| You may wish someone would stop their bad habits- Ie, smoking (legal and not legal), drinking, pill popping... but until that person really wants to stop- you can't make them stop. All you can do is support them and their choices... (I'm a daughter of an alcoholic and though I wished my dad would stop his alcohol- he himself had to make that choice... ) I dated a guy 20 years ago or so- he and his twin brother were heavy pot smokers and beer drinkers- this was their life..I was their designated driver. Though I wished he would stop wasting his money and his parents money on his vices I knew he probably never would because he had his twin to help "support " him.... I eventually broke up with him because I couldn't handle his smoking and drinking. I often think about him and wonder where he is these days... I knew I could never change him though I wished I could...
I try not to judge people by the friends they keep because there is a lot of diversity out there.... |

| I'm almost 42 and find with just the little weight that I have lost I do have more stamina and I don't feel so self-conscious either when I'm naked now. My husband doesn't seem to notice- he's almost 50 and still would like more sex then I give him. (we are weekend people...usually just either Friday or Saturday night...) I do have a weird question though re: orgasms... I hope not too much TMI- but this weekend when I had them- everyone of them I felt a weird "twinge" in my side- up by my ovary... Has anyone else had this happen? It kind of took away from the orgasm though cause it kind of hurt... Just wondering... I do have an "annual physical" scheduled for Thursday and was planning on asking my doctor but thought I'd get some feedback before I went... | |||

| Yeah- I'm not sure how long the Mayor has had it either. They showed a picture of it with shorter hair but it didn't look that sick to me either. On the Today show- the Mayor could be faced with obstruction of justice and sentenced for up to 10 years in jail! It's crazy! She still insists that she did the right thing. I wish I was going to be on her jury! | |||

| I wasn't going to respond but I know a woman going through a painful divorce- she already has 2 children- she found out she was pregnant right after her husband told her that he was having an affair and wanted a divorce.... she didn't not keep the baby in her womb- I find it sad but also I can understand and support her decision. I think ending a pregnancy is a personal choice and no one should judge others for that decision. I really hope that roe-vs wade is NEVER over turned. Plus- no one thinks about the many unwanted children out in the world already there. Sure- it's easy to adopt a baby out but why bring it into the world in the first place? Why not give another homeless child a chance at adoption? Before they grow up and out of the system without being adopted? We all just have to realize- there are some people out there who do not want to be parents and that is fine- or aren't quite ready to be parents. And there are already too many un wanted children in this world in foster care and other facilities. Why don't people concentrate on helping the children that are already here in the flesh? | |||

| I was just wondering if you've had bloodwork done? Maybe getting sick doesn't have anything to do with the surgery. Perhaps a thyroid condition? I recently had my levels done and my tsh was high- I'm going back to the doctor next week to confirm if my thyroid is indeed the problem- and lately I've been feeling nauseous and will do that stupid gagging that comes from nowhere- kind of like "morning sickness" though I know for a fact that I am not pregnant. I was looking up symptoms of hypothyroid and nauseau/vomiting is one... just wondering..... | |||

| I just "found" this green tea drink made by Nestea- Enviga- the whole can only has 5 calories- it is slightly carbonated- doesn't leave an aftertaste- (it has aspertame in it) and I'm not going to stop drinking them. Moderation is the key- 1 or 2 a day and then drink water. Same with Crystal Light- I love their new Immunity line- Berry/pomegranate- and it doesn't give an after taste. It also has vitamins in it. I just don't drink it all day. | |||

| I was thinking after I lose 90 more pounds, I would love to go on the show- mainly because I think Carson is awesome and I'd love to go shopping with him for the day! It would be great for him to help me pick out what to wear. I was amazed when he shows the video of the two people, wearing different outfits and asks the person to pick the one who is "thinner" but then it turns out that the person on the video is the same person- so it depends on the clothes and how you wear them- He's a funny guy! Plus- a new wardrobe would be nice.... | |||

| Jenmcc- Hm... since it seems we have the same taste- I guess I'll have to see if they have Dresden Dolls on Itunes and check them out... It's pretty funny- but I was reading an old journal from 20 years ago and in it I had written that I went and saw David Bowie in concert- I went with my now husband and both he and I do not remember! Very sad really! I do remember going to see Ac/Dc though and a few of the Bridge benefit concerts with Neil Young. Oh- and Paul Simon too. I did see Clapton, Collins and someone else.... I've seen Chris Isaak like 2 or 3 times. Got his autograph and his band mate, Kenny's on a couple t-shirts- which I've never worn.... It's been years since I've been to any concerts. I wish they weren't so darn expensive! | |||

| Yeah- talking about shows that got cancelled- I used to love Starved! It was on before It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia a couple years ago. I thought that show was great- I think maybe it offended people though because it dealt with people who had different eating disorders and how they saw themselves. There was a great scene with one of the regular gals- she was working out in the gym with her guy friend- and she spied a woman over at the juice counter eating a huge sandwhich. Then she would go work out a little- not really putting effort in- then she went and got her fat percentage taken- it was quite low. So the girl who was watching all this and hears how low the other gals fat percentage is- goes all crazy and starts working out like mad on the treadmill- They show her dressed in full sweats- sweating and running. The next scene is like a week or so later and this time when the gal is watching the skinny waif eat the huge sandwhich again- work out and get her fat percentage taken- it has gone up. So the jealous gal who has been working her butt off- goes over to her to get her fat percentage taken too- well hers was finally lower than the sandwhich eating woman- So she smuggly says to the sandwhich eat- " Oh, I'm sorry. But sometimes that happens." But the sandwhich eater says back with a huge smile on her face- "That's ok- I'm recovering from cancer so I'm supposed to be gaining!" It was classic because then the jealous girl felt about this small.... so- I took it also as a lesson- don't judge people you see in life without knowing their story....I was really bummed when they didn't renew the season.... | |||

