Young Calorie Counters As a teen, what do you do to EXERCISE? Sep 16 2008

Well, I'm in college and I go to an especially hilly and large campus so I walk everywhere, that's pretty good exercise in itself. THen my college also has a uge fitness facility with tons of classes and equipment. I go there to swim sometimes.

But the thing that burns the most calories for me is fencing. I go fencing twice a week for about 2 hours each time, and if you count out like the 30 minutes we spend leanring new stuff and taking water breaks...that comes down to about 1 1/2 hours of fencing and according to the calculator on here, that's like 1,021 calories!

Plus I probably condition myself for it in my dorm for about 30 min each day

I remember I used to eat any- and everything when I got home from school...I ate honestly whatever looked appealing to me at the time. And my house used to be (I'm in college now) filled to the brim with junk food because my stepdad was so stubborn and wouldn't eat anything else, so I pretty much lived on that stuff for years.

My favorite were cereal...I love cereal, chips, leftovers, candy, and bagels...these were the good days, when things used to be simple! lol

Now when I get back to my dorms I usually munch on an apple...

I'm a fencer (mostly Foils and Epee) and I currently eat about 1400-1600 calories a  day, but that's mainly because I gained some weight over the summer and now I'm trying to slim down...

But I'd usually eat between 1800-2000 calories a day when not dieting.

I personally do have cheat days...For instance, if it's mine or someone else's birthday (or some other special occasion) and we go out for dinner and I'll just order whatever but the next day it's right back on track....plus I try to "prepare" for these days for about a week before hand with some extra running or working out...
