You should definitely see a new doctor. I am where you are right now and i know how low it can make you feel. You need help understanding and coping with these thoughts and feelings - that takes time and most importantly understanding. What makes me angry is that you can almost expect to feel that way if you try and talk to someone who doesn't understand your issues but when it comes to a supposed professional? There is no excuse for what she is doing to you or making you feel. I am fortunate to have someone who understands suicidal thoughts and severe depression and treats it with compassion. Please i urge you find someone new they are not all like that i promise.

And never feel ashamed for what you are feeling - now i just need to take my own advice it does get better though - honestly xxx

sorry you had to go through that i have been through it twice Yell. I weighed about 180 pounds but i was a very typical apple shape then with a larger belly and thinner legs. The first time it happened was with someone i had not seen for years who gave me a hug in front of my new boyfriend and a couple of my friends and said "looks like someone has a bun in the oven". I was mortified and everyone pretended not to hear and the guy was embarrassed but still! The second time was when i started a new job and my boss weighed a good 300 pounds or more. He took me to one side and asked me and looked shocked when i said no. This though was not enough to spur me on but 6 years later i decided after seeing a picture where i was sat next to a large friend that i looked the same size or bigger. Since then i have dropped over 50 pounds and now weigh 128 pounds at 5ft 7 which puts me in a size 4-6 and luckily the apple shape has disappeared since then lol. I looked at your pics and you look gorgeous don't let what other people say destroy your self confidence because if you do it doesn't matter how much weight you drop you never feel good enough which is what happened to me but i am back on track now and feeling better than ever.

Motivation I feel like my husband sabotages me... Help me Nov 30 2008

I have been there. In my last relationship i was 15 pounds overweight. My boyfriend put me down all the time telling me that i was fat and that's not what he liked. I never lost the weight whilst i was with him. I eventually saw sense and i have been with my current partner for 2 years. I got with him whilst i was still 15 pounds overweight but he loved me regardless. Never once did he ever put me down in fact i never felt more beautiful in a relationship and since then i have lost over 50 pounds. My partner still loves me the same then as he does now. I think that was the important part i didn't lose weight to appease anyone or feel pressured into losing weight then failing i did it for me and me only. Anyone that gives an ultimatum in my eyes is setting you up for failure. I cant lose weight for other people but i can do it for me. I am lucky to have found someone who truly loves me because of the person i am and not my weight. If i had stayed with my ex and happened to h ave gotten pregnant i bet my self esteem would now be shattered beyond belief.

I never feel any different even though i go into shops and buy a size 4 i feel like all of the store clerks are looking at me as if to say "she is far too big to be buying that". I think it just takes time for our minds to catch up with the new you. When everyone tells me how slim i am and how now is the time to think about maintaining i just look at them as if they are crazy.

amazing story thanks for sharing. I really do believe it is harder work being overweight than being fit. I love stories like that they are very inspirational. I wouldnt change the feeling i get from feeling fit for anything in the world now.

Well done i know how hard it is to motivate yourself. I started by making small changes so i didnt feel like i was changing my lifestyle to drastically. I was exactly the same lost a little weight then lost my motivation. I was lucky i got myself a dog and he needs to be walked everyday for up to an hour. I also got myself the wii fit which is great fun without seeming like exercise. On top of that got myself and exercise/stability ball and i love doing that because personally i find it a lot of fun especially when i go on youtube and follow the exercises on there and try to keep up lol. It sounds to me that the first step is realising you really want to do it. I am the same height as you i started off weighing 182 pounds in febuary i now weigh 132 pounds and the small changes that didnt take a lot of effort really helped me on my way. Keep it up just try and do a little trial and error so you know what works best for you.

good point yes i am a little curvy i have decided to just concentrate on my body fat, the way i feel and the clothes i look good in. I really do curve out at my stomach not much but enough to notice. Maybe i am my own worst crtic because everyone else has told me the pictures look nice. Its just this one main picture where i look like i have a huge double chin and chubby cheeks - i think i should start practising my photo poses in the mirror :)

Motivation Can't STAY motivated Nov 21 2008

I agree start out small. I never had any motivation within the first month of eating healthy or working out so at the beginning of this year i made very small changes. I started off by saying no more full fat milk just skim. After a month or so (and this is just me personally mind you i dont suggest cutting things out you cant live without) i said no more butter or spread i can live without it on my toast and i could. Next i introduced water into my daily life, i only used to drink diet coke ever so i made myself a large bottle of water and just tried when i remembered to drink that instead of diet coke. Trust me small changes like these over time start to make a difference without seeming like you are drastically changing your lifestyle. Within about 4 months i realised i had lost 10 pounds without even trying. That is when i decided to step it up a little and introduce exercise. I got a dog and i had to start walking everyday at first for 30 mins then gradually over time more and more. I then found this site and learnt about calories which i never knew before. I started to write down what i was eating so i would know what i could change and i what i really couldn't. I never deprive myself ever. If i want chocolate i will eat it etc i just count it into my daily calorie allowance. I don't think i could of ever personally got down from a bmi of 29 to a bmi of 20 (over 50 pounds lost) unless i had started out small and took my time. Its taken me from January to get here and i don't feel like i have changed my lifestyle too fast. because it has been over a while everything starts to become second nature to me now. But its you that really has to have just a little bit of motivation to really want to change. Its realising if you slip up not to give up just keep on going you are going to get there eventually.

