Hi,

I recently answered a question entitled recipes for HCG diets.

Mary

I also read this answer. It still doesn't phase me. I've experienced the way it works. Other nutritionists will say the opossite so I won't be led by her certification. I do agree that Kevin Trudeau is rather full of it, but he didn't create the diet and I didn't do the protocol soley based of of his book.

I apologize candilovesjon. I did misunderstand you. :) I wasn't upset. Just defending it. It is natural and not an antibiotic, so I think we are on the same page. :)

500 calories a day is starvation.

True. However, your body is eating around 2000 calories a day. Just because you don't put the calories in your mouth doesn't mean the body is not consuming them.

Yes the hormone is taken from pregnant women's pee, but who cares! It works! That hormone causes pregnant women's body's to release stored fat cells and divert them to their growing baby. When taking it for weight loss, it releases those fat cells to be used as fuel for your body. It literally causes your body to eat the fat off of you.

Pretty awesome if you ask me. :)

where do they get it? do the pregnant women pee in cups and give it to them or do they just take the pee from Dr visits without them knowing? the whole idea sounds sick to me! I'm not going to do something just because it works is it healthy and safe is what I'm looking for! eating disorders work for weight loss but I'm not going to do it because it is not healthy or safe!I would want to know who's pee was used how they got it and I'd want to see tests done on that pee for diseases etc!

Seriously! Where do you think we get this? It's not from some back alley. It is prescribed by a doctor and bought from a pharmacy. It is the same thing that women use to increase fertility when trying to become pregnant. It is also prescribed to men to increase sperm count and young boys who are having problems starting puberty. Only, for weighloss a MUCH smaller dosage is taken.

As far as how they extract the hormone from the pee, I have no clue, but I imagine there are medications out there that come from grosser sources. It's not like you are injecting yourself with pee. Take penicillin for example--it's taken from mold. But you wouldn't dare tell a diabetic how gross it was to use mold medicine!

This really is an extremely healthy and natural way to lose weight. I only ask that anyone become more informed before attacking it. I know so many people who have bennefited from this. No only weight loss but other health problems fixed too--thyroid disease, diabetes, allergies, low adrenals, low metabolism, etc.

oh, and by the way, even if that test is positive, it may be very minimal. I tested this morning and it said I had some. Maybe just mention it to your dr. if you feel you should.

Here is something you might look into...
I don't know if you have heard of candida but my sister battled with it for a while. It is something that a lot of people have and never know. Especially if they have ever had a time where they were really sick and their immunities really low. But part of it is the over production of yeast and bacteria in the intestines which causes severe cravings and fatigue. I'm sure a lot of what you are struggling with is mental from the life change but also often the body plays a huge role in things and it is hard to tell the difference.
Here is a website that tells you how to test for candida. And no worries, if it comes out positive. It is more like a food allergy and is totally curable! It just takes some time and being aware of how you react to certain foods.....

I have. It is wonderful. It takes determination and strictness, but it is the best thing I've ever done. I lost weight I had never been able to lose before. I'm not the only one though. Many of my friends and relatives have done it with excellent results. I had created a group for people to ask questions and give feedback. If you want to join I would be happy to answer questions and hopefully make the process easier for you than it was for me by sharing what I learned. :)

Try to fill up on other foods. I know the chocolate crave all too well (what is it with most women and chocolate?) :) One thing to keep in mind is when you were anorexic you lost a ton of structural fat (the good fat that fills in your joints and muscles). So it is natural that you may gain a bunch just by eating normal w/o seeing a lot of change in size. That part is a good thing. But just try to focus on eating good healthy foods. One advantage you have overseas is most of the food is not overly processed there. It is more natural.

Your body is probably craving certain nutrients which causes cravings and binging. Try taking a multivitamin and getting a really balanced diet. I'm not a nutritionist, so that is all I can tell you from experience.

And I confess....I had chocolate just this morning. ;)

Weight Loss I need more protein. Any ideas?? Sep 23 2008

You don't need more protein! Why does everything think that? The average north American diet has too much. Do some research into the subject and you will find that if you eat too much protein you actually start to lose calcium. That means your bones weaken and you are at risk of osteoporosis later in life! That's painful and not very attractive.

Eat a balanced diet. If your trying a low carb diet, note that you will lose weight quickly but its water not fat. Also, your body needs carbs to perform physical activity... or feel good doing it.

Maybe you don't need more protein but it is good to check. You should have 1g for every kg you weigh. Use the site's converter to see how many kg you are. ex: I way 135 lb (61 kg) and should consume around 61g of protein a day.

Just b/c the avg n. american diet has too much protein doesn't make you the avg. N. American. ;)

someone recommended tuna, which is a great low cal way of getting protein, but another is canned pink salmon. It's not as expensive as other forms of salmon (especially if you get it from costco) and it tastes great. I like to just sprinkle a little seasoning on it and go. One can (6 oz.) ony has 180 calories in it and 39 grams of protein! That's more than drinking 2 protein shakes. It is also high in Omega 3.

Hope that helps. :)

Foods Help! Huge Breakfast! Sep 23 2008

That's actually not far off what you should be eating. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and should be when most of your calories are consumed. The breakdown should be 40% at breakfast 30% at lunch and 20% at dinner with the remaining 10% being snacks. Breakfast jumpstarts your metabolism for the day so if there is ever a meal to over-eat it is at breakfast. :)

eerica,

maybe you should try this too. Vitamin B naturally fights depression and a lot of doctors will be quick to prescribe a medication before trying to find a natural cure. Might give it a try. :)

If you happen to have a Costco membership (I haven't seen these anywhere else) there is a great organic energy drink there. It gives you energy without the buzz. It has green tea, guarana, yerba mate (great natural energy tea), and vitamin B in it just to name a few. The vitamin B is really essential to feeling good throughout the day. It doesn't just increase energy but it helps your mood as well. So not this energy drink iss actually good for you, not just a shot of caffeine. :)

Maybe if you don't have costco, you can find something similar or find it somewhere else. It is called essn energy.

Here is a review I found:

Maybe you could increase it more slowly. You don't need quite that much either. You just want to try and get at least 80g.

Try Saigon Cinnamon (I get it from Costco). It is amazing! Tastes like candy all by itself and is wonderful with apples.

Weight Loss Is it typical to gain weight before you lose weight? Sep 16 2008

One thing you might try is not weighing very often but instead try measuring. Get a measuring tape and measure your stomach, hips, upper arm and thigh. Try to measure the same spot every time and don't be too concerned over 1/2 inch fluctuations.

That is a better way to make sure you are loosing fat and gaining muscle. Scales aren't very trustworthy. ;)
