Rachael Ray has a really good, pretty much fat free version in one of her 30 minute meals vegetarian cookbooks. I can't remember it off the top of my head but I make it a few times a year and even meat eaters love it. You could try searching for it on the internet or if you are really interested - I'll try to remember to post when I get home. Sometimes I add the boca meat crumbles to it as well.. |

I was really surprised by how fast my body got used to the workouts as well.. The first week was brutal - I could barely move I was so sore! And sore everywhere! But by the time I started week 2 - the soreness went away. I'm in the beginning of week 3 now and my muscles are definitely fatigued the day after a workout but they aren't getting sore anymore.. Even though I feel like I'm "bringing it" and I sweat my way through all the exercises I feel like I'm not getting as effective a workout without the soreness afterwards. |

Ah! If only I stuck it out for 10 more minutes I might have been able to suffer through the last half! I felt really badly afterwards for quitting. It was the only session I couldn't finish. Thanks for the input. I'll keep that in mind Thursday morning when I try my second attempt.. |

allibee - I had my first yoga session over the weekend and I only made it through 35 minutes of it! I don't know that I can do all 90 minutes. Have you made it through the entire video? So far all of the other videos have been hard but manageable.. I hope not being able to do the entire 90 minutes doesn't hinder my progress.. Are you doing classic or lean? |

I just started p90x this week. I have been a complete couch potato for months now and my exercise experience before consisted of the elliptical and sporadic aerobics, kickboxing and pilates classes. I was somewhat intimidated to start but after reading about all of the amazing results I decided to go for it. It IS a very intense workout and I've been sooo sore this week but its doable. I can't do every move perfectly or for as many reps as they do but Tony is very adamant about just trying your best and taking breaks as needed. I really like it so far. I say go for it! I'm about to do the yoga dvd for the first time now. |

Thanks for the response. I'll have to try harder to increase my calories. I feel like I eat so much more food when I make healthier choices! I've even been drinking 2 - 110 cal low-carb protein shakes a day for the added boost in my protein intake. I don't enjoy oatmeal but maybe I'll look into the protein powder and try a smoothie... maybe make a bean salad.. Tonight is my first 'Ab Ripper X'. I'm nervous! |

I started this morning with Core. I am doing the lean version. It was super hard since I have no upperbody strength but Tony seemed to be okay with everyone doing the best they could - even if it wasn't perfect - so thats what I did and I made it through. On to cardio tomorrow morning.. Good luck with Plyo! |

My husband forgot to bring home the dvd so I officially start at 5:30am tomorrow. That was my reasoning for deciding to do the workouts in the morning - nothing can get in the way and I can't make any excuses as the day goes on. I'm excited to begin since it seems everyone who follows the program faithfully has great results. Let us know how you make out when you take your measurements. |

I'm starting the program on Monday. Any tips or advice for me? I don't have the pull up bar and plan to modify with bands. How often does everyone weight themselves/take measurements? I currently weigh myself every day but I'm not sure if thats the best approach now as many people have said initially their muscles are retaining water. Also - I'm planning on getting up early and doing the videos before work. Does anyone else do them first thing in the morning? Do you feel weaker in the mornings? I sometimes feel I don't have a lot of energy when I first get up. |

| Weight Loss | South Beach or Weight Watchers? | Apr 06 2009 14:05 (UTC) |

I have been doing weight watchers (again) since the end of January with so-so results. Recently, I've begun following a combination of South Beach and weight watchers and its going really well. I cut out all refined carbs but still stay within my daily points target. I found I'm not as hungry during the day. I've lost 5 pounds in the last week and I don't have the cravings I do when I eat carbs. It seems to be working! |

My new favorite: 3 Bean Salad 1 can chickpeas (garbanzo beans) 1 can black beans 1 can kidney beans 1/2 cup chopped red onion 4 tablespoons reduced fat italian dressing Rinse and drain all beans to get rid of excess sodium. Mix all ingredients together and chill. This recipe actually tastes best a day or two later as the flavors mix together. I serve myself 1/2 cup over a green salad or use as a side with an easy protein. Beans are higher in calories but are so healthy - lots of fiber and protein and other good stuff. |
