bump you up a bit. I have to have one everyday. |

| Fitness | 700 calories in an hour - Possible? | Oct 15 2008 03:06 (UTC) |

That's the same thing I've been tripping out on. In the mornings I do about an hour of Tae Bo and on this site I burn usually around 200-250 calories. On another site where I had to put in my weight it said that I burn between 544 at the very least. I guess I should go with the higher one also. I don't have a heart rate monitor though. |

I'm 27, 5'2, and 99lbs. I figured once I got to 1200 calories, I could work my way up from there. Thanks for all the great ideas. I love benanas, but never thought of making a sandwich with peanut butter. That would actually work out perfectly because I'm usually short about 550. Adding one more meal instead of eatting for hours on end will make things much easier. It's a good idea for me to log my foods first, that way I'm sure that by the end of the day, I'll have my calories. Normally it hits about 3pm and I think I still have plenty of time, but it never works out that way. |

I usually peel them first and then put them in a freezer bag. I do this pretty much as soon as I bring the bananas home because they go bad so quickly. It has worked out well so far. |
