bulimia. |

:( I. Hate. Bulimia. It's created this monstrously SICK relationship with food.
It started as anorexia and when i realized THAT wasn't making me happy: hello, Bulimia.
At the end of the night, the world comes together and everything makes sense. In the morning, I'm strong and good.
But the problems start as I take that FIRST bite of food, evern if it's a healthy meal. I am addicted to being skinny and I'm in this mindset of: "Well I'm going to throw it up anyway, might as well eat like a pig." |

Foods you thought you hated... |

When I was little, I thought I hated onions, olives, any seafood, coffee and raw tomatoes.
Now...I love love love all seafoods! I eat onions raw sometimes (just little slices here and there).
I used to hate sweet potatoes, too, but I guess I just don't like them sweet. I like 'em more savory.

Weird Food Habits #2...Be Honest! |
Feb 13 2009 05:13 (UTC) |

-I ALWAYS eat cereal with yogurt; I'm lactose intolerant and soymilk isn't my cup o' tea - and neither is rice milk. I like nut milk but we don't have many places that sell it around here.
-Ketchup & peas; ketchup and baby carrots; ketchup and potato chips; ketchup and bread...
-I do a lot of those "picking" things, too - the pecans out of butter pecan ice cream, the chips out of chocolate chip ice cream...
-I love love love dry oatmeal! Or dry oatmeal mixed with yogurt.
-I like the white part of an orange peel; NOT the outside rind. But the inner part :D
-Dry ramen noodles; crushed and season packet added
-Pickles on my grilled cheese
-Canned super mini baby shimp mixed with cocktail sauce, then eaten on plain rice cakes or crackers
Haha - not TOO bizerk, but weird enough. |

Rice - avoid? |

Rice. Is. Awesome. :D
For amplified health benefit, go for brown or wild. White rice is okay, but we all know that the more natural it is, the better. |

Am I a bad friend? |

Out of tons of experience and mistakes, you've got to loosen up a bit.
For my sixteenth birthday party, my family (including aunts and uncles and grandparents) took me out to my favorite Asian restaurant, straight up Hibachi table.
I barely ate anything.
Before dinner, my aunt wanted me to take a bite of her stuffed mushrooms. Not a whole mushroom, just a bite because she made them for me. I saw that she has put cheese on them; I didn't touch them.
We got home from dinner, and my being a coffee lover, my aunt ordered a special lactose free coffee-flavored ice cream cake.
I didn't even have a bite.
At the time, I was thinking, "Well look at all of them; fat and annoying. They can stuff their faces, but I'm thin."
Well, I hurt a lot of people that night. And I didn't realize that till later.
I mean, having an uncontrollable binge isn't the answer. But maybe I should've just tried a BITE of a mushroom. Eaten a little more rice. Had a little sliver of cake.
When your dieting begins to affect your social life in a negative way, something is wrong.
Don't ever restrict yourself in an unhealthy way.
A doughnut in the morning is fine; maybe coffee instead of Dr. Pepper. A tiny piece of cake, from the center to avoid excess icing. Eating more than just a salad for dinner is totally okay.
No, you're not a bad friend.
Just loosen up :D We're young. |

Last night I had a generous coffee mug full of chocolate lactaid (i'm lactose intolerant) icecream!
the caloric value of lactaid icecream is the same as normal.
AND I added marshmallows
and this morning, I added peanut butter to my oatmeal. and I didn't measure it. |

breakfast Oatmeal with cocoa powder and honey peanut butter Big apple Coffee
snack saltines with mini babyel cheese round
lunch Fiber One honey clusters cereal Blueberry pomegranate yogurt Apple Baby carrots
snack dunno yet
dinner Gardenburger Veggie Riblet on a hoagie Spinach salad with sun dried tomatoes, feta, onion and Italian dressing
snack probably chocolate or butter pecan lactaid icecream
I don't ever plan my days anymore; I haven't eaten lunch yet but I'm in my third period computer programming class, and I'm procrastinating on my project, haha! But I packed that for lunch so I'm assuming that's what I'll have. And my mom is making sure we eat dinner tonight together (we as in the family - all 5 of us) and she has it planned so that's how I know my dinner. I'm excited - they're eating ribs and I've got my veg-friendly version of a BBQ rib. :D
Anyway, those babyel cheese things are amazing! I loved them with the crackers, but the cheese tasted weird when I took a nibble of it plain. We got the original ones, not the light so I dunno about those.
And I seriously, seriously recommend my chocolate peanut butter oatmeal. It's really good. The PB I use is Smucker's natural with honey. It's very good for you - the only ingredients are honey, peanuts and salt. Seriously.
Anyway; |