aw thanks thats very nice of you to say yeah i think that men just don't operate their brains when they actually talk. He told me today not to lose any more weight but i am doing this for me not for him. I try and lift weights 3 times a week but to be honest i hate it i do a lot of stability ball training, lunges etc as well though to try and make up for it. I guess it will probably take me at least another 5 pounds to get to size 4 as that is where i want to be as well. Maybe now though i should concentrate on more free weights and try and get heavier losing 2 inches from your waist is great if i could lose one more i would be amazed. I am a typical apple shape so the fat is clinging on there for dear life right now :S

wow my goal is the flat tummy too i know what you mean though ladies its probably a case of learning to love myself flaws and all. I think the problem is the bride is so skinny and she lost the weight in a very unhealthy way of not eating. I was talking to my boyfriend about it last night and he said wouldnt it be great if you could just tell your body to lose the weight from your stomach and your face. I was so annoyed lol to me that said you still need to lose weight from there as those are the places i am most paranoid about. At least this has motivated me to work out even harder thats one good thing i suppose.

Hey well for your height to be totally honest with you your bmi is under 18 and that is considered underweight. You unfortuantely can't gain or lose weight from one area of the body (i wish i could just lose it from my stomach lol).I know how difficult it is when you lose weight and then come to a point when you are never going to feel like you look good enough. I have a bmi of 20 and i still feel huge but i know i am not. If you eat well and are eating enough calories to mantain your current weight then i shouldn't worry to much about other peoples comments but i think that maybe if you gained a little muscle it could really help you. You say that you exercise but i wonder if you have tried any weight training? That really does change the way your body looks with a little effort and time. The important thing to do is lift heavy and remember if you are going to take on any more exercise to increase your calories to help the muscle grow you have to feed it. I would personally try this way first if you are really uncomfortable gaining weight as this may naturally help you become a healthy body weight and feel more comfortable in your skin.

I can safetly say for me i eat a little chocolate everyday and i have lost weight without any problems. That said though i do account for it in my daily calories but occasionally if i happen to go over i will exercise to help me a little. It has not hurt me yet as long as the rest of your diet is healthy then i see no problems at all.

I sometimes think that - i am fortunate to work from home so i get a lot of free time to exercise (which i do for at least and hour a day - home gym :) ). Sometimes though i can lose a little motivation so coming here helps me stay on track and get myself motivated enough to work out.

you sound like me and i have an inch bigger measurements than you. I feel sometimes when we lose weight we start to notice imagined flaws about ourselves. I personally don't feel like you are fishing for complimants as i constantly ask people if i look fat etc yet i am a size 6 going on to size 4. Logically when i think about it i know there is nothing wrong with me sometimes it takes a while for our brains to catch up unfortunately. If you ever want to chat and are having a bad day feel free to message me as i think you sound great and i bet you look great too :)

I think keep it up - maybe try lowering your calories to around 1500 for a week and see how your weight responds then, also make sure you take at least one day of rest from exercise a week ( i just did this and i have been in a plateau for a month and the scale started to drop again). I guess sometimes our bodies needs a break from all the hard work it has been doing so when you come back to it you feel more refreshed and tend to work a little harder.

I can totally relate. Every friday night i used to get a takeaway consisting of a 1/4 cheese burger with chicken and kebab meat, cheese covered fries and onions rings. Now when everyone is around mine ordering their greasy food i can sit back and say no thanks i have already eaten. I don't even miss it the smell puts me off. Also mcdonalds used to be one of my favourite places to eat and i used to go at least 3 times a week - i have not visted there in 6 months :)

can i just say to the other posters this isnt high school this a site to help people and promote healthy eating why are you going on about spelling for it seems rather childish. Can i just say you look great in your pictures i would start by making small changes that is what i did like one week i thought ok how about changing to skim milk etc all the little changes add up. I started off at 180 and i am 5ft 7 now i am 137 and it took me about 6 months. Like i said i started slowly then built it up if you want to talk to me about how you can do it i would be happy to help :)

mine sounds a bit daft but since losing 40 pounds i have not been out to see my friends as i have been busy so seeing them as a size 6 and hearing all the guys saying oh my god and smiling at me all night. And all the girls looking concerned trying to make me drink more and get a pizza after and then feeling smug when i turn them down (i know its jealousy a little bit lol )

Foods Tesco Value vs Sainsburys Basics Oct 26 2008

The only thing i tend not to by from the value range at either store is meat i like to know that is of a good quality apart from that to be honest with you a lot of the stuff is the same as branded items. Tesco beans for example are made by heinz they just add more sauce i think there is a website that tells you the difference in quality between all the value ranges at tescos, sainsburys, asda etc and a lot of it is just as good as the expensive alternatives. I personally live in a place where there is only a tesco so i get a lot of their value range but when i have shopped around i cant really tell the difference myself as they are all made in the same factories they just put on different lables.