| Breaking Bad is a new show that just started on AMC- it has Bryan Cranston ( Malcolm in the MIddle) in it- it is a great show! It's on Sundays at 10pm Pacific time.- I also love Nip/Tuck. Medium, with Patricia Arquette is good- I can't wait for Rescue Me to start back up. And Burn Notice was pretty good. Two and Half Men for some comedy- I also like something, something with Old Christine with Julia Louis Dreyfus- she's so funny! And Rules of Engagement- with David Spade and "Putty" from Seinfeld on it. Though his characters name is different and the gal that plays his wife is great. ( I too am a Hero's watcher...) | |||

| I just thought I'd update here:)-
SW- November 3, 2007= 313 Feb 2- 2008- 290.2- yeah! I'm out of the 300's.... And then the next day was TOM so I probably lost even more since I was retaining water. I also joined Sparkpeople.com so I have two websites to be accountable to... I figured the more, the merrier. Still counting down until my doctor appt on the 21st to update bloodwork to see if I am for sure hypothyroid. Been doing well with exercising- actually- I have picked up my exercise- now I am going at least 6 days a week- today I even "jogged" longer than normal. My usual hour walk only took me 50 minutes. And last year it took 1 hour and 15 minutes. The dogs are getting in shape too... |

| M-Thursday my husband usually goes to bed around 9pm since he has to get up at 3:30 to get ready for his commute. Me- I stay up downstairs and watch all the good late night tv. This is my "alone"time- unless you count the two mutts on the couch with me and maybe a cat on the lap... And that is my daughter's bedtime too during the week. Course- tonight is Friday and it is 12:45am- I'm up on the computer- daughter is asleep and husband has been asleep since about 11pm... I'm a night owl. And I like the peace and quiet. Our hot water pipe is broken somewhere in the foundation so we are using it sparingly- which means- no showers in the evenings- which is usually my husband and mine's "signal" So I don't feel guilty staying up later. Sometimes on the weekend mornings he'll be "brave" and try to wake me up at 7am- but he knows I'm really not a morning person- so he walks on egg shells or just gets up and lets me sleep... | |||

| I love Silk Soy Milk- it's in the refrigerated section- but I also drink 1% milk too- and recently I found HEMPMILK- it too comes in chocolate flavor and it surprisingly was pretty tasty. It is high in Omega 3's..... I found that on the shelf with the other soy milks... | |||
| Health & Support | really scared right now....heart beating weird... | Jan 12 2008 08:10 (UTC) |
|
| Just an update- it was my actual total cholestrol that was 215- so part of that has "good" included. My "bad" was only about 15 points above normal- and my TSH level was actually HIGH- it was 5.6 and high normal is 3. something. When I go for my follow up appt. in Feb- they will probably do a full thyroid panel. When I told the veterinarian I work for I first told her that my TSH was low because I miss-understood the doctor- but then when I looked at them after I had the doctor fax my level and told her that I was actually high- she said that that made sense as that would go along with a faster heart beat and irregular beat..... but I'm still optimistic that it will come back low. My sister- in law- when she was first diagnosed- her thyroid was high- then it went low and she's been on medication for low thyroid for over 10 years now.... I guess I'll just have to be on pins and needles until Feb....and interestingly- it will be on my anniversary when I first joined Calorie- count- and I did not plan that either.....weird... | |||

| My husband is soon to hit 50 and he is still a bottomless pit! He recently though has noticed that he is getting a "kangaroo pouch"- his words, not mine- But he still eats more than me. It was hard first starting out together because I did feel I had to keep up with him- but over the about 20 years we have been together- I'm finally realizing that he is himself and I am myself- we are two different people. I try to buy healthier snacks and such and then he ends up eating "my things!"- He loves the Luna Bars- which I tried to explain that they are for woman! I bought him some Cliff Bars and showed him those are his. We have his and hers towels and now apparently- we have his and hers food! It is a funny world we live in.... he actually is my inspiration to eat more healthy- he's a good fruit/vege eater- sometimes that is all he'll have for dinner- is a big bowl of steamed veges.... so- just hang in there and don't try to keep up. | |||

| Yes I would- because I'm trying to get healthier to live longer so that I can be around for my daughter. I don't want to die young like my mom did. (even though she died from strokes from being a smoker- she was not obese like me.) | |||

| Maybe to make it simpler- they should specify- "All you can eat in 1 hour"- If you are there for a second hour- then you pay again and so on.. We have one that just opened up in our neighborhood but haven't been to it because it is pretty pricey. I no I wouldn't want to eat as much to get my monies worth. I'd rather just go to a regular restaurant and at least take home half of my meal to eat when I'm hungry.... | |||