Apple Cider Vinigar For Improving Digestion? Any other suggestions? |
Nov 21 2008 14:28 (UTC) |

I've read that apple cider vinegar decreases appetite.
For a tip on the veggies: cook them. they're healthier raw, but they're easier to digest cooked. to get all of the nutrients, drink the water leftover from when you cook them. |

Oh yeah! Bananas!
They always seem to give everything else in the lunch box a distinct banana taste.
It's disgusting.
Plus the lunchbox begins to smell like a banana, and ANYTHING you back in there after has a slight hint of banana. |

How do you eat your apple? |
Nov 21 2008 03:35 (UTC) |

Rotting? No. Think about how long an apple has to sit out before it rots.
...then think about how long it is ACTUALLY in your stomach before another bowel movement.

Friday plan:
B- oatmeal with banana, almond butter, skim milk and blueberries (7)
L- garden salad with vinegar, light cheese stick, pear (11)
S- healthy hot chocolate, tangerine, cherry dark chocolate granola bar (3)
D- ? no clue. will be with a friend updates to come.
I'm trying to stop counting calories, any tips?
Write out a meal, then look at it on the paper (but don't write the cals).
If it looks balanced, eat it. If something seems off, fix it. Base meals on balance, not cals.
And here's an update: dinner tomato bisque in a bread bowl from target (ha)
snack lactaid chocolate icecream with peanut butter
dinner was quite pathetic, but mom and I went shopping and it was an "in-a-pinch" deal. |

Finally Getting Help... |

Yeah I know...
but I can't even miss a day of school, let alone a week or two.
I guess my biggest issue is that I don't know how to eat anymore. I don't know what is too much or what is too little. I didn't pay attention to what I ate pre-ED so I have no idea.
I think this nutritionist can help give me a clearer perspective...
But I just want to say thank you, Lala, really. You've actually helped me a lot. And although I still have yet to even START recovering, you've helped me realize that I need to, with your consistent posts. Even though I have weird mood swings in the other forums sometimes...
...I dunno. Just letting you know that you've really helped me.

i can't drink my calories.
other than my morning coffee (to which I add half and half), I seriously, SERIOUSLY cannot feel safe drinking a calorie.
For a while, pasta was a no-no. And bread that wasn't commercially "light."
Oh, and peanut butter. I can eat it now, but I can't eat nuts. I just am too afraid.
And cheese, too. Unless it was fat free cottage cheese, I wouldn't eat it. |

Sounds weird, I know, but it is very very good, I PROMISE! Haha
Blend a granny smith, a whole carrot or two and some fresh ginger, to taste.
It's so healthy, so yummy and so refreshing! I like to add an ice cube or two.
To max up the health benefits, scrub the carrots, don't peel them. And leave the skin on the apple. Fruit/veggie skins are where the nutrients are.
Anyway, good luck. :D
ps: some vanilla yogurt is good in it too, sometimes. |

Yes - I agree. That's why I'm taking some snacks today.
I didn't know I wouldn't make it home till late yesterday till after I got to school. And I have like 34 cents in my change purse.

Wow - heavy day today, haha! I can feel all of the sodium.
And my advice to ewwxrolfzz: think about how pathetic EDs are.
Earlier, I was wanting to binge purge. I was home alone, and then I was like (outloud), "Eating massive amounts of icecream and then gagging it back up is pathetic. Everyone else can control THEIR cravings; so can I. It's pathetic."
So I didn't binge.
And then when I was questioning the piece of toast I had with breakfast, I was like, "No, I need this. NOT eating this would be pathetic. Starving myself is pathetic." Go online and search anorexia images; look at how sad they all look.
No human needs to stoop that low; just keep reminding yourself that ED creates pathetic thoughts, and compare them with the normal thoughts everyone else has, so you can SEE how pathetic they are.
Best wishes. <3 |
